I had a wonderful experience. I’m actually from the upstate but 3 rivers was the only facility with beds open at the time that would take a pregnant person. It was a long way from home but it was totally worth the 3 hour transport from the ER. The staff was wonderful, everyone really cared about and were aware of my condition even though I wasn’t showing. They explained every part of treatment as well as all the medicine they were giving me. My room was super clean, comfortable. Wish they updated the bathrooms but they were clean. All the social workers were helpful and the food was always really bomb at every point in the day. Appreciated the endless decaf and support. I don’t feel like I had the best grasp after leaving, but it was a great safety net in the moment and helped me be able to finish the semester of school I was in . I met some wonderful people there and if I ever have a crisis again I hope they’ll have a bed for me cause I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. The quality of care was so much better than any I would’ve received locally!

Most of the staff is very friendly, I wasn't a patient there but I visited someone several times who was a patient there. He said the place was ok, there are a lot worse out there, I believe that 100%. Visiting hours suck, only 3 days which are Thursday, Saturday, Sunday from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. Hard to call there and talk to a patient, they have very strict hours for incoming calls, best way to talk to patient is to wait on them to call you.

I've been to one other psych hospital and I've got to say that Three Rivers is the worst. Staff is extremely rude and would treat us like prisoners and laugh at our pain. The nurses are very condescending and if you ask for help, they usually tell you to go sit down somewhere because their "busy". Some of their "rules" I feel are complete BS. For example, if you were prescribed painkillers from your regular doctor before entering Three Rivers, the nurses won't administer it to you while you're there. If you're feeling extremely sick, you can't go back to your room to lie down since they lock all the doors; don't even bother asking nurse to open it for you. You're forced to participate in all group activities no matter how awful you feel. I had to beg my doctor to listen to me in concerns with changing my meds. Also if you show the least bit of frustration or anger towards staff, they put it in your records. For example, I've had a migraine while in Three Rivers for a week. Staff kept offering me things that don't work, so when I said I didn't want to take it, they put that I reject help and that I show no sign to wanting help. They wanted to give me TYLENOL for a MIGRAINE. Group therapy is decent. Overall, the staff is what made my experience terrible.

I was placed in three rivers for 8 days. I saw the horrible treatment of my peers and the bs rules. You were not allowed to stay in contact outside of the "treatment" center. The nurses were rude and had favorites and targets. You weren't allowed to hug someone or you would get a 10 foot. And some days I wake up from nightmares about this place. I went in there with 20-50 cuts and left with 100-120 overall it was a nightmare. I wish that no one goes in here and have to pretend to be okay poorly and get believed but complain about physical pain and get ignored

A family member of mine was admitted to this hospital on involuntary commitment. After reading all of the awful reviews I was very nervous. This facility was actually very helpful. My family has experience with many facilities across South Carolina and none of them have been as helpful as Three Rivers Behavioral. They were very kind, allowed a few extra minutes during visiting hours, and even allowed a visit outside of visiting hours after driving three hours to drop off clothes. My family member was able to call me as much as she wanted, just making sure to be considerate of others waiting for the phone. The facility appeared clean and well kept. The MHT’s cared about the patients and the groups were helpful, according to my family member. On the down sides, there was a lot of miscommunication between doctors and social workers. There is not much consistent staff and they have fill in doctors and social workers who don’t have the same information as the permanent doctors and social workers. It was hard to get any information at all, and when we did get the information, most of the time it wasn’t accurate. They did not involve the family in the process at all, which I think would have been helpful for all of us. My family member said the food was not great, but they were allowed the opportunity to buy snacks, each day which helped. Overall this facility helped my family member a lot. She felt like she got a lot out of the program, but she was also very willing to participate and tried to keep a positive attitude. She was there for one week, and a lot of progress was made.This facility can help you if you are willing and ready to receive help and keep an open mind.

I gave this place 4 stars because i beleive it has helped me. At 1st I was down about going but I think it was good for me. Whether you are in patient or out patient you get skills to help you in life. The staff Ive met were nice I had no issues with anyone. I made friends with other people there. I would say I dont regret going overall its an experience I am thankful for.

This place didn't start my adolescent on meds until right before they left, even though they had discussed medication with me within 24hrs of being admitted. They lost luggage and some clothes when being discharged stating they don't know what happened to it e en though it was tagged with a name on it. Also didn't discharge with all meds they stated they wanted her on. Adolescent stated that staff was rude and didn't really help with them, kept them in day room all day.didnt really help.

I was recently hospitalized at this center by psychiatrist orders. After getting out a week later, I see how poorly managed it was and how there were many health concerns for staff and patients. Staff did not receive proper information about most rules, my first night I stated that I needed a place to lay my head and food in my stomach. With HIPPA, certain key words stood out and they ignored that. Asked me questions for 4 hours while my stomach ate itself inside out due to lack of nutrition after already being registered with the LRADAC facility as having a “disability”: OCD/Bipolar. Most patients in the facilty were diagnosed with the same, as a response to certain trauma life events. People who were referred to as “addicts” or “fiends” in the real world went here and realized those were only words. The patients were lovely and we all banded together to get thru. Many complained about the food but I loved it. The staff was nice mostly, if you speak to them. One staff member did rub me the wrong way. When she stated her opinions on my treatment plan and it was not asked for. She stated that she is simply assertive but yelled at me when in the lunch room in front of everyone while I was waiting in line to throw away my tray after 10-15 ish minutes of eating due to poor communication. Then after pulled me aside and stated that she was not trying to hurt my feelings (POWERTRIP.) staff are not given grace or notice about patients being admitted over the weekend, due to there being 3 separate buildings there are many issues that are not addressed except in the staff meetings regarding patients— this is sarcasm. I was not informed of my release date due to my age. 20 YO African American Female- matched with a Caucasian Older Male Doctor. He did not have the knowledge necessary to help my care plan, and this was not addressed until I saw his process of writing down notes and scratching over due to my fast paced nature of speaking. Chopped this up to: yup let’s up this girls dose. I went into the facility on 1mg of a medication that I was not seeking. Then leaving the facility I received a prescription for 2mg of the same medicine. After filling out “goal sheets” each day with my patient goals. Stating that I did not feel the need for the medicine and then they upped the dose until I agreed. Being out has made me realize the issues and I was aware of this after reading through the Big Book of rules. I was originally given this book after being exhausted, and hungry, and rules were never explained thoroughly. Patients did what they wanted based off the workers, and night shift workers did not have enough care to care. Overall. Staff was mostly nice if spoken to, but they are clearly not being taken care of as health care providers, but being asked to care for excess amounts of individuals in rooms too small to house them all. Due to sticking to HIPPA and feeling an obligation to keep open for those who need it. While this is appreciated, staff members need to be made aware of things they can benefit from working this job or the understaffing issue will always continue and continue. Until the good workers are burnt out and either quit or complain and get fired. Please improve your methods of caring for your staff. Then worry about patient care. In group we were yelled at, berated, and my roommate was dress coded. She was a grown woman. Simply because we were housed across from a teen boy, after I stated I had been assaulted by a man. They asked your triggers. Then completely ignored them. I stated men triggered me at first and then the day I get in. Men are in the place that are supposed to be a “SAFE HAVEN.” 1. School teacher diagnosed with BPD- in conversation I informed him of how I had a teacher that was arrested for having child pornography in his computer and that unsettled me for a while. He proceeded to tell me a new sexual joke every day he saw me. Until I had to politely request him to stop after he asked me every day why I would not talk to him. 2. A boy burnt his body on fire 5 years prior to his stay at the facility. He was simply seeking a place to sleep as well, and was sent here for his own good. Until he was yelled at for wanting to sleep because it did not line up with another patients treatment plan. I showed more discipline for the patients as a patient then the staff did, because they “don’t get paid enough to care”. Group rooms were filled up to the max after Friday night-Sunday night span due to influx of patients. No staff was informed of my stay until Monday morning, so we all were unaware of 1. How long we had to stay- 2. Simple rules. 3. Patient and Staff roles unless we read the 50 page big book given to you. This is all things that could have been prevented. But my family blindly sent me here by psychiatrist request, although I had not been given a psychiatrist until they sent me to a different facility to detox. This one was better in getting mental health issues sorted. But it can be done outside of here. Without your person being stripped away by people who do not know you.
