Do not go to Lakeside. I cannot repeat that enough. As other reviewers have noted, this place provides a \"free\" assessment. In reality what that means is you show up in the morning. The first warning sign should be that the place looks like a prison. The staff then takes you back through a series of locked doors, and puts you in a small, locked room for 3-6 hours, with no way of leaving and no one to help you. Meanwhile, you\'re also locked in there with a bunch of people who have also been held against their will, and who may violently act out. When we were there, we shared the room with a homicidal teenager, a suicidal teenager and a bunch of teenagers doped to their gills on powerful sedatives. If you have never been held in a place against your will, it will drive you crazy. I am not joking. If you are lucky, they will eventually have you do some assessment. But for that whole 3-6 hour period, there is no entertainment of any kind. They take away your cell phones, there is only a TV stuck on some Nickelodeon channel and hidden behind a protective lexan covering, there are no books, no nothing to do. I do not know how my daughter was not scarred for life as a result of that intake room. Just do not go here. I will also note that I hesitated to put up this review as I was hopeful that Lakeside just had a bad day, but I see from other recent reviews that this is just the way they are.

If I could leave negative stars, I would. Don\'t go here. Especially if you are trying to detox. They don\'t care about you. I woke up at 3am, having bad withdrawal symptoms, especially panic attacks, and the nurse checked my blood pressure, and even though my pulse was 134, she told me to go back to sleep. I told her I couldn\'t just go to sleep, and panic attacks were a symptom the nurses and drs there were supposed to manage, she told me if I didn\'t go back to sleep, she\'d have me sedated. I heard her mention to the other nurses giving me Xanax, if I didn\'t calm myself. Xanax is one drug you absolutely do not give a pregnant woman. Any real medical professional knows this. I will never go back here.

I wish I could put no star, because this place was absolutely horrible. I am totally shocked that this place is still open for business. I took someone there just to get an assessment, and after waiting with the person for over three hours no one came to offer the assessment nor give us info on when the assessment would take place. After seeing the low professionalism of staff and how other people were being treated ahead of us, we decided to leave this horrible place. At that time we were notified that we could not leave without an assessment. We were totally held against our will for another hour or so. Arguing with these people that they were violating our civil rights, they then would not let us leave until they performed a makeshift 30 question assessment, which meant nothing because the person we had taken there didn\'t want to share any thoughts on their situation due to fear of being held behind prison-like doors for the rest of the evening. If you need real emotional help, you should please seek out a different place that really care about people and will really help you. This was the worst experience. And as a Pastor in Memphis Tn, I felt really bad that I had recommended people to this place in the past, thinking they would help individuals. But I was totally disappointment. They held my wife and I, and the other individual behind prison-like doors, after repeated arguments to allow us to leave. I have since involved the Department of Health of what a horrible experience!!! Please read all reviews before going to this place!!! Don\'t make my mistake, as I didn\'t read reviews until after our altercation.

I was admitted here after some pretty intense self harm and nearly overdosing on my medicstion to kill myself due to bipolar. I explained to the psychiatrist that for about 6 months ago my insurance stopped covering my medication and I had been severely struggling since. On the morning of my third day I was given discharge papers without ever discussing it with the doctor, never given a dose of meds and never had my bipolar addressed, and only having gone to one group. The Dr then pulled me out of the day room to tell me I was being discharged because my insurance wasn\'t going to cover me. I called my mom sobbing and scared because nothing is fixed and I don\'t know how I can make it if I\'m just tossed out with no meds, no help, and no therapy done and the charge nurse screamed at me that they were going to turn the phones off again if I didn\'t stop crying. They then decided to hold me over night again. On my fourth day the doctor and therapist pulled me into a meeting and said I could go home the next day . I asked if I could please be put on the correct \"track\" and go to the day\'s bipolar groups and they wouldn\'t allow it. I said that there is no point to me being here then. The doctor then slammed the binder shut in my face and said \"discharge today then!\". It took them 4 hours to discharge me after that, and they called the wrong number for a person to release me to. I went home still suicidal, still wildly unstable bipolar, and feeling really really hopeless

The entire Lakeside Hospital should be shut down. All the medical staff are complete drug pushers to only make people dependent on them. No one listens to the real problems you are having,they draw their own conclusions and prescribe meds to make you a zombie. If you voluntarily check yourself in for stress related depression. This place will hold you hostage when you try to voluntarily check yourself out. They should be charge them with kidnapping. Some please looking into this Hospital and Shut it down. DONT GO THERE!!!!!!!

Dr. Sun probably saved my life by giving me medication that actually worked for me. I\'ve suffered from mental illness since the age of 4. The groups are great, very informative. Sadly with mental health it\'s partly realizing there really is something wrong with you, accepting it and making the steps to get help, change and take meds if needed. But some ppl don\'t make it that far. I wish everyone could make it as far as I have. God bless yall?...also there are no bugs or rats, they cleaned daily, served great big meals, took up outside, let us listen to music, watch TV, and smoke.

My husband, a retired disable veteran, went to this facility(CrestHaven Bldg) for help dealing with his PTSD and depression. The facility offers outpatient therapy programs and my husband was interested in this. He spent 3.5hrs doing an intake interview on Tuesday and was told he could start the program the next day. He shows up and spends 3 hours in therapy. A older male white nurse( he doesn\'t remember his name) pulled him out of group session and took him into another room. There the nurse had a urine cup and more forms to sign. My husband informed the nurse that he had heard about a more intensive program, and was interested in knowing more about it. My husband stated thats when the older white male nurse became aggressive and began talking very stern to him. He stated to my husband \" I have been here for 25 yrs and that therapist(April) don\'t know what she talking about. My husband called him on his aggressive tone of voice and he stated that he wasn\'t being aggressive, he was just trying to help him understand that he needed to make up his mind up about the program he wanted to be in. My husband stated he would have to think about it. The make nurse got up and stated to my husband to meet him at the nurses station. When my husband went up to the nurses station, he was met by a friendly black lady who stated to him that she had spoken to the administrator and that they no longer had a program for him. JUST LIKE THAT!!! She then told him he could leave. What kind of behavioral facility is this?? Is this how you treat all your patient or just retired disable veterans?? My husband came to Lakeside voluntarily for help and just because he questioned the programs in which he wanted to participate in, you labeled him \"a problem\" and basically kicked him out, based on the older male nurse assessment. He never saw a physician or was offered to speak to a physician. This facility needs to be evaluated for its ability to care for those dealing with mental issues and possibly gut out the administrative team and get people on board that really care about the patients and their outcomes.

Wonderful, caring and helpful staff at the Landing. Dr Boyd and his team that provides ECT treatment are superb! I am thankful for the care everyone provided while I was seeking treatment. The treatment has completely changed my life and I am truly grateful!!

It\'s been a few years since I\'ve been here, so maybe things have changed since then, but my experience wasn\'t as bad as some of these other reviews. As far as I remember the staff (except for one person who I\'ll talk about later) was really nice and not at all abusive. The intake process can be long, but I think that\'s most hospital/clinical settings. I read a review that said something about spiders which can be true. There were some big, brightly colored spiders on the lower floor which is probably caused by the area they\'re in and also being on a lower floor. The place is really clean though. The food was really good and healthy. The nurses really attempted to bond with us and were generally respectful. They treated us like normal people who just needed help and partially inspired me to go into mental health. The negative parts would be that we were not allowed to continue communication with other patients outside of the hospital without parental permission, which is understandable, but it can be difficult to get parental permission in the circumstances, and with us constantly being together we shouldn\'t be expected not to befriend each other. We were also not allowed to speak to the opposite sex at all, which kind of sucked because some of the guys seemed really nice, and I feel like that is assuming that all of the patients are straight, which me and several others were not. The worst thing though was probably the school teacher we had. She was extremely condescending towards teenagers. I remember her telling us something like the definition of an argument is something an adolescent tries to mask as a conversation and when a boy told her that adolescents do try to have sincere conversations and that is an inaccurate definition and she said he was arguing and proving her point (he was not arguing). She also yelled and got angry with another patient that was helping her pass out pencils.

The staff was borderline abusive, and none of my needs were met. I was forced to do a “LE” (learning experience) which is a fancy term for a writing assignment, due to the fact I responded to the auditory hallucinations I had at lunch. The head nurse (nurse Ann) would lie to us about how we can’t have food if we didn’t be quiet. I took that prod away from her by asking if she was threatening not to feed us. I was then punished later that night due to made up accusations by the staff. I would not send my worst enemy here. This place is equivalent to the sanitarium in “A cure for wellness”. It was horribly traumatic, and did more harm than good. The staff is highly manipulative, and after hearing about my experience and reading around the internet, my parents regret ever sending me here. The nurses are dumb as a sack of rocks. The fence looks like something you’d see in a concentration camp. Every aspect of this INSTITUTION was demoralizing and meant to break you down to an unhealthy level. PARENTS, IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEWHERE TO HELP YOUR KIDS, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE

Hello. Google better show this review because it’s the hard, cold truth about this horrid place. I am 15 years old and it’s been several months since I got out of the facility. I was there for a week and a half. I have to say, I was crazier after I got out than when I was admitted into it. I waited 17 hours ALONE in the waiting room (overnight.) there were no workers supervising the people waiting in the waiting room (who could have had serious mental issues). There was even a young boy about 5 years old talking to himself that was left completely unsupervised overnight, no blanket or pillow. I let him sleep on my lap. I heard, on MULTIPLE occasions, workers yelling at the small children (ages 4-12) and calling little boys the N WORD and other harsh, awful, cuss words. When I was finally admitted, I cried all night, and was told to “shut my ***” up by one of the nurses. I was yelled at and overheard the other nurses calling me names. Me, a person with bipolar disorder, chronic depression, and anxiety disorder. There is absolutely no cleanliness to this place. The windows have dirtiness all over them and nasty fingerprints. My wall had what looked like BLOODY HAND PRINTS on it. At night time there are absolutely no therapists on duty. No one is there to talk to the young patients if they have a breakdown. We were left alone with the unprofessional nurses. They should have been nicer to us and stopped cussing at us, especially considering we were patients with mental and emotional trauma. The nurses acted very unprofessional. If a girl happened to talk to a boy, even one simple word like “hello”, they were put on lockdown for 24 hours. On lockdown they have to do write offs (making their hand cramp unbareably) and were not allowed to go to meals, or outside, or do anything but sit in a chair for 24 hours. In conclusion, this place is ABUSIVE and needs to be shut down by the police immediately!!! They are doing illegal things in this place. Emotionally and physically abusing the small and vulnerable, already traumatized, kids.

My son is there and they trying to give him medicine that is not for him at all l told them him is not mentally ill as to what they saying he is my son name is Corleon Newsom if he get any l mean any of lakeside medicine l will lawful pursue a lawsuit against lakeside for false diagnosis, mental damages to my son the reason l will pursue this lawsuit against lakeside is because my brother Dudley Hat Ivory was there for 2years and he never was in his right mind again now he has been deceased for 4years now ??? and lakeside mess my brother up badly i will not let this place continue diagnosing patients with a mental ill that is not the case. I will not let lakeside causes my son to be in a mental state of mind because of their wrong diagnosing and medication to my son. The one time my son gets out that place I will be taking him to get tested for any medicine that is in his system without permission to do so. If there\'s any l mean any medicine in my son system from lakeside l will begin my lawsuit against lakeside.

I went a long time ago when I was 17 for suicidal thoughts & self harm, 2 weeks in patient 2 weeks out patient group therapy. In patient was occasionally decent but Usually Awful. One \'doctor\' in particular accused one of the other kids there of being the reason his family was broken, & particularly why his mom was unwell. It was one of the first times in my Life I aggressively spoke back at someone, because his behavior was disgusting. You have kids - KIDS - coming in for substance abuse problems, self harm, suicide, trauma or PTSD, & you\'re gonna tell them its their own fault. Sickening. I pray he no longer works there. Alot of kids were on so many medications they were sincerely like zombies. They never spoke, their eyes were glazed over, & they NEVER came in that way. Only after a few days of 8 different pills every 12 hours. I can only remember One nurse who was particularly Wonderful, & the only employee I thought actually cared for our safety & recovery. I wish I could remember her name just to thank her. Out patient wasn\'t nearly as bad, but felt more like some sort of casual youth group or place for teens to hang out after school more than it did therapy. I don\'t remember anything actually helpful we did there. & any other patient I happened to keep in touch with afterwards did not improve at all, & if they did it was due to their own life changes & not any \'treatment\' we received. I don\'t know what the treatment is like for adults, but I will say this: if you\'re a parent sincerely looking for help for your child, look elsewhere. The Lakeside staff will do nothing more than pump your child full of drugs to numb them out or shut them up, guilt trip & gaslight them for situations outside of their control, or just drive them further down a path of being mentally unwell.

Gross, evil, and godawful. This place is an asylum. I was sent here by my therapist due to \"anger issues\" and \"suicidal thoughts\". I spent 3 hours in a waiting room before they took me back. After going into a white room, they told me to take off my clothes so they could \"check for weapons\". I do not know if that is standard procedure but it was traumatic and emasculating either way. After that I was thrown in the back of a Ford Econoline van and brought to the mental ward. It was gross and dilapidated. I was finally brought to my bedroom and had a gorgeous sodium vapor lamp lit view of the pond, all behind a shredded mesh window cover. The whole building I was in had swastikas and racist notes scribbled everywhere. I never got a full night\'s sleep because there was always either somebody trying to escape or a staff member shouting at a patient. They do not allow pens and they do not have pencils with erasers on them, something that I was told to be for \"security\". There were spiders all over the place. There was a constant buzz from the fluorescent lighting. I was stuck there for a solid week before actually seeing a counselor. To sum it up, you are a mental prisoner once you arrive here. The building is gross and run down. The staff are not here to treat you like a human. I despised my family for almost 2 years after I got out of here. Nobody should have to go through this. The time I spent here was more damaging than anything else I have had to go through. This is a modern day asylum with the façade of something like Passages Malibu. DO NOT ADMIT YOURSELF HERE!!!!!!!!!!!

Awful awful. Do not come here! They only prescribe trazadone, and serequel and hildol. They Will pump this stuff in you wether you need or not to see if you do. Some,of these drugs leave permanent damage to the brain. Please choose a facility out west if you have the money. Very poor behind times care. Veey out dated and many unqualified people making serious decisions for you. They have some better places available but you are limited here in TN. This is one of the worst but not as bad as MMHI. Goes like this Best ... Delta medical. hit or mis though Private care Saint francis Worst.... MMHI Lakeside, aka whatever they call it now Delta has got allot worse and may have closed. They are in,the best,list though because they we\'re able to,help. Just whatever you do do not use doctor vert!!! Doctor vert services MMHI and the jail and has many many many patiebts. He is quick to diagnose you and put you on bad meds!!!!!!!!!! If you go to any of these facilities do not use doctor vert and do not do shock therapy. Sometimes strong meds are needed but if they are not and you take these meds witch they dual out pretty quickly you will be damaged for life. If you have mental,illnes please take it from someone who has been though all of it and please always be your own advocate dont just pop these pills. Diet, exercise, not overe dulging and having a hobby will help all of you greatly in the meab time until we are blessed with better healthcare laws and better facilities ubtil then be your own advocate .

I was sent there for sucidal thoughts and depression and anxiety, but this place they sent me to might have been the worst place I’ve ever been. I was told I would be there for 3 days I was there for 15 days the staff there is absolutely disrespectful and very rude. They make you feel like you are for tea in a mental Ausulym. When I was there a boy was there who had cizsears everyday and they would push him around yank him off the ground yell at him knowin he can’t move when all that is happening. Getting mad at him for having this problem. The food there is HORRIBLE it was stale and nasty to eat. I wouldn’t eat it because when I got put in there I weighed 140 pounds I left weighing 129 they tried to make me stay longer by saying I was starving myself the food there was fake wasn’t even real food not real eggs the biscuits were not biscuits the meats were horrible. Your sent there to get help to be treated like your nothing. Half the people there are there for suscide attempts and when we go we expect helpful service they yell at you they’ll keep you longer if you don’t talk to them cause it’s different people who wanna talk to you and who wants to constantly relive what they went through because they wanna pretend to care. There are bars on the windows they shine this big flashlight in your face every 15 min then get mad when your not asleep. I was there for OD when I was sent home I was 7 different pills but they want you to get better right?

This is the worst place I’ve ever experienced they should be compared to waverly sanatorium. I took my 9 year old son there voluntarily on May 2nd he was there until May 15th bc of the doc and therapists there involuntarily commiting him. It only took 2 days for them to do that and call Cps on me bc I wouldn’t put him on meds and they would not let him out. He was not taken care if he hardly showered or got his cloths washed he was beaten up the staff talked ugly about me bc I would not stop calling and trying to get him out or transfer him. He was put on meds May 9th bc the doc told him and me that that was the only way they would release him and they upped his dosage without my consent or asking in 2 days of starting the meds. He was left to himself in there they ran tests on him with out telling me and the therapist Stewart cook didn’t call me for days or communicate after many messages I left. Linsey Hightower was also not helpful with any concerns I had or what was going on. The staff was rude and unhelpful. These people and this place was a nightmare I thought they would help my son but they made him so much worse. He is 10 now and still has nightmares and is in therapy and he’s scarred from everything they did. This place should be shut down and the docs medical licenses revoced! I will never set foot in his place again and I hope and pray people will read this and not take there children there or let your insurance pay them. It’s all about the insurance and the meds. I have recordings proving that. And I plan to pursue this further.

Sorry I have to leave one star, the staff was ok, but the billing/insurance stuff is confusing and I feel like I\'ve been conned. Now I\'m getting a separate Doctor bill for $500. What?? I paid my deductible and I\'ve overpaid the facility 700$. And I\'m getting no help from anyone.

I don\'t even know where to begin to describe how terrible my experience was at Lakeside\'s West Wing. The staff was constantly verbally abusive (including the techs, therapists, nurses and daytime charge nurse Danielle). The verbal abuse would get even worse when you tried to advocate for yourself (such as when I asked for my antidepressant on my day of admission because I hadn\'t been given it yet and was going through painful withdrawal symptoms). The techs were late to intervene when a verbal altercation during the night time med line almost turned into a fist fight, and a young woman was assaulted by an older patient during my stay. Probably my *favorite* inappropriate moment was when we were going to breakfast one day and a hospital administrator in a suit was in the stairwell. He yelled at us, \"Happiness is a choice.\" Seriously? Does this mental health \"professional\" not realize that brain chemistry is NOT a choice? I filed complaints both with the patient advocate and the state regarding my experience. Hopefully something will come of those complaints, because Lakeside needs to do some serious retraining of its staff in order to be an appropriate place to provide proper mental health services.

This facility should be shut down! They don\'t help people at all! My loved one was taken here by the police because he told his brother God told him to beat him up & starting hitting & choking him. He had been hearing voices & paranoid that people were after him. Lakeside wanted to send him home less than 24 hrs later. When we explained that he couldn\'t come here until he was stable ( since God told him to beat up his brother) they totally ignore what we said & stated they would just call a car to bring him to our house. So they were going to bring him here whether we wanted them to or not. I begged & threatened that they keep him & they finally did. They kept him for 2 weeks put him on a truck load of meds then called me 2 hrs before they were sending him home. I went to get him and they shoved him out the door with NOT one person telling or giving instructions on how to help him or what to do to help us prepare. So two weeks after discharge he had an episode (that\'s all I know to call it without any education from lakeside). He went ballistic on me and his brother & left the house and was jumping in front of cars. So the cops pick him up and take him to lakeside because he\'s unstable & suicidal. What does lakeside do, they send him home less than 24 hrs later. No phone call no communication.This place should be shut down.

So I had to help a family member that was sent here after a hospital stay. They needed mental health help and drug addiction help. They only want to help with mental. Wow.... this person has been off their mental medication for months but they want to say that he’s corrective back on track in a couple of day. How is this possible? The nurse some are very rude. I just feel like you all are a joke. You need to learn family cares but we need your help to help our troubled family or friends. It should be more than just a job.

I was voluntarily admitted to lakeside. I had been struggling with severe depression, anxiety, manic/depressive behavior, and suicidal ideation, and asked my parents to admit me because I truly needed help. I was approved... after being in a waiting room from 10am to 8pm. the treatment here is awful... I saw my therapist two times in the whole two weeks I was there. when I told her about the issues I had with my parents, she said she understood, and that everything I told her was confidential. then , when I met with my parents for family therapy, I found out that not only had she told them everything I said, she took their side, and then came at me like I was the one in the wrong. my psychiatrist (Dr. Brunt) prescribed me medicine the second day, after hardly listening to what I was saying, and cutting me off as I tried to explain my problems. I told him that I had issues with mood swings and manic/depressive behavior, and he told me that \"oh, well, maybe that\'s it. but I think you\'re just really depressed and angry.\" after I did psychological testing, my results came back that I did struggle with the same issues I had told Dr. brunt that I had. He said, \"it appears you were right.\" but, didn\'t change my medication. I was woken up at midnight the night I was admitted (after, like I said, being in a waiting room for 10 hours). I was dead asleep. they made me sign this paper work (in the dark!). I had no clue what it was, and since they woke me up out of a dead sleep to sign it, I thought honestly it was either a dream, or something not important. I found out later that it was a waiver to sign my right to leave away, and place all my decisions on the psychiatrist. Dr brunt seemed like he understood that I was wanting to get better, I wasn\'t there against my will. but when I found out that I had signed that paper, and what it said, I got a little pissed. he then told me that I \"obviously didn\'t want to be here,\" and that that was what my problem was. he talked to me like I was an idiot. didn\'t show any desire to help me at all. I was supposed to leave within a week, but since I got upset about having no say in when I got to leave, he said that that meant I wasn\'t ready to leave and made me stay another week. the community counselors talked to us equally as rude. like we were nusiances. if you were in the adolscent unit like I was, you were made to write write offs for things like talking in line. it was ridiculous, like.. we were treated like bad little kids. like we were bad for being there. when we slept, they shined flashlights at us, and if we talked to our roommates at night, we were liable to have to do write ups or eat our breakfast in our bedroom alone. this experience was really traumatic for me. the only good thing that came out of it was trauma healing therapy. the rest of it made me feel dumb, because I was talked to like I was exaggerating my problems. staff really treated us like a job they didn\'t want to do. don\'t go here.

I was treated really poorly. They keep kids longer than needed, and do their best to suck money out of the parent\'s pockets. The teacher v and education system that have set up is simply inexcusable. I wish I had never gone, because I have a bit more trauma from that place added up in my life.

Nope. You\'ll be even more suicidal or ready to return to your addiction if you come here. These people are idiots and incompetent as all get out. I have been here once as an inpatient in 2016 and again as outpatient this year. (2018) As for the 2016 visit, i attempted suicide and was sent here. For as much as i can remember i didn\'t get one lick of the help i needed. All they talked about was nutrition which, don\'t get me wrong, is important, but hello? Need help for suicidal tendencies and alcoholism too. What the heck? It was a 3 day stay for me. Doctor wanted to keep me longer, but i lied my way out of there. I just couldn\'t take it. Why in the world is smoking allowed there?? Now, as for this visit as outpatient, even worse. I get there for my evaluation and it takes forever to be seen. No surprise. But i ask the lady at the desk to tell my family in the waiting room who are RIGHT in front of her, if she can tell them to just go on home and i will call them when i am done since i am unsure how long it will take, and she with a sense of annoyance in her voice says, \"Yeah, i will relay that message to them.\" Come to find out, she never did. Like, how god dang hard is it to just say, \"Excuse me you all, your daughter says to just go on home and she will call you when she\'s done.\" ????? How flipping hard is that? You don\'t even have to get off your lazy behind. So now, i show up for the first meeting and it goes ok. I barely get to talk, but it\'s ok. Second time, they test to make sure you aren\'t \"using\" I am not sure if all my substance is out of my system and the woman tells me there is no consequence if something is found. Come to find out, she lied to me. I get suspended. Whatever. Stay away from this h*ll hole.

I cannot believe how incompetent the doctors and staff are there!!!!! I am going to find out which department in the state I can send a formal complaint. They advertise their ETC program, put you through hours of assessment and initial appointment only to tell yo that you cannot drive to the treatments or anytime during the course of the treatments!!!! Pretty god damn big item to not have told someone at the beginning. I wish I could sue you people for my wasted time. You will be getting some pretty bad reviews via social media. The intake process took 5 hours. They sit you in a tiny room and just leave you there. No one tells you anything about what\'s going on. Once I was actually admitted, my experience wasn\'t all that bad, just ineffective. No one on one therapy, just al ot of group therapy that was not specific to my situation and that I could not relate to. The psychiatrist Dr. White, was arrogant and acted like he couldn\'t be bothered.I saw him twice for about 5 minutes The entire 5 days I was there. The financial department called me THE DAY AFTER I WAS DISCHARGED trying to collect payment for what my insurance didn\'t cover which I thought was absolutely absurd and insensitive. They care more about getting their money than the outcome of treatment of their patients.

And for the last 5 days I\'ve been trying to get my medical records. They will not even return a ph. call. But what should i expect from this this place. Its just so typical of them. This is a great place of you have problems or if you are mentally unstable . I have never felt more safe in my life.The children area workers were so sweet and were right there when you needed them . The teacher was very sweet as well . Her name is Miss Julia she only was mean when you did not respect her , which I understand . I would highly recommend it for any child . Also , Food was amazing! Also Rec therapy which was like art , was great . If I could go back and see everyone I would be so happy ! Also I met my best friend there !

I was inpatient here over 8 times as a minor due to my own guardians incompetence and lack of understanding. I was treated as if I were their own family there, and later became good friends with one of the older nurses as she lives next door to my fiance. The groups are open and everyone gets time to speak and process their feelings with feedback from the whole group and staff, and the food was actually really good! I have spent Christmas, Thanksgiving, and birthdays inpatient at lakeside and they made the patients their first priority the whole time. A big thank you to all the staff.

This place is a joke. They want parents to be active in the treatment process, but will not notify the parents about treatment or anything going on. Good luck trying to get anyone on the phone also. Leave a message, no call backs. Request to speak with the physician, no way what so ever. Treatment plans are not individualized and all the staff only care about their paychecks. Dr. Mirza, Dr. Goldstein, both of them are just as worthless as everyone else. Dr. Mirza makes up stories, won\'t treat the patients for medical conditions, nor will he refer you to anyone. Dr. Goldstein wants to do a bunch of paperwork and testing, yet none of the results are ever discussed with anyone. HIPAA violations were made and they don\'t care. I will not send or refer anyone here, and I will be making as many complaints as possible to whomever I need to in order to get my point across.

Wow. What an experience. To give it one star is generous since there is no option for zero stars. We went to Lakeside for a family member seeking \"inpatient\" treatment. When we arrived at 9 PM we specifically mentioned inpatient. We waited until after 12 AM to finally see an assessor. The assessor proceeded to ask questions which we had already answered on the forms. A major red flag for us occurred when the assessor asked about any other issues and we mentioned Aspergers. The assessor started that they had never heard of this before and asked us to spell it (please remember that we are in a behavioral health facility). After another hour we were then told that there was no space available. Please remember that upon arrival we stated this was for inpatient. We would have loved to have been told at the beginning that there was no space. Let me not forget to mention that the rooms we were placed in were dirty and the whole environment was in a decor that is counterproductive to someone seeking treatment. After hours of waiting and going back and forth with the staff we finally stated that we wanted to leave. The whole experience was in fact making our family\'s anxiety worse. We felt as if we were trapped and held hostage. They recommended going to Parkwood (their sister facility) which actually has worse reviews. We said no thank you as the whole experience was a nightmare (definitely not good for someone seeking mental health help). We were released at 2:30 AM after 5 1/2 hours of misery.

Lakeside was a great hospital back in the late 80\'s and early 90\'s. They had a lot more staff to handle the patients. The cafeteria had excellent food, the staff was very kind because they were not stretched so thin! What people don\'t understand is the staff get\'s very frustrated because they are worn out. Lakeside was bought out by a different corporation called Universal Health care and the CEO is JOY GOLDEN! Lousy, money hungry corporation! I don\'t blame the employees at all! They are overworked and under payed! The inside of this hospital has never been remodeled since it opened in the seventies! Of course the outside appearance, the fountain and lake have been kept up nicely. There are bugs and rats in that place. Also patients that are thieves that steal from other patients that go unpunished for example there was one older lady that was being fleeced out of her money by another patient that was constantly stealing from other patients.! She went unpunished! So Lakeside basically does nothing by setting examples and punishing these people so the thieving continues with different patient\'s by other patient\'s. I am trying to get a online petition started to force the corporation to make some serious changes! For now there is nothing good to say about this place! Do not take your love ones there!!

I went there for depression and anxiety. I still struggle with it even after going there. I was on meds that worked well to help but they wouldn’t give me my meds until the 3rd day so by then I had to start over the meds in my system making everything worse, especially since I was on birth control and they never gave me it on time so it messed me up more. I got more help from the patients than the actual therapists. My doctor never saw me longer than a minute and never asked any questions besides how am I. The therapist that I was assigned didn’t see me and was disrespectful whenever I tried to communicate with him. The security lost my belongings and has not even tried to contact me or any family members to say they found them or are going to replace them. I pretty much had to fake being better to be able to get treated with decency and to be told I could leave because being there honestly made things worse than better. I would honestly say that the only time that I felt I had help was when I had to sit 6 hours in the assessment room. Speaking of assessment room you check in and won’t be seen until maybe 6 hours later. Me and my step room talked longer in there than anyone actually in the facility to help me. The food was terrible and they didn’t listen to any dietary needs or restrictions. I ate only apples and croutons 7 days. Which really didn’t help my already dropping weight due to my depression. So they don’t help you with anything pretty. And sadly I was told I had the nicer of the units. Either way I don’t recommend. Lower than a one star would probably be more honest.

BEWARE: Nothing like getting the help you need from Lakeside Behavior Health Hospital in Memphis and then they send you to a Collections Agency, EVEN IF YOU ARE PAYING THEM ON A REGULAR BASIS! I guess THEY DON\'T CARE about you after you leave their facility. They just want you to relapse so you will come back again and rack up some more bills!!!!!! FYI: Other medical facilities like Methodist and Baptist don\'t send you to collections as long as you are making payments to them. Character limitations prevent me from detailing all the specifics behind this review but suffice it to say that our family experienced what we felt was egregious humiliating treatment during the assessment process at Lakeside. Approximately a week after his release from an out-of-state facility where he was treated for severe depression, our college aged son was effectively kidnapped and held against his (and our) will at Lakeside. As part of his out-patient treatment from the out-of-state facility, it was suggested it would help if he was around family in Memphis and it would be beneficial to find a Memphis psychotherapist to help facilitate his recovery. Our son flew back to Memphis (alone) and the very next week he made an appointment at Lakeside to try and obtain a referral for a local psychotherapist. Apparently, it is routine for Lakeside to do a patient assessment and our son was very honest in filling out the paper work to include providing specifics on the issues that had necessitated his voluntarily seeking treatment at the out-of- state facility. The wait to see the Assessor was unacceptably long; it took over four hours before our son actually spoke with the Assessor. The Assessor was rather robotic and cold. After she finished a phone call to an alleged doctor, the assessor advised the hospital would be involuntarily committing our son in accordance with Tennessee law as he had made reference to thoughts of harming himself at different times. My wife and son stressed how our son had surfaced all the issues he brought forward at the out-of-state hospital and that he had been released and allowed to fly home alone; they had come to Lakeside simply to obtain a referral for an individual therapist. A Supervisor (Ben) was called in who subjected my wife and son to cold, disrespectful and unkind comments that drove my son to tears. One example: my wife, who was on the verge of tears, at one point told “Ben” she wanted to go home. “Ben” condescendingly and coldly responded by saying she was absolutely free to go home, it was just that our son could not go with her. To add credence to the hospital decision to involuntarily commit our son, an individual who was misrepresented as an employee of the “State” and as a physician (who allegedly just happened to be in the area) was brought into the “mix.” This individual (“JT”), was blatantly adversarial, frequently interrupting our son. “JT” implied in a very accusatory tone that my wife and son had rehearsed what they would say next (after being advised of the involuntary commitment), and in a disrespectful way said he wanted to hear the “truth” from our son. He was extremely rude, abrasive and addressed my wife and son in a dictatorial manner. At one point, when my wife was speaking of her and our son’s lovingly relationship, “JT” brought up our son’s suicide attempt in middle school, saying in a sarcastically manner, “I don’t mean to be rude, but when he tried to kill himself in the 8th grade, where was the love then?” Later in the conversation, he completely ignored a statement my wife was making and simply told her to “read this” as he rudely pushed the involuntary commitment document toward her. The day after our son was involuntarily committed, I received a call from “billing” advising I needed to pay five days in advance of the 20% co-pay charge for my son’s stay. I refused. The above are only a few examples of what transpired during the Assessment process. I made a complaint with a Patients Advocate who elevated the issue to the CEO who met with us. The CEO apologized for the way we were treated and the misrepresentation as to “JT’s” status (he is a clinician with a certificate from the state as to training on the involuntary commitment process). We received a follow-up letter advising the action the Administration Team had taken to ensure everyone involved was aware of our dissatisfaction and what the Administrative team expected from Lakeside employees.

The first two days were absolutely the worst! They didn\'t give me my medication until the 3rd day. I don\'t use any illegal drugs, may have a glass of wine 3 to 4 times a year. But they still were trying to shove detox meds in my mouth. I was there for social anxiety disorder and depression. Caused by my father years ago, (physical, sexual, and emotional abuse). I had no ideal, that they put you in a room with 2 other people with different problems (bi-polar, drug or alcohol addiction schizophrenia, too many to list!!), without a radio, TV, in your room, they had a book shelf there that could hold hundreds of books, I have to say there were maybe 50 books to choose from, (romance novels, horror story books), Nothing spiritual at all. Of the 10 day stay there, I would say I gained a little help, adding up to maybe 9 hours of therapy the entire 10 days. My room was dirty, the floor had some type of stain that was never cleaned up, once I had urine on the floor of my room, due to my room mate not able to make it to bathroom, and it sit there for several hours. My roommate that was in the center bed of our room, found a urine test tucked under her mattress. When she turned it in, some of the staff just laughed about it but did take it. I seriously believe that a few of the patients were on drugs and homeless, and at least there they could sleep, eat, have some type of compassion from others there, with the same condition. I would also say that maybe 1/3 of the people who worked there, actually cared for the patients, but all others were there for a paycheck!!!, those ones, cussed, smoked the patients cigarettes, waited until a disagreement between 2, 3, 4 or even more, turned into a very heated argument. The food there was so so, not great, but also not horrible. Some of the staff answering the phone calls from family or friends of patients there, lied a few times to my daughters, about my condition and/or my medication. Of the staff who worked there, Katherine, Katie, Kelly and Erin were the only ones I could approach without arrogance and/or anger for asking of anything. One thing that helps me at home is to be outside, I wasn\'t even able to look outdoors in my room because the windows were frosted. Another thing that helps me is music. But no radios were allowed. And I certainly see why Cell phones are not allowed, cause you would be able to take pictures or video what\'s happening around you. IF YOU NEED HELP WITH ANXIETY OR DEPRESSION...... DO NOT GO TO LAKESIDE! Search the internet and check the rates and reviews. Again, Say No To Lakeside!!

You get next to none one on one with a therapist to talk personally about what brought you there. You\'re lucky to get 5 minutes with your Psychiatrist. The place is dirty, groups are boring, presentions are like lectures. The food is lousy, greasy. I lived on cereal. My son was admitted to Lakeside voluntarily, and had expressed hope of finally receiving help for the emotional turmoil he\'d been experiencing for several months. It was clear that he was ready to do the hard work required to address his troubles, including any prescribed medication therapy, daily meetings with the staff psychiatrist(s), one-on-one counseling, and group therapy. He understood that he would be inpatient, and that his contact with friends and family would be greatly limited. He expressed willingness to comply with all of these conditions and even seemed excited about finally getting help. Within 3 days of his admission, at a scheduled family visit, we could clearly see the \"treatment\" he\'d received in his dramatically short stay had drained him of the hope with which he\'d entered the facility. He was in far worse condition than when he\'d gone in, angry, sad, hopeless, and bitter at his sense of betrayal. Not a betrayal by us, his parents, but by Lakeside. His father, younger brother, and I were stunned and horribly concerned for our struggling elder son\'s wellbeing. When, as a result of our observations in that visit, we made the decision to have our son transferred to another behaviorial health facility immediately, I was categorically informed that any attempt on my part to remove him from Lakeside would result in his immediate involuntary commitment - even if transported by ambulance, which I had suggested in an attempt to show that my intent was to have him transferred, not to reject or otherwise discontinue treatment. Note that the threat of involuntary commitment would not be contingent upon his symptoms and/or behaviors, but upon my attempt to have him transferred to another inpatient mental health facility. This begs the questions: How could such an order be advisable for the good for my already tormented and now discouraged and emotionally bruised son? And furthermore... why? Once the proclamation was handed down, the staff refused to communicate with with me, though I spent upwards of four hours in the waiting area (immediately after meeting with our son on that third day of his stay) in further attempts to get my point across to the Lakeside psychiatrists. Neither psychiatrist spoke to us at any point during our son\'s stay at Lakeside. Not once. The evidently intractable threat of involuntary commitment was handed down to the hospital staff by Robert Hoehn, MD (Child & Adolescent Psychiatry)* who oversaw our son\'s case, and/or by that weekend\'s on-call psychiatrist, Paul D. Clein, MD. (Psychiatry, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry). I believe that Clein works exclusively at Lakeside. Hoehn has a private practice and serves as Medical Consultant at Daybreak Treatment Center, day program for children & adolescents in Germantown, TN. Our son was discharged from Lakeside first thing Monday morning, 5 days after admission, though he\'d had no meeting with any psychiatrist between the family visit and that morning. Why he was forced to remain inpatient, with no groups, counseling, or exams since our shocking Saturday visit is still a mystery, though I have suspicions regarding Hoehn\'s and Clein\'s behaviors - suspicions regarding the determination to predominate their patients\' loved ones when their prescribed treatment plans were brought into question or challenged, and of course the determination to collect insurance payments for those extra days. Based on my family\'s experience and on my own personal interactions with its sullen, lazy, unprofessional, and badly trained staff, I must tell you that I do not possess the vocabulary required to express the great lengths to which I would go in order to protect my children from Lakeside Behavioral Health Center. *This is our second negative experience with Hoehn, who once suggested - in my son\'s presence - that the vocal tics he was experiencing might well be a deliberate attempt to gain attention. The vocal tics were, within a few weeks of that offering, officially diagnosed as one of the presenting symptoms of full blown Tourette Syndrome

Horrible experience there. I was there for 12 days and it was HELL. Some of the staff didn’t care when I had panic attacks, if any of us did anything remotely wrong we had to do write offs. One girl (I witnessed the attempted suicide aftermath) was forced to do write offs the day after she slit her throat. One time when we were in the community room and the other teens were being loud, the weekend nurse or whatever he was (I think that’s what it was, forgive me, this was in 2014) forced us to either go to our rooms and miss dinner or stay in that room and listen to “The Song That Never Ends” for 5 or 10 minutes just to eat dinner. If I would have known those two things were forms of abuse I would have never gave them a semi decent review at the end (I only did that because in my mind they were going to keep me there for longer. I was scared. If I could redo that survey, they would have gotten a terrible review from me.) They never seemed to care about our problems, only my given therapist and doctor did. Awful awful place in my opinion.

Terrible nurses curse and yell bruised my arm when taking blood left me in a consultation room for 5 hours by myself gave me cold rubbery food and were very rude never send a child to this place ever. Not enough staff. Poor communication between parents and staff. They release the child with almost NO information or communication about improvements or continuing problems, with just possible followup visits that don\'t always even pan out. Personally, I think it\'s warehousing kids to make money. My kid came out angrier and more suicidal than she was when she went in, and no one gave me any progress info. Therapist was ok, but really her input evidently doesn\'t make any impact on the treatment plan. I\'ll never take a child there again. My guess is that some of these good reviews here are paid for.

If you or a loved one is suffering from any mental health crises I urge you to stay away from this place. It\'s basically jail for the mentally ill, they\'ll do anything to keep patients with good insurance around to keep collecting the pay but the second your insurance or cashflow runs out \"what do ya know? You\'re cured!\" The people that operate this facility are at worst criminals at best money grubbing sociopaths. Dealing with their backwards system has been one of the most stressful situations of my life.

She has Tourettes and some of the staff addressed her as the girl with Tourettes instead of my her name. She said she felt like she was in jail instead of a health facility. She had a toothache and she ask for meds, one of the staff members told her "I'm not giving you shit". This place needs to be investigated and turned over to new management or shut down. THIS IS AWFUL!

Lakeside should be sued. You are not BBB accredited either. You are willing to treat someone who’s TennCare benefits are no longer active due to the person having moved to an entirely different state. You stated that her TennCare benefits are still active for TN and y’all can use that. When it’s denied later then that is going to be a financial responsibility on the family. Just about 95% of the complaints on your site are negative. And your responses to the complaints are computer generated because they are the same. We need to get together as a community to shut y’all down. Your company is money hungry and not people caring. This is gonna be sent to Facebook and the news stations. More people need to be aware of the crookedness.
