The Doctors, nurses, and technicians have all been very caring and helpful. They have treated me with kindness and respect. Even the people in the canteen have gone out of the way to help. I have had good care and bad care at different VA clinics and hospitals, this is a very good one.

I see these 1 star reviews from other people, and KNOW that they are not talking about this facility. All of the people here, and I mean all of them, have treated me with the utmost respect and courtesy. Every time I go to the Bonham VA, I'm almost embarrassed by the VIP treatment that I get. I wish there were enough room on this review for me to name all of the staff that have helped me. Don't believe any of the bs written by idiots.

30 min on hold no one answered and at 3:30 was just disconnected. Called main number at 3:30 and no answer and just keep getting disconnected. Their not suppose to close till 4:30. Are they just there collecting a pay check? Maybe they should just close this office, their not doing anything for us vets

I submitted my initial claim here when i first got out. They lost it, while constantly telling me over phone that if anything changed they'd contact me. Years later, one mentioned they couldn't find any claim. I lost years (of care, of compensation, and had to pay for va care for years) over this failure. Every appointment i had here lasted hours. The last straw was when my appointment was for 11am, every hour for first couple hours i went to check at counter, every 30 minutes after that. When they were closing up, i was the last patient left in lobby. I went up to counter, starting to show a considerable amount of impatience, and they finally saw me. Never again went back to this location.

My boyfriend has been dealing with this VA about some issues the last few months. He's in so much physical pain that he can't complete a shift at work. It took them weeks to get him in for a CT and the whole time refused any medication. His PCP said Pain Management does medication but Pain Management told him to ask his PCP. If the PCP can't see him they say go to the Clinic yet the Clinic says visit your PCP. When he contacted the "patient advocate" he was told to go to the local ER which he had already done because the VA has refused to do anything. This place is a unbelievable! Aren't they supposed to be there to help veterans?

Worthless human beings work at this facility. I’m normally seen at the Plano Outpatient clinic. They don’t answer the phone so I called Bonham needing medical and mental health appts. The Rep who answered the phone told me I have to keep calling Plano, and that it’s not his problem they don’t answer the phone. What a waste of taxpayer money.

Terrible. Simply Terrible. The patient care rep is not ever on the patient's side. As former service members (who learn to curse all day everyday in the service) We are threatened with removal from the system and jailtime for cursing here. They used to have a good "patient care" nurse here. She retired. Now we have idiots who would rather you DIE than get treated. They downplay all illness and injuries. Let me reiterate, the Bonham VA and it's staff would rather the patient die and go away than be treated. ALSO, I forgot to mention that if you ever take a wrong tone, utter a curse word, or disagree with staff, the enormously ignorant VA Police will hound you, follow you, and bully you, anytime you step foot on VA property. VA police are worthless bullies hiding behind their badges and guns.

This facility is great! It's nice and clean. There are lots of fun things to do like watch movies, lift weights, grill out, walk around the park, throw a football or baseball (in your down time). During classes there's lots to learn, great counselors and teachers. They even have an arts and crafts room, a conference room, and a day room. I like the cactus room. This facility is on the ball, helpful and kind. They don't treat the Vets here like an addict. Good place to go for Veterans that are ready to get help they need for a range of issues, e.g., depression, substance abuse, PTSD, sexual trauma. etc.

I spent almost four months here going through the two phase Rehabilitation program. It helped me to put my life back on track and start moving in a positive direction once again. I read a few comments made by others who have been through this program and not going into any accusations about there experience there they seem fixated on the "I couident get my pain meds complaint" instead of providing the public with positive facts about this hospital. They see veterans from hundreds of miles around and provide thousands of veterans with medical,dental, and just about every medical service. They are good hard working people there who live in the middle of know where serving those who served. Please do not take the word or a disgruntled man in rehab complaining about pain meds.

Anyone grumbling about the Bonham VA facility probably grumbles about all else. Never a long wait. Always very professional treatment and the utmost respect goes both ways. Veterans are always thanked for 'their service'. Today's heroes work at the VA!

With the change in VA policy the doctors here are more concerned with the way they look instead of properly treating patients. 12 years at another amazing VA. Bonham though shou'd be shut down and their obtuse arrogant head of rhe clinic Doctor Shenfeld (sp?) Should prosacuted.

Just transferred in, after living out west for a few years. I had a hard time finding a place to stay, so I ended up in a flop house for three weeks in the bad part of Dallas. People getting mugged or outright killed was an everyday occurrence. But I was closing on a home in three weeks, and didn't have the extra money to spend in a nice hotel. So the nurse is talking to me asking about how I have been feeling and my pain level on a scale of 1-10. I told her I had been out of pain medication because I was in transit from one place to another. I also told her that I had been sleeping with a gun under my pillow. She never bothered to consider it might be something different than a homeless guy wanting pain meds and sleeping with a gun. Anyway, she briefs Dr Bonchak before I see the doctor. Dr Bonchak gets the mental health guy and they treat me worse than any homeless person would have been treated. No introductions, just accusations, and never asking about "the rest of the story". Dr Bonchak demands to know why I didn't bring all my prescription med bottles with me. I told him I believed the VA system should talk to each other, and that all he had to do was look in the system. I told them that I was getting my heart medicine (I have a pacemaker) through my cardiologist because they don't stock Toporol XL, but that my script for Toporol Succinate was still in the listing of meds. I also told them that my family practice doctor had me on Atorvastatin because the Pravastatin prescribed for me through the VA was not working, and the VA doesn't carry Atorvastatin. Dr Bohchak then jumped all over me AGAIN, and demanded to know why I didn't bring in my bottles of medicine. It finally dawned on me what was happening. They thought that because I was unkempt, and had asked for a refill of my pain medicine which had not been refilled for 2 months, that I was just there to try to get pain medicine. And I finally realized that the second person in the room was from mental health. Well, By God, I'm not in anyone's military anymore, especially Dr Bonchak's military. He had no right jumping to conclusions and also the degrading way he treated me and talked to me. I have multiple engineering degrees, an education degree, and two classes short of an MBA. Just because I was in a bad situation and didn't answer their questions exactly how they wanted me to, (instead I told the truth), I was humiliated and degraded. Needless to say, I asked for a different primary care physician. If I could rate this experience and the nurse for Dr Bonchak and Dr Bonchak a zero (no stars), I would do it. What a terrible experience, especially after I scrimped and saved to purchase a home in that area.
