Never take your child here, let me tell you why. My friend who recently attended their for sixth months came back completely different. This different was not in a positive way. She use to love talking and doing my hair and lots of other sweet things. She smiled a lot. She ended up having some issues..so her parents put her here. She came back as, a quiet and sensitive girl. She didn’t even look all that well.. I tried talking to her but she barely spoke to me. A few days later she finally warmed up and told me what happened. She said that the staff were horrible, and that it made her even more uncomfortable being there. It LOOKS depressing. How do you suspect it’s gonna be a good place? the rating are horrible, the environment is as well. It’s a gated facility which makes it even worse. Being isolated, feeling trapped in, without anyone to talk to DOES NOT HELP YOUR CHILD. It makes matters worse, and you can trust me on that. Your child needs to be surrounded by love, happiness. Not a depressing room, without any windows or games or even books to read.

If the Executive staff will talk to unprofessionally, imagine how they will treat your child. I spoke w/ Theresa-Assistant Director of Intake to cancel our assessment b/c we went with a facility that had another bed open up that was closer to us in location. She said since you are cancelling we are putting you at the bottom of the wait list and you cancelled before. I told her the initial cancel was due to miscommunication of the placement coordinator that I had never cancelled before, she responded \" well I am just stating the facts\". When I asked to speak with the Director of Admission-Shellie Hassel-she said she was unavailable and did not have a voicemail where I could leave a message. She said \"Didn\'t you already find a facility\" I replied yes and she responded \" Well since you found somewhere and that is where you are going-Have a good day\".

My family and I was there today seaking help for my son and I could hear the staff talking about us? They are so disrespectful! As I was waiting in the lobby I started to read the policies and one of the staff members noticed ,she all most hit me with the door and stated \"yes ma\'am, can I help you!\" The policy was behind the door so she block me from reading! It smells like old beer and I couldn\'t see this place as a refuge. I stop filling out the paperwork and did not feel comfortable releasing my insurance information to this company! Therefore we left because I love my son and I be damned if I left him in the care of these unprofessional fools!

My Daughter was here for 7 months, prior to being here she was in and out of short term facilities. She was dealing with a lot of depression, anger, and self harm. She is a lot better thanks to the staff here for not giving up on her even when she wanted to give up on herself. Thank you to everyone for all your help. I’d recommend this place to anyone who is struggling with their teens.

Dr. Pierson - Physician I am a former patient. I stayed because of I was dealing with a monstrous amount of depression and anxiety and self harm. I signed the paper work after I was released from the hospital thinking I would get the help I needed. I have a lot of medicine that I have to take. I wasn\'t allowed to take any of it which resulted in severe migraines and insomnia. The doctor was no help at all. He seemed annoyed that I was there. He didn\'t offer me any assistance besides trying a new medication. I thought I would be separated from the more chronic patients, or at least that\'s what I was told on intake. None of us were separated. So, while I was struggling to find my own coping mechanisms I was also dealing with chronic patients who were very disruptive on a minute by minute basis. I found myself verbally assaulted several times by patients who were chronic. I know it\'s not their fault and they may not have even recognized who or why they were screaming obscenities at but the staff is never watchful. College students who sit on their phones all day. Interns running group with hilarious and woefully unhelpful ideas. Staff who believe that holistic alternatives are better than actual medical practice. There were people there for rehab who were stressed out by the constant screaming and outbursts of some of the more chronic patients. The staff was made up of mostly MHA\'s, which is fine I guess. It was my understanding that a doctor would always be available to talk to but most of the time they were gone. In fact, many of us were suddenly released because the main doctor wanted to go on vacation. I didn\'t get any release information or continued care. No one did. So after my stay I was left to discover my own resources, and thinking about it I\'m glad I did. But how many people who face mental illness do that? I saw an addict released with no resources. They took him back to where they picked him up and simply nodded a \"good bye.\" No continued care, no assistance what-so-ever. The facility was never clean. When another patient remarked on this they were told \"Well, that\'s because you people keep eating in your rooms.\" There were bugs everywhere. The recreational activities are a joke. The staff member running them was very rude with an \"everyone must participate,\" rule even though many of the games this person brought only included a handful of people. So, the set up for failure was pretty strong. This person not only made strange demands but insulted several patients. When I informed staff about this I was given a shrug and told, \"yeah, they are like that.\" Have an allergy to certain foods? Diabetic? They\'ll feed you one option for all three meals. I watched a patient severed the same thing for four days straight because they had a very limited diet. Look, I wasn\'t in this for a vacation. I wasn\'t going hoping for a spa of some sort but there was no help for me, and I noticed, others there. If I hadn\'t dug myself out of it, I think I\'d be back in the hospital. Sure, some of the staff members are nice and try to help. But most of them there are rude and just don\'t care. I sincerely hope that the good staff members find different places to work and that this place either changes or is shut down. Don\'t go here, or send your children here. This facility only exists to make money.

In my humble opinion this facility could find staff that is actually compassionate and caring. They seem to only be concerned with money and keeping you medicated than actually addressing your underlying issues to resolve your problems.

Our youngest daughter, who was adopted through CPS at the age of 6, was emotionally imploding as she entered her teens. For over 2 years, she progressively deteriorated and was in and out of acute facilities. It got to the point where a residential inpatient treatment was needed and Cedar Crest accepted her. After admission, she continued to deteriorate. We were afraid we were loosing her. As she deteriorated, the hospital staff stepped up to the plate with a more intense regimen and regrouped on her diagnosis. I can still remember the week where she finally made a turn around. There were still a couple bumps in the road for her recovery, but she did a complete turn around. It took four months, but we have our daughter back. All thoughts of self harm are gone and she\'s able to cope with stressful situations. Placing our child into an RTC was a tough decision. We knew she was going to be cooped up with other kiddos that were challenging and would potentially trigger her even worse. Those suspicions were in fact true. The saving grace to this part of the mix was our daughter was smart enough to know where she fit in the pecking order of the constant testing from the other children in her unit. But the fact is that once the team at Cedar Crest was able to bring her around, both psychologically and psychiatrically, the more challenging environment actually made her stronger in the end. All of the staff and professionals we came in contact with, from Dr Greg and down, were compassionate and genuinely cared at a deep level for our daughter (and at times when she tested them to the limit & beyond). I could not phantom having to deal with dozens of challenged children on a daily basis. There\'s a special place in heaven for those who do. I can recommend Cedar Crest highly! I\'m 41yrs. old and my PC took me off Rittlan which i\'ve been taking for 35yrs. being I never grew out of ADHD, and it wasn\'t his call to do that (Scott and White) With that said ivI\' had to basically seek out a psychiatrist to explain what happened to get back on it. Extremely difficult to get because my age and the nation has a problem with narcotics, which isn\'t my problem. It\'s taken about a year going in and out of facilities from Austin to Belton but I finally found a Dr that actually doesn\'t in my eyes care about what the nation\'s problem is he cares and is very savy. Dr. Pearson is the best knowledgeable Dr around as far as my situation is consern. You shouldn\'t come here for a resort vacation nor a fun time or hook up. If so go to Rock Springs if that\'s what you want. Staff I had no problems with, they\'re under staffed for sure and are very well in dealing with it under paid,ov ov worked. Food and those that serve are very pleasant. The medical staff is great. I had a venous ulcer had they helped me with that situation. So come here for treatment not a temporary break from your problems because if you do in 5days or however long you stay, when you get out your problems WILL be waiting for you. THIS IS NOT A RESORT. I personally again what to thank the staff and to the owner DO NOT EVER let Dr. Pearson go the man knows his stuff, a diamond in the rough y\'all found. Thank you for all your help.
