Active duty and veterans beware. Facility looks nice and the management talks like they care but they do not. You will be stuck with a huge bill. The help for heroes program is a sham. They told me I would only be with other veterans but wound up being with everyone else. They also told me that I would be getting help for my substance use but no one there knew anything about working with addiction. They just gave me a booklet to fill out on my own. Just another place taking advantage of the military.

Staff in admissions is great. Jennifer & Melissa have been very helpful through their website chat feature and calling me daily to follow up on my friend admitting. They answer all of my questions and are very calming and sweet. I have another friend that went through here for detox as well and they took great care of her. I trust this place with my loved ones.

The food suck, the “beds” are just mats on a shelf. It’s always way to cold. No one tells you when groups are starting and it’s hard to find a clock anywhere. At least the people are nice. All In all, this place did more harm then good for me.

Most of the things people are complaining about on the reviews are false from my 10 day stay there. You get out of it what you put into it, so I’m guessing they were relapsing and placing blame, or did not put much into it. I was never disrespected by the staff, never ignored, and I feel like they do more than is required. It is True, some folks are suffering worse than others, but I saw a level of care here that I have never experienced in the past at any other location. The staff went out of their way on numerous occasions to make sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. They do everything they can at night to make it possible to sleep, including giving you medication to help. I could not have asked for more in a wellness facility.

I was also assaulted while I was here by another patient. If you love whoever you plan on sending them to here, you will keep them away from Rock Springs. STAY AWAY FROM HERE

I just got out of here yesterday and my experience here was life-saving. I was admitted on February 21st after a suicide attempt, and at first I was absolutely terrified of coming here because of my previous traumatizing experience in another psychiatric hospital. I stayed in the Sunrise sober living unit, where for the most part the other patients were quiet and friendly. All of the staff (especially Ashlyn, Ryan, and Tanner) were incredibly kind and helpful. Everyday there\'s multiple group therapies, including yoga, art, music, and rec therapy. The leaders of those groups were all energetic and ready to teach us. I especially loved that they had visitation time every day, as well as you can use the phone at almost anytime during the day, and they have family lunch on Saturdays. All of the men and women in this unit slept in rooms next to each other (obviously never in the same room), although the staff comes to check on each patient every 15 minutes so I was never too worried about a someone coming into my room. They also have about 5-7 outside times a day (for smoke breaks), so don\'t worry about being trapped inside the whole time. The gym had a surprisingly large variety of exercise machines too. The main problem I had was the food. I\'m vegan, and I informed multiple nurses, dieticians, and cooks before they actually started offering more options to me. They really didn\'t have many options for anyone with food allergies or special diets, so just make sure you\'re persistent about it if you have dietary needs. Overall, I had a really positive experience here. All of the staff were ready to help me at anytime of the day or night, and their positivity made my stay even more enjoyable. I was almost sad to leave inpatient.

I self-admitted myself here three times from October to January of 2017-2018. My stay here was overwhelmingly positive. The only reason I’m giving this a four star review is because of the issues I saw OTHER PEOPLE go through while staying at this facility. I would personally recommend this facility to any friends or family seeking mental health/substance abuse treatment AFTER explaining to them what to expect. I stayed in the mental health unit. There are three onsite; mental health(cedars), substance abuse/detox(sunrise), and one for military members(meadows). This is not a “loony bin”, there is a wide range of varying mental disorders in patients but in my experience mainly depression and bipolar. I received my first diagnosis’s from this facility and it has empowered me, this place was the first step in a better, happier self. The techs on staff were amazing, a few in particular but it’s been a year so sadly I don’t remember their names. The groups are informative and different every day but repeat weekly so you don’t get bored of them. My main complaint against staff was my first doctor, he was an Indian man and when I told him about a sexual assault I experienced as a teenager he was very insensitive and inappropriate. I made a complaint and was moved to a different doctor immediately. The food was good for the most part, I was vegan at the time and the chief came and met with me and went out of his way to purchase and prepare things specifically for me. The staff were very good at dealing with aggressive patients, I saw them do absolutely everything they could before restraining or sedating them (it only got that far once in the three times I stayed there). I DO WANT TO STRESS THIS THOUGH, if you are self admitted they CAN put you under a court order while you’re there if you try to leave against your doctors opinion. This is the main thing I saw people get angry about while there. Your doctor has to release you, you signed yourself over into their care. Every time I stayed I was there any where from 5 days to a week and a half. I followed what my doctor said and if I felt better and ready to go home I communicated it to my doctor and at every vital check in I told them I felt great. Advocate for yourself in a calm reasonable manner or have someone on your consent who is able to for you! Thank you though Rock Springs! My stay there and in your outpatient program has truly changed my life, I found out while in your care that I was suffering from substance abuse and I am now sober! God bless you guys

It’s an expensive place but it’s the best place!! They will do everything they can to get you the help they need. The first day is alway a lil scary but it’ll be okay. If you’re dealing with any type of addiction or depression this is the place to go. They treat you with respect and everyone’s nice. It’s not a crazy place where you’ll get stuck there.

this is not a good place to work if your looking for a peaceful environment. I did housekeeping for 6 months and it was nothing but hell, the supervisors were disrespectful, refused to communicate with other co workers and even yelled and threatened me, underpaid me and expected me to do all of the work while they just walked around all day. supervisors play favorites and are choosy about when they want to count something as wrong. i don\'t recommend at all.

This place is a complete joke!! This is a place where they don\'t give a rats butt about the patients!! They believe that once they are on medication, that\'s it! They release them on their own accord even if they don\'t have a place to stay. This place is NOTORIOUS for DUMPING patients at the Killeen Shelter and also telling patient families to bring them to the shelter KNOWING VERY WELL that the shelter DOES NOT TAKE ANY HOMELESS PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN TO ROCKSPRINGS!!!! The manager of the Killeen shelter has made NUMEROUS complaints to this facility about dropping patients off here or telling them or their families that they can stay here! I am going to report them to the Bell county District attorney who helped us get my Aunt in here. If someone knows anyone else I can report this facility to for placing patients who shouldn\'t be leaving the facility out on the streets to fend for themselves without the proper care or even sanity, please let me know!!! My aunt is still there and will be released soon. She is not sane, she is not well, but because she\'s on medication they are gonna release her. She cannot make sound decisions for herself in the real world but because of the laws regarding mental health, there is little to nothing we can do to help her unless we dish out thousands of dollars which we don\'t have. How can you release a patient that was brought in by the sherrif\'s just because she\'s taking medication? After a quick visit with her a few days ago, she\'s exactly the same. She was taken in about a month ago and she\'s still the same insane, uncooperative, delusional person she was when she stepped foot into the place. She cannot survive outside that facility on her own! She doesn\'t drink, smoke, do drugs but she just can\'t make sound decisions for her own survival! Let me guess why you are dumping her out....money?? My aunt has no insurance, no job, no money, our family is not wealthy, and this is how we treat mental health patients??? For the love of all things holy, DO NOT HAVE YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS SENT HERE!! we had no choice, the sheriff\'s took her here. The reason why no one in the family can take her in is because she\'s verbally and physically tried to harm people and we all have children or the elderly live with us! She needs a place where they are willing to work with her and we had prayed this place would be her salvation, but to our dismay, it is not! Shame on you ROCKSPRINGS!! I pray that whoever makes this decision will NEVER have to live through what family members or patients go through! Karma is alive and well and will hit you back 10-fold!! The receptionists were great but the staff does not respect the patients nor the timelines they are on for doctor\'s appointment outside the center. The case worker said inappropriate things to patients and was not reprimanded nor apologized to the patient. The buck was passed and constant run around was given.

I had a horrible experience. I have Bipolar Type 1 and was in due to a manic episode. They were originally putting me into a substance abuse ward apparently due to some mix up, switched me and put me into the correct ward for mental health but my wrist band still had the name of a doctor for the substance abuse ward and whenever they asked for my doctor\'s name I would state the name on the wristband and they would say \"There is no doctor here with that name.\" As someone who was already having hallucinations and imagining that the universe was communicating with them this was very disconcerting. They also didn\'t get me in to see a psychiatrist for 4 days out of the 7 that I was there for. It was also hard for me to be around a rotating \'cast\' of other mentally ill people. Everyone lied to each other. I never knew what was on the schedule for the day because the employees frequently switched the activities on us. I was treated like a child. My time there did not help my mental health whatsoever. They also were refusing to fill out paperwork that I needed to turn into my workplace in order to validate the leave I had to take to get treatment. They refused to fill it out for months, stating privacy laws. I had to go in and make a fuss and only then did they let me talk to a director who was actually helpful.

This facility saved my life. I needed help and I received compassionate care. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was excellent. I would definitely recommend this facility to anyone that needed it. And I would hope their recovery could be as smooth as mine was thanks to their help.

While I was in there, the second set of night nurses were extremely rude they would continuously shush us, might I add we were speaking at maybe right above a whisper and not but ten minutes after hushing us and not even treating us like human beings they got ice cream and got at least three times louder than us, and that probably continued for about 15 minutes I was extremely insulted. Now I get my bill and I try to call to set up some kind of plan, since they wouldn\'t let me out unless I moved back to my mothers house three house away, I had to lose my job that I just got, because if I showed any signs of not going home to my mother they were going to keep me 5 to 7 days longer. So I called the number on the bill I got that say if questions please call, got transferred 4 times to people who clearly didnt know what they were doing, the lady finally said let me give you to corporate which went straight to voicemail or a directory of names and the lady gave me no name and did not pick up when called back terrible system

\"Voluntarily\" signed myself in while I was in the midst of a psychotic manic episode. I didn\'t realize what I was doing, I wasn\'t sane. I ended up being kept there for 7 days. I didn\'t understand what was happening. Nobody told me that there was a schedule, when breakfast was, how to get toiletries, how the bathrooms worked. The nurses were not nice and not helpful. I did not enjoy my stay and I do not feel that Rock Springs helped me at all.

I am doing so much better now having left Rock Springs. I was inpatient for about a week and did the php program for a few more weeks. About a month total I think. Between the medication and the therapy I can say my life has changed significantly in a positive way. Thank you to all the staff at Rock Springs. I really feel my time there was special and meaningful.

Very rude staff- I called to find out if they offer mental health services to adolescents and children and the receptionist told me they only took care of adults. I was in the middle of asking her a follow up question and she just hung up on me!

I just received a phone call insisting that I get on google and give a 5 star review. I\'m familiar with customer service and how these reviews work, less than perfect is bad. However I don\'t like being told to give a 5 star review by someone that has no concern of how my care was, just that I need to get on and give a review. The nature of services here is largely the reason why I hadn\'t gotten on and publicly posted a review. Any details I provide as to why I gave 2 stars is very personal in nature but I am posting a review in hopes I don\'t get more phone calls from a pushy person. I would not recommend services here to others before the phone call.

I have noted that the nursing care at Rock Springs is individualized, compassionate and patient safety is of utmost concern. From the CEO and Director of Nursing down I have observed leadership with vision, high expectations and respect for the clients and the staff. Patient preferences and staff/patient collaboration are goals that are realized. What I find most gratifying to observe is that it is a caring work environment, staff like their jobs and they are able to do a great job. The staff are amazing here. The administration and staff at Rock Springs support student learning and have been excellent with supporting our ACC nursing students. All of this impacts the patient care in a very positive way.

I was prescribed wrong medications that almost killed me. My first doctor did not check my medical records and gave me Oxcarbazepine. He did not tell me side affects. My heart starting fluttering, my left shoulder and arm went very tight. I was checked by one of the wonderful nurses there, and she said I had carditac. My therapist did not do what he said he would do. Was there 14 days. The first phone call my husband got was on Wednesday and that was from the financial department telling him we owe them money. The staff on the floor is fantastic, very caring. Upper management and my first doctor and therapist were awful. I saw fights, I saw breakdowns, and I saw seizures. I have more health issues now.

Our daughter recently sought treatment as a self-admit patient at this location during a mental health crisis. During her stay, she was lied to by her healthcare team. She was threatened with a longer stay while trying to exercise her right to leave as a self-admit patient. In violation of the posted Patient Bill of Rights, she was told she\'d be cut off from any further treatment and aftercare options if she did exercise that right. She was threatened with having her stay converted to an involuntary one and having to go to court. Our daughter suffers from anxiety as one of her health concerns, so this additional stress was detrimental to her well-being. In the words of her primary (non Rock Springs) therapist, months of work were undone in this one week-long visit. During her stay she also witnessed one of their counselors telling a veteran with PTSD to \"just accept it, there\'s no hope for you.\" I believe Rock Springs attempted to force her to stay against her wishes for no apparent health reason, which leaves me to assume they were more interested in money than her health. Once we had retained counsel on her behalf, they let her go immediately. There are many other options for quality mental health care in the Austin area, this location should be avoided.

I couldn’t agree more with those who say they will keep you there AGAINST YOUR WILL if you sign in voluntarily! Not to mention, I SIGNED my husband in, he was not looking at me or listening to me as I signed him in and signed his papers, nor did he verbally give me permission. He was there for 72 hours and is not being released and his dr will not give him a reason why. We are now on day 5 and they are threatening to court order him to stay when he is no threat to himself, or anyone. He is the most coherent individual in his unit and all of the stress this is putting on him is unacceptable. The doctor goes and asks him 3 questions at 730 in the morning as he’s waking up and then leaves. He does not talk to him or get to know his situation, much less listen to concerns. His therapist has been helpful, but even now says it’s still up to the dr and he would take him to court to make him stay. I am reporting them to the BBB, JCAHO, and the Medical Review Board in the morning if they do not release him. I have also gotten in contact with KXAN as this is unacceptable. They will keep you to get paid by your insurance (This is insurance fraud, and I work in insurance). Please do not self admit yourself here. Find another place to go.

My 28 Days at Rock Springs in the Resilient Warrior Program was the best treatment I have ever received in 13 years in the Army. Every single one of the Staff were there to help us get better, not there just to collect a paycheck like most other places I\'ve been. The facility is clean and the therapist are definitely subject matter experts. Thank you for the PTSD Treatment. Definitely recommend!

Great Staff and atmosphere. From the Doctors, counselors to kitchen staff are amazing. Mrs. Danielle, Mr. Jason, Mr. Leroy, Mrs. Amanda and Mr. Damien and that section, are the reason I\'m alive today! I was completely broken and ready to end it. They were professional and ensured I got the treatment and support I needed to continue to fight, and deal with life again after the military and numerous deployments. This is the WORST treatment center I have ever experienced. DO NOT allow anyone you care about to go here. The direct care staff, therapists, and all are incredibly rude and condescending. The care is the OPPOSITE of \"kind and nurturing.\" The food is absolutely terrible. When you admit someone into a facility to feel better, the least you expect is attention, supportive and caring to the patient. This place is set up like a prison. I would like to file a negligent claim to their patients. There are other places in Austin and surrounding areas for care. In the name of confidentiality, I won\'t name my therapist, but he is the BEST therapist I\'ve EVER had, and I\'ve had many. His teaching of DBT techniques are the most helpful and useful tools I have ever had for my anxiety, outside of using medications which are highly addictive, and can have nasty side effects. Kudos to you Rock Springs! Just what I needed. I strongly suggest the IOP program here. The other two I\'ve been through in the Austin area are a joke compared to Rock Springs!

My daughter went here totally by accident. She said it is very dirty and the staff will not acknowledge you and if you say something to them, they just respond, \"I am busy\". She had to go to the desk and ask for her meds because they did not bring them to her. The doctor wanted to change her medications because she was too happy. She called me and said for me to come get her. I did, and they made me sit in the lobby for over two hours. My husband finally got his belly full and called the police. She was released within 15 minutes. They kept telling us they were doing paper work and then it was that she was in a session. My daughter said after she called me, she just sat in a chair up by the desk just waiting. All this place is interested in money. She said all the food except the snacks had some kind of Indian seasoning and it tasted really bad. This is not the place to go for help.

I was a depressed anxious addict and Rock Springs has taught me how to live again. Giving me the means to manage life\'s ups and downs. If you are reading this, then you may be looking for similar help. In my experience, the staff were dedicated to helping in any way they could. The hospital itself, was well kept and offered a great deal of accommodations. I have put off this review because I don\'t particularly enjoy crying. I have no words, that can envelope my affection for the help I received. For the friends I made. For aid given in my recovery. For giving me a place to feel safe. And for the staff I will never forget. Again, no words. I am living proof of the impact Rock Springs can have on you. Ten star rating!!!

Terrible staff. Edit: I\'d actually much more prefer if my concerns were made public, to save the loved ones of others from being detained in a facility which borders on being abusive. My close friend was self admitted here, and the steps this facility went through to keep her stuck there and unable to communicate can be justifiably called medical malpractice. For starters, trying to contact a patient is comparable to contacting someone in a north korean prison camp. Try calling the number listed on their website (spoiler: it doesn\'t work). For several days I tried calling the facility\'s phone, another facility phone my friend had called me on her first day, and on her cell phone which she was allowed to use. The first two of the former would never even ring and her cell phone would ring once before the call would be ignored. Even more disturbing: after she was finally released, NONE OF MY CALLS OR TEXTS WERE ON HER PHONE. From my research, this is much less an isolated case and more the standard in that shady place, as many other guests have confirmed with the two of us that their confused family members are absolutely livid they can not get through with no evidence. Don\'t even bother asking the staff to pass on a message, they absolutely will not. Speaking of the staff, they\'re absolute morons save for the actual doctors themselves. There were several instances during group therapy where a staff member would reveal patient confidential information to other patients to gain leverage over other patients and silence their complaints. Also, despite having my friends patient code and being listed on her medical information release list, the staff outright LIED TO ME saying they could not tell me when she could be released, or why she was continuing to be held. (I\'m talking about you, Billy, who works in the cedar unit, you vapid donkey). I had to contact my friends father, who finally got through to the local sheriff\'s department. The situation honestly had to escalate to a fever-pitch before they would comply whatsoever. Absolutely disgusting. I could go on forever about how sketchy this place is, but you can just scroll past all of the blatantly fake 5-star reviews and see what actual people are saying about this dump. I\'d also like to point out \"David Gaston\'s\" review is absolutely hilarious. I\'d put my bottom dollar down that he is staffed there and part of their enduring cycle of neglect.

Worst thing we could have done for our son. He just turned 18 so as an adult was able to voluntarily admit himself. He did so because his online counselor recommended in-patient facility so he could get the more intensive individual therapy he wanted. When we checked in on a Thursday afternoon no one explained anything about the program or what he could expect. Had this been done we would have known immediatly this place was not for him. He was taken back for a "screening" before he could complete the stack of forms he was given. He never came back out and I was unable to see him before I left. The finance office made sure to collect payment for our portion of the insurance though and it was only then that I learned it was an 8-day program. We were told (and the voicemail still says) we could leave him messages which would be screened by staff daily and given to him. 3 days into his confinement (no better word for it) he called and said he was just sitting in his room, no counseling, no one seeing him but they were giving him medication. He was put with a group of over-50 patients who were mainly PTSD patients. I asked staff and were told TWICE that he could check himself out at any time because he was voluntary admission. He wanted to leave but he couldn't unless he signed and AMA (Against Medical Advice) form, which he did. It was immediately denied and he was placed on a 24 hour involuntary hold so the Psychiatrist could go to court and have him confined against his will. Staff doesn't know anything and you will get different answers from each staff member to the same question. Only after insisting to talk to the "House Manager" on Sunday did we learn that the messaging system doesn't work, there IS NO INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING AT ALL, a schedule is printed for the patients to read and go to group therapy IF THEY CHOOSE TO, My son has received absolutely no help at this facility and they are just milking insurance for as many days as they can. I could put him up in a $500 a night hotel cheaper than we're paying them or send him to see a therapist DAILY for a month for less than one day stay at this place and he would be better off. I cannot, would not, will not in any way ever recommend this place to anyone for any reason. They are only about the money they can get from you.

Absolute horrible place. I went voluntary over a week ago for an assessment for like 45 min and the woman said she would recommend me for treatment. She said someone would get back to me the very next day. No one ever did and its been over a week. I even called, left messages about an answer and ...nothing. I now see that all these negative reviews are true and what happened to me is common. I can only imagine they deal with people when the are involuntary committed by the police, even then the reviews suggest you are treated like a lab rat. Imagine people who are in dire need? I found better help elsewhere.
