Fulshear Treatment to Transition Center is a program I would highly recommend to families looking for help with their young adult daughter and have lost all hope regarding their future. This was the situation our family found ourselves in 9 months ago and struggled to know how to help. It was our desire to place her in a program that really understood her difficulties. Immediately, after visiting the program, I felt that Fulshear had the experience and professional staff to successfully work with our child. I would encourage any family contemplating a inpatient treatment to make an inquiry into this program. As we discovered during our daughter’s treatment, a path to a healthy outlook really begins with a greater understanding and commitment to the process of recovery. Fulshear provided the education and life skills needed to help our daughter have a healthy mind set. The transition part of the program was the key to her success and I am so thankful this program makes this a part of the treatment process. The treatment team staff and therapist work together to create a transition plan that I believe was so essential in her successful graduation of the program. The cost for treatment is expensive, but in our families circumstance worth it for the professional services and care provided. Fulshear was a superb program and we are very grateful for its commitment and managed approach to help our daughter.

A little more than a year ago we were faced with transporting my daughter from True North Wilderness in VT to Fulshear in TX. Unfortunately they wouldn’t have an opening for her at the ranch until a week later. We were concerned because coming home in the interim wasn’t an option. Della at Fulshear helped us by doing some research and recommending a number of activities to keep us occupied in the Houston area. Three days later my daughter’s anxiety and depression got the best of her (and me). Unsure where to turn for support I called Della who immediately got on the phone with my daughter. I was able to breathe again, we survived the rest of our down time and arrived at Fulshear on schedule. I didn’t realize it at the time but Della’s dedication to my daughter’s well being was characteristic of everyone my wife and I encountered while she was in the care of the Fulshear organization. Leaving our Daughter at the ranch was a tumultuous mixture of relief and sadness. Within a week regular communications with the clinical and residential staff were established. We knew who to contact if we received an unsettling or upsetting text or call from our kid. Then our 20 year old started to implode. The staff predicted the behavior and was able to see our daughter and us through the difficult first weeks. I have to confess that at first it was difficult to distinguish fact from fiction when our young adult communicated with us. The residential staff took our calls at any hour, listened carefully and always worked to satisfy our need for clarity. Clarity became our mantra as we entered into family therapy. Our therapist Duke helped us clarify our family situation, objectives, progress, pitfalls, and setbacks, as well as clarify our individual feelings and family dynamics. Slowly but surely we became a healthier and increasingly honest family. Duke employed his interest, expertise, and experience working with the complex profile of our adopted daughter. He helped her process the trauma of her first two years of life and her ensuing challenges with family, personal, and professional relationships. He taught the skills necessary to cope, predict, monitor, and adjust to life and challenged her to use them. I was particularly impressed with his direct and honest approach to everything. Our daughter met regularly with Hannah a Fulshear life-skills and transition specialist. At first we didn’t fully grasp the meaning and importance of life-skills but Hannah maintained consistent communication with us and we came to understand the nature and importance of taking a deliberate approach to building a functional young adult. Even from afar it was clear that Hannah was teaching skills that would help well beyond the year at Fulshear. She coached and taught throughout the year and as our child neared graduation Hannah was right there supporting her preparations for life beyond the program. Monica, an insightful substance abuse counselor and mentor was a positive, encouraging, and realistic support to our daughter. She facilitated structure, and self awareness that are adding up to month after month of healthier sober living. Finally, I want to mention Fulshear’s family programming. Every few months all of the families were invited to the ranch for an educational, social, and therapeutic gathering. Every moment was meaningful and useful especially the opportunity to speak directly with other families that were experiencing similar if not identical trauma. Its amazing to speak with people who “get it” instantly! To their credit the people mentioned above, the nursing staff, and the residential staff worked as a well coordinated team to the benefit of our family. Now that our child has graduated please accept our admiration and appreciation for all the expert and compassionate care you've provided.

The majority of the staff here are Mormon, which I think should be advertised. Don’t go here unless you have your Book of Mormon with you. This place was a prison for me. I was sent here by a treatment facility I had just graduated from. All the progress I made there was reversed after 9 months here. I tried to kill myself on a home visit just so I wouldn’t have to go back. These therapists believe in working from the outside in instead of the inside out. They told me if I didn’t break up with my boyfriend I couldn’t move on to the apartments. The more honest I was the more I was punished so I learned to be sneaky. I recently reread my journal from my stay here and my regression is quite clear from entry to entry. Now, I am doing better than I’ve ever been, with no help from Fulshear. I am doing much better than the far majority of girls I went here with and I didn’t even graduate. I knew girls that didn’t start cutting until they got here. I tried out bulimia for a month here because everyone else was doing it. As for the mentors, I think they hire just about anyone. One showed us videos of her twerking in her underwear. Another actively started drama and verbal fights with one of the clients, and later was found saying the n word on social media. The apartments have roaches. No one tries to get to the root of the problem, they just tell you what they think you should do, and punish you if you don’t do what they say. And while I’m here, for the love of your twisted Mormon god please stop sending me alumni invitations. Although, I thoroughly enjoyed the accidental email they sent out on May 21, 2019 containing personal information of all past clients. Classy establishment.

I owe my life, and my future, to Fulshear Treatment to Transition (and to myself). I was broken and at rock bottom when I went to Fulshear and I expected them to “fix me” and “give me the right meds” and “give me answers/solutions.” If that is what you are expecting, you can forget it... you will gain so much more. The program is excellent, individualized, and one of a kind. I was able to work with a wonderful team of professionals who I felt like were always in my corner, even when I felt enraged with them. They supported me, challenged me, and encouraged me to evaluate myself and empower myself. They didn’t do things FOR me, instead they guided me in finding MY OWN tools to build MY OWN foundation and I have since then continued building to create a life I’m proud of and capable of continuing. I’ve struggled and I have succeeded. I’ve also seen others struggle and others succeed. This program is truly the tool you need to take back your life and to live it through the bad times and the good times. It will work if you are willing to work. I will also say it will not work if you are not willing to work. That is true of anything in life though. If you are in a rock-bottom or low position in life yourself, or if you are a friend or parent of a person in a rock-bottom or low position in life, I 100% recommend you seek this program out to help you or your loved one take back their life. You will see a motivated, but incapable, 1.9 accumulative GPA college drop-out student transform into a 4.0 GPA involved, highly capable student. You will see an individual who desperately wants to throw away life transform into an inspiring life themself. I could go on and on, but my review will end by emphasizing that this program’s motto is Healthy, Strong, and Influential for a reason. Those are not empty words or traits, Fulshear means what they say. So please take a leap of faith, like I did, and put your, or your loved one’s, future in this exemplary program’s hands.

Our daughter attended Fulshear 5 years ago for 18 months. It was the hardest decision we ever made as a family but for our daughter and our family it was the best decision we ever could have made. Today she is thriving, independent and happy. We had come to a place that was very dark and with no hope. Fulshear was recommended to us by an educational consultant so we went for a visit to see if if would be the right place. I was immediately struck by how compassionate and kind the staff was. From talking to the admissions director to having a life changing conversation with the clinical director who ended up being our daughters therapist. I finally felt like someone understood what we were going thru and gave us some hope. The program is amazing and the staff and therapists saved our lives. In 18 months we went from a family that was struggling to even love each other on basic terms to a family today that loves and respects each other for who we are. I am forever grateful to Fulshear for showing our daughter how to love herself again, be independent and strong in any circumstance. As a Mom I love Fulshear and everything it has to offer!

Fulshear saved our Daughter’s life. The program took longer than we expected but it was worth the time and the money. It was a tough journey. There is a lot of conflict between the young women; which you would expect with a population of people who are at different stages in their recovery. Fulshear not only encourages family involvement, they mandate it. There is a quarterly family session in person which is very valuable (be sure to attend the equine sessions!). There are 1-3 phone calls per week to the parents from a staff member. Your daughter is encouraged to call as well. The staff is wonderful. They loved our daughter and educated her and us on her illness. They helped our daughter through some tough things. She wanted to leave on multiple occasions but realized that this is really hard work and that these people weren’t going to give up on her. We can’t say enough good things about Fulshear. PS. It breaks my heart to know that Fulshear didn’t work out for some of the women who have posted reviews. It is a tough and long process and unfortunately, it doesn’t work out for everyone.

Sending our daughter to Fulshear was the hardest decision that we ever had to make. However, it has been one of the best decisions. She was adopted from Russia after spending 10 months in an orphanage. She suffered from Reactive Attachment Disorder resulting in years of loneliness, feeling rejected and spiraling downhill into a social media addiction and a complete false identity. Fulshear uses an adult attachment model when treating their clients. This gives them an understanding of how and why this disorder happens. Kevin, our daughter’s therapist is phenomenal and turned her life around. Kevin has done so much for our entire family. The weekly family sessions, although difficult at times, have remarkably improved our relationships. Everyone at Fulshear has become like family. From the admission counselors to the residential staff, they have all been an important part of our daughter’s journey through Fulshear. Our daughter has thanked us many times for sending her to Fulshear. It wasn’t always easy for her, but she persevered and 6 1/2 months later she has graduated from the program. She has become a confident young woman who lives to be an inspiration for others. If you are considering Fulshear, call today and ask for an admission counselor named Della. Fulshear was the first place I was treated as capable. I was surrounded by staff who were invested in my progress and truly cared about me. Throughout my journey I was respected, heard, loved, and valued as an individual. For the first time in my life I was not afraid to be myself. I did not just learn skills to cope I was taught to go beyond that and treat the root problem and heal through the trauma of life. At Fulshear I wasn't saved like I was at other treatment centers I was empowered and I grew into a confident, influential young women who still struggles but is not afraid to keep going. Help you, your family, and your daughter by taking advantage of all Fulshear has to offer it is hard work but it is the best thing my family has ever done for me.

I was in the Redwood community at Fulshear for 9 months after graduating a wilderness program that I was in for 3 months. My family and therapist in wilderness found 3 highly recommended programs for me and Fulshear was at the top of the list. While I was initially unsure about the idea of moving to Texas for several months, I am so grateful to have heard about this program and to have had the opportunity to work on myself here. The residential staff are so sweet and helpful and many of them have become lifelong friends with me, the nursing staff have always been very patient with me and are so fun to talk to. I have made several close friends with the other girls at Fulshear and have learned a lot of valuable life skills regarding living with roommates in a positive and empowering manner because of them. Treatment team, while intimidating at times, gave me a great source of feedback and perspective while I was there. I wasn't very impressed by the program's psychiatrist to be completely honest and believe that she could've done a better job hearing me out and meeting me where I was at. Apart from that, this program is life changing and is a great program to empower women to make big life choices. I've struggled with social anxiety and over working myself for a very long time and am very proud to have graduated influential from this program.

I have been a client here for 6 months. Here’s my honest review: The groups are not taken very seriously. There’s a high tolerance for crosstalk. The staff members leading the groups are often unprepared. It’s about 30 minutes of screwing around with silly checkin questions (What animal would you want to be and why? Etc.) and 30 minutes of hit or miss instruction, depending on the staff member. The therapists and transition specialists themselves are pretty good. They’re professional and trustworthy and efficient. Some of the residential staff, however, tend to be incompetent and hard to deal with sometimes. It’s really difficult to coordinate things because they’re obsessed with keeping track of you. It genuinely feels like being 14 all over again, with parents texting you asking you where you are and when you’ll be home and telling you where and with whom you are allowed to be. The first portion of treatment is at the “ranch,” where you have no internet access, and get only 30 minutes of phone time, or email time, alternating daily. You are expected to clean up after the horses in order to earn the phone/email time. Therapy and life skills groups 9-5 M-F. You can only eat the food they make at the times they make it. No snacks other than whatever fruit they might have on the counter even if you’re starving. (Basically, the ranch is pretty awful.) Once you have progressed enough in their eyes (which could be anywhere from 2 months to 6 months; less than 3 is uncommon), you move into one of their apartments with 1-3 other clients. If you slip up (e.g. drink if you’re supposed to be sober) or break their rules (e.g. hang out with a friend outside the program without their permission) they will send you back to the ranch. People avoid doing unhealthy things that would take them a step back in their treatment out of fear of being sent back, rather than out of motivation to get better. I strongly disagree with this practice but it’s an integral part of the program. You’re constantly living in fear that you’ll be sent back to the ranch at a moment’s notice. The apartments are dirty and beat up. I have lived in two of them, and both times I have had to pick up and take out garbage BAGS of junk that other clients just left in the apartment when they moved out. There is so much junk just sitting in the apartments. You don’t get access to your phone and laptop when you first get to the apartments. You have to earn it (usually takes 2+ weeks), and once you do earn it, you only get to keep them from 12pm-8:30pm. Then they make you turn it in. Again, back to feeling like you’re 14. I’ve made some good progress in individual therapy. My therapist is great. I’m also grateful for my transition specialist. But the residential portion of the program needs a lot of work in my opinion. Fulshear likes to control you. Maybe some people need this for their treatment, but for me, it was only frustrating and honestly, hindering. The therapy is pretty effective.

I personally worked the program for over a year. I came into the program at a very low point in my life. I had no sense of identity, my family wasn't even on speaking terms, I self destructed in every relationship I came across, always played the victim... the list goes on. My therapist, Curby, helped me see the role I played in what was going on in my life. She taught me how to shift my role, therefore taking the power back in my life. Curby was the most influential person for me at Fulshear and helped me turn into the powerful, self-aware person I am today. The entire Fulshear staff is exceptional. They are all genuine, kind people who are in the field because they care to help. I can not say this enough-The program is what you make of it! Seeing some reviews on here make me sad because it doesn't do the program justice. The staff will challenge every unhealthy pattern you have and encourage you to engage in a new, healthier way. However, it is up to the individual whether they choose to do it or not. Some girl are not ready to make these big changes. I was one of the girls who was ready. I am very grateful to Fulshear for showing me the way.

I don't even know where to begin. I was in this program for a little bit over 10 months and in the beginning I wasn't the most positive person there. I pushed away people who wanted to connect, I wouldn't talk to my therapist and the only person I would talk to is my recovery counselor. As time went on, I learned my core issue and core meaning which really helped me develop who I really am as a person. The staff really showed me what genuine connection is suppose to look like and my whole treatment team was fantastic. I highly suggest this program if you really want to learn the deeper meaning of yourself and learn to love the life you were given!!

Fulshear has good intentions for the most part...I graduated in 6 months. I had a decent experience. My therapist was amazing and I met some cool people and got through it pretty fast. But I saw so many of the girls around me being constantly treated as so incapabe... not allowed to make any decisions. I saw happy girls crumble in that program because they were made to feel like children without adult skills. I think this program has the potential to be great. But while some of the staff... Kevin, Amber, Kelly, Katie, Kytha, Juliana, Chigo... were AMAZING people... some of them... Mel, Clifton, Sarah, Adrienne, Michelle... were so incompitant and honestly just terrible at their jobs and working with troubled girls. It needs work. Real work.

My daughter worked the Fulshear program for 15 months. When she first arrived, she was at a very low point in her life and extremely vulnerable and scared. I thought I had lost my daughter and had come to accept the idea that I may never have a healthy relationship with her. I was grieving... Today, my daughter is confident, trusts her instincts and can communicate clearly with others. I see happiness and joy in her and it is genuine. Fulshear Treatment To Transition is like my second home. I was a client at Fulshear from December 28th 2017 until March 9th 2018. Fulshear was where I went from an angry, scared, and sad girl to a strong, powerful, and confident woman. Fulshear to me is very different from other programs because every single person who works there wants to be there and loves what they do. Fulshear helped me become more vulnerable with myself and helped me to take off all of my masks I would put on every day. This is a good program, but when looking for a treatment facility, its sort of like looking for an apartment. Difficult to find the right one for the right price. This program was a great fit for me, therapeutic wise and emotionally a secure place. As far as for someone who is looking for a therapeutic residential program, I would definitely say that this is a go to for me. I just wanted to write a little blurb about my experience at Fulshear. I was sick, for a lot of reasons. I had lots of symptoms of lots of different diseases. I had sought treatment for many years, in all different settings, in all different types of places. I couldn't figure out what was better about Fulshear than any of those other places, but then I said this to someone: "I think this article does a good job of explaining that the symptom of anorexia/bulimia/binge eating is just that. A symptom. With underlying causes and reasons. I believe the mental health system as a whole is flawed in believing treating symptoms will cure the disease(s). Treating the whole person, and getting to the reason behind the symptoms, the core issue, is the only way to dismantle all symptoms. I believe it is the only way to create a whole person again." I was talking about one of the hundreds of articles regarding eating disorders, but this was the difference. Fulshear treated me. As a whole person. Haley. Not my symptoms or my defensive persona. ME. I'm not perfect, and Fulshear wasn't this revelation where I rose from the ashes of my pain. But they helped put me on a path to finding myself, and to discover that path didn't matter...all that mattered?? ME. They loved me, and thus reminded me how to love myself. It will be uncomfortable and scary. It'll be exhilarating and heartbreaking. You'll learn crap about yourself you wish wasn't truth! But if you take what you learn and take accountability for yourself, you can feel better. But first you gotta let strangers help you.

Fulshear Ranch Academy is an experience you'll never forget. I had a therapist who helped in ways I thought no one could. I must say every therapist at Fulshear is amazing. They are highly qualified. The girls are very sweet, down to earth, and insightful and they want to see you grow. The staff are the sweetest people you'll ever meet and they genuinely care. If you are in need of help whether its for an addiction or you are depressed or maybe you struggle with isolation.. This is the place to go. I understand it's hard. No one wants to be away from their family but it's worth every moment you're there. It helps you to become more independent and more confident. When I first got there I had no self esteem and by the time I left I was beaming. They helped me realize there is a reason to live. If you are reading this I wish you the best of luck and I hope you choose Fulshear. Also please don't listen to negative reviews. My parents chose to ignore them and for it I am in a better place in my life.

Our daughter completed the Fulshear program three months ago. She was in the program for seventeen months. It was THE ABSOLUTE BEST GIFT we could have given her! There were loads of difficult times for her AND her family, but with the Fulshear team's patience, love and support, ALL of us got through them. The transitions allow room for failure to occur in a safe environment, which ultimately helps position young women for successful living as they grown and mature physically, spiritually, emotionally, and psychologically.

This place is all false advertisement. Fulshear is a negative, place that's harmful to the people who are there- staff and "students" (if you can even call them that). The staff of the place has the mentality that the girls are prisoners and the whole place is basically the Stanford Prison Experiment happening in 2013. Of the staff that was there for the 3 months I endured there: the only ones who were sane or educated and reasonable all quit and left in the short 3 months I was there. Also there is major abuse of privileges by those who are in power there. Things that are supposed to be used by the "ranch" like the Fulshear truck, are used as personal vehicles (i.e. taken overnight) by the head woman. That's another thing- it's pretty expensive, and all of they money parents spend, I can promise you, will not be spent on services rendered, like therapy, but rather on pay raises for the woman -Tracy- if she's still there, for a bigger truck, etc. Also the whole equine/horse aspect is just a gimmick to make it seem at all helpful, wholesome, or therapeutic, all of which it is not. The whole time I was there I was allowed to get on a horse maybe twice. You mostly spend time cleaning up their poop- and believe me that was the best part of each day. There is a very toxic dangerous environment there where the staff manipulates the girls against one another to gain power and control. Also the whole time I was there I received very little therapy. My original therapist was great- but she quit abruptly, and I think it was because she had a problem with the amoral abuses suffered by the girls and the lower staff there. Also they are anti-education there, despite what they may claim. They made it difficult for me to finish my high school diploma there, and they only allowed my to take the SAT because my parents forced them to. I was given no opportunity to study, and had to hide my SAT book and study in a closet. Save yourself a lot of heartache, and a lot of money and don't waste your time here.

I am the parent of a girl who completed the Fulshear program and graduated last month(May 2015), We sent our daughter to Fulshear because we felt that the program would help her make the difficult transition to adulthood. Our daughter had expressed that "life is hard" and we wanted to help her to get into a position where she could have more positive life experiences. It currently appears that the decision to send our daughter to Fulshear is one of the best decisions that we have made in our lives. Her attitude towards life and the people in her life has changed dramatically. She no longer lives with constant anger and anxiety. She has distanced herself from some of the negative influences in her life and she has learned how to deal with her negative emotions. She appears ready to lead a happy, productive life. Only time will tell if she will totally succeed in life, but I am confidant that Fulshear has done everything possible to help our daughter have a great chance for success. When we first visited the Fulshear Ranch facility. we were very impressed with the quality of the staff members that we met. They seemed to understand my daughter and her challenges. They also did an outstanding job of relating to her on this visit, especially the Clinical Director. He was the first therapist that seemed to understand her. Neither my daughter nor I placed a high value on therapy prior to Fulshear. This has now changed for me. Both my daughter's individual therapy and the family therapy we participated in with Fulshear were excellent and invaluable. This therapy has made a significant impact on all of our lives and we are thankful for our daughter's therapist. Fulshear hosts a family program every three months at the ranch in Needville. During these events, parents get the chance to have extensive interaction with the staff. We attended three of these programs and found all of the staff members to be caring and professional. In addition, they are genuinely nice people. They have a challenging, difficult job to do helping young ladies, some of which really don't want their help, but they meet the challenge and appear to help them all. The individual who works with the girls on recovery from addictions seems especially effective. He does numerous presentations at the family programs and I have great confidence in him. The family programs will also give you the chance to interact with other parents. This will help you with the perspective that you are not the only parents dealing with challenges. In summary, I believe that sending our daughter to Fulshear Treatment to Transition was the right thing to do. Unlike many of the other clients at Fulshear, our daughter had not attended other residential treatments programs. We feel that we are fortunate to have picked a program that has a positive, lasting impact on her life.

I was lucky enough to have a therapist at Fulshear who was helpful (Jeff), but i think the entirety of the program was otherwise detrimental to my well-being. I was attacked multiple times by other residents, and the program was often understaffed. I was also made fun of by some staff for my religious beliefs. At one point, l was told that i needed to learn how to shower, so they were going to have me shower in front of a staff member so she could "show me how to do it." I refused, and was told that I had to do it to move forward in the program. I was also witness to situations where the cook would refuse students' dietary needs & restrictions, including some girls being denied kosher foods, and being told they were picky when they refused to eat non-kosher foods. There are a lot of problems with Fulshear, many of which have also been addressed by people reviewing it on Yelp and Google. I wouldn't call it the worst place you could possibly send your child, but please, please, please consider any alternatives.

My daughter has struggled with a depression disorder for literally 1/2 of her life. She was in and out of 'treatment' programs, but they really didn't have a 'transition' program. They just medicate, some therapy and then push you out into the world, expecting you to use all the tools they taught you, with no follow up. Drug and alcohol programs are better than mental health programs, at least in Tx. Her Therapist, in Dallas, who admitted she was unable to help her any longer, highly recommended Fulshear. She had visited it 1st hand and had colleagues recommend it to her. Of course, it was scarey...as this was pretty much my daughters' last chance at getting the help she really needed. Helaine, the admissions director was so helpful, kind and understanding on the phone and when we went to Fulshear to admit. Yes, there were ups and downs. And, as you would expect in a mental health arena, there will be issues with the clients, be it the reasons they are there, or just normal 'young women' issues/ personalities trying to get along with one another. It is an unattainable expectation to believe there will be no drama or personality conflicts in this environment. With that being said, all of the staff was amazing with communicating with me and working with my daughter.... while helping her to achieve her goal of Healthy, Strong and Influential. Any issues we had were immediately addressed. Mental illness treatment is a roller coaster ride for all involved. All the clients have responsibilities assigned to them, such as cleaning stalls, cleaning the cottage they are in, do their own laundry, as well as attending group and individual therapy sessions. It all works into the treatment to transition program. I thought the equine therapy was 'cool', but I am a horse person.... my daughter, not so much... therapy wise. There are some 'staff dogs' that come occasionally, which also serves as therapy. Her therapist was / is awesome! He stayed in communication with me, and we had skype family sessions weekly. He is very prompt in answering emails, texts or voice mails. As someone else mentioned, I thought my daughter was the one learning and getting the treatment, but I also learned a lot about myself and her therapist helped me tend to those issues. Another great thing that Fulshear does is 'parent week' when parents and clients meet together in different informative sessions on a variety of subjects and areas of concern. (every 3 months) You can choose which sessions you wish to attend. They provided lunch, too! The transition specialist assigned to my daughter was fantastic! She started communicating with my daughter before the actual transition to the apartment, planning, setting goals and expectations. I visioned her with 'pom poms' cheering my daughter on 'you can do it.. you can do it'! ... and for me too, struggling with the upcoming independence. Fulshear also offers an 'after care' program which is continued therapy sessions and transition sessions after the client graduates from the program. VERY important. I HIGHLY recommend this program!

Take the actual time to discipline and care for your child. Odds are they will grow out of whatever makes you want them to go here. Its a sham. If your child is troubled, DONT send them to a group home of other troubled children. As a former trouble maker, I can promise you that they will just get in more trouble. I did. I raised hell at Fulshear. That was 5 years ago. Now I have my life together, and FRA had nothing to do with it. They take your money and make your kids more screwed up than they were before. Then when your kid is older, they will always have a secret disdain for the amount of time they were forced to spend at this horrible place.

It's been a little over a year since I left Fulshear, and a lot has changed since then. In fact so much to get me to a place where I am able to write this very letter in sitting Sugar Land Texas visitng from my home in southern california. You may be asking why did I chose to come visit Texas again? Well, that answer is simple in Feburary of 2013 I found Fulshear, and the staff and therapists changed my life forever. I'm not going to lie it wasn't all easy, and it wasn't all fun, and a lot of days I wanted to give up; but I stuck it it through, and my amazing therapist who never gave up on me always told me "Keep Moving Forward". So since leaving Fulshear I have had a few bumps in the road, but i picked myself back up and and walked on. I obtained my driver's license, and I have my own car. I started a part-time house cleaning business over the summer. I completed my first semester of college at Azusa Pacific University, part-time. And I mangae to make it to all my weekly therapy and monthy psychiatry appointments.I obtained SSI (Disability). And now I pay for all my own bills. I have never been this independent before, and I owe it all to Fulshear. I have personally been to several other treatment facilities out of state, and Fulshear is my number one hands down. There is no better place anywhere. And the staff and therapists are the best i have ever seen. I have never felt important and more cared about. Thank you for all you have done for me. You have truely shown me a new me.

If your daughter has been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder this is NOT the place for her. I went to visit 7 different residential centers to get help for my daughter and when I found Fulshear I thought I had finally found the place to heal her. This residential program maybe better for girls who have other issues but not bpd. I should have been told that. Now knowing what I know , my daughter should have been at a residential center that specialized in DBT. And they should have known that and advised me . After all they claim to be professionals , how did they not know that? Instead they took my $120,000 knowing that they were NOT the right place for borderline personality . I trusted them. I really loved the treatment center and everyone there when I first walked in and talked to them when we got there . But in the end they did not live up to their promises . They told me that they were the best fit for her and they said really didn’t believe in dbt all that much ( though they did a small amount of dbt work there) they also told me my daughter would be guided in what she wanted to pursue in life whether it was school or where she would live or what her next steps were to be after transitioning out of fulshear . When I got to graduation my daughter did not have ONE plan in place . I was promised she’d have a place to live or a job or be in a path to some kind of future. When I picked her up for graduation they had made no plans for her at all . According to our care plan she was not suppose to come back to our home as we felt that would set her back. But they made no transition plans for her , so she had no where to go , nowhere to live , no job or plans for school . After spending our life’s savings they just threw her right back at us. She was forced to sleep on our couch ( we had moved to an apartment ) until WE found somewhere for her to stay. Then it took months to physically get her out of our apartment . So after doing so much research and planning and due dilligence to find Fulshear , it didn’t matter . It was like throwing money out the window . The only great thing to come out of her stay there was her therapist . But she is still struggling 2 years later . I feel betrayed because we really trusted them to help her. I felt deceived and heart broken . They should have been honest and told us that Fulshear wasn’t the right the right place for her. I was so deeply disappointed in them and their broken promises . After spending that kind of money , which we are still trying to pay off , not ONCE did they call to see how she was doing . They knew how upset we were . We were promised she’d have a plan in place after graduation . They lied and were deceitful . They made us feel like we were crazy . I really thought they were going to care about my daughter and I can’t tell you how wrong I was about this place

Critical: Professionalism, Quality Fulshear Treatment to Transition is the worst example of a treatment center. Although, I fully graduated I left here with more scars to heal from than I came with. I came to Fulshear after being at another residential center which actually did help. I just aged out of the previous program because I turned 18. I was told they would help me become even happier (I had already made some progress) and more independent. In my time on the ranch (about 4-6 months) I witnessed multiple fights, I had to stop someone from hurting themselves with glass with no staff in sight, and some women had hygiene issues that posed health risks to others (period blood around the house, poop in laundry machines etc). I actually slept on the couch because one of my roommates was so unclean I couldn’t ignore the smell in my room. This place takes on too many tough cases and doesn't have the staff to back it. I know of at least 2 clients who passed away too young after having a bad experience at Fulshear. After the ranch you transition to the apartments. A whole new beast. There was rarely enough transportation for girls to get to and from work. Groups were always late. Also after following program rules and getting a job to save money, going to all groups not to mention the other disasters on the ranch I was rushed through to graduate earlier than I had planned. Not that I didn’t want to graduate but I needed time to save money and find an affordable apartment. I was rushed out because they chose to hire someone who assaulted me at a previous center. She broke my back when she assaulted me and was found at fault, fired and unable to work in mental health care in that state. Unfortunately, these rules don't apply across all states and she knew people at Fulshear who could help pull strings to get her get hired anyway. Also after leaving staff contacted my friends and violated my confidentiality. They pushed away a dear friend of mine with baseless insults. This center is a mess. Do your loved ones a favor and please find a better treatment option. I know how it is to feel discouraged and want to help. However, you want the proper care and treatment for your loved ones and I assure you this is not the place. They care about your money not the people you love and this place will leave them scarred.

Fulshear has caused me an irreparable amount of trauma when they were supposed to help me heal. I went to Fulshear under my own will and idea back in late 2020 when I was at one of the darkest places of my life and it's taken this long for me to be able to be in a good enough mind space to post it. That should speak for itself. When I got to Fulshear and after I got checked in, I was completely left alone. No one told me the schedule or even showed me a schedule, and I ended up missing meals, groups, and therapy sessions because I was too anxious to leave my bedroom on my first day to ask. That is something they should anticipate happening as it happens quite often. Clients constantly got blamed for issues and the staff could do nothing for the clients and were poorly trained. They were forced to do notes on the clients for hours instead of spending time with them and helping them. Bullying was a common occurrence and clients ended up in the hospital due to the trauma caused by that even though I specifically talked to multiple staff and the residential director at the Ranch about it, who is still there in the same position. I was told that they couldn't do anything about it. The residential and clinical directors could also care less to do anything about it because they're in their own little leadership bubble and barely visit the residential cabins or talk about residential life. The staff would leave clients alone for hours a day and would mark them as in groups when in reality, they could be doing anything. I did not eat for three days in a row because of the amount of emotional distress from my PTSD I was in and no one noticed or mentioned anything. My therapist would spend our sessions either in silence or playing ping pong. I am one of the lucky ones that advocated and got myself out after only a couple of months, but the amount that I regressed is insane for the amount of money my family paid to be there. And after I decided to leave, they pretty much forced the community to shun me and they shamed me for any emotions I showed, no matter if they were productively expressed or not. Because of Fulshear, I have severe blocks towards therapy and residential centers. I frequently get severe flashbacks, and my everyday life including relationships has been negatively affected and is still negatively affected to this day. I can say that I will NEVER be able to seek out treatment again, even from an outpatient therapist or coach. Trust me, I have tried, but because of the damage caused at Fulshear, I am truly unable to. They have caused me so much mental and emotional harm that I have to accept that I will have to live with that for the rest of my life. I have to heal myself when we were paying them to help. I know my review is going to sound like I am a whinny, emotional girl complaining about a place they didn't want to be. But please don't forget that I wanted to go there, I wanted to heal, I wanted to trust. I didn't go seeking anything negative or in a negative mindset. I encourage anyone that's reading this with an intention to see if Fulshear is for them to seek out other support(not education consultants!) and unsilenced.org for more resources on how to find the right treatment for yourself and your loved ones so you can best heal. People out there care about you. Please do your research. You're worth it.
