This is not a rehabilitation and mental health facility. You will not see a therapist or get any mental health counseling. The majority of people here are coming from jail and it is primarily being ran detox and jail reintegration facility. My mental health after treatment here was far worse than when I decided to come here. However, the counseling I received from many of the staff really does put focus in the 12 steps and I do believe they can help you maintain sobriety, if you want to, be careful though if you have a dual diagnosis as this is not a true dual diagnosis facility.

If you care about your loved one, I suggest you DO NOT recommend this facility for them! I've had 2 children in this facility. First time, the first one was kicked out for being depressed and going to the hospital so he didn't hurt himself. He went to another facility, and got top grade care. For some odd reason, when he found himself needing help again, he returned to this dump. His second night there, his money was stolen, and staff just ignored it. My second child that went to this facility, on his first night there had all of his belongings stolen. Cigarettes, cash card, everything. At least $200 worth of personal belongings that we bought him to take there with him. Again, staff did not a dang thing, and when he got upset, they discharged him from the program and told him he had 2 options. Find a ride, 2 1/2 hours home, or walk. An 18 year old child. Are you kidding me? This place is a joke. I wouldn't let them treat my dog, and trust me, I hate dogs!

Ive been to many rehabs. This place is by far the best. Staff who has been on the otherside and knows the struggle. They do not baby you. They hold you accountable. Im sorry to say but if your loved one cried abt rhis place its bc they dont want or aren't ready for clean living. Also I dont understand the reviews saying food was terrible. Come on. Better than any hospital or jail WE ADDICTS HAVE BEEN TOO. NOT TO MENTION WE WERENT EVEN EATING WHILE USING. I also read a review abt things being stolen...is it that surprising a campus full of addicts who are used to stealing anything from anyone to get by...WE ARE WARNED ABOUT THIS BY THE WAY. Its also possible your poor loved one is PLAYING YOU LIKE WE ADDICTS DO...CLAIMING TO HAVE ALL THIS STUFF STOLEN and wanting to come home bc of this. There is a very good chance your loved one SOLD their sh!+ for money so they can cop dope when they get home after crying wolf. Bottom line..Im now 3i yrs old. I went to Cove Forge from jail on 7/11/2017. I did 28 days inpatient. Then went into their partial program while waiting for a bed in a half way house. And then ended up in Coves halfway house in Johnston. I am still clean today. 19 months later. And I owe a big part of that to COVE FORGE. Of course a huge part of it was my choice to surrender to the process, put my faith in God and NA. IM SO GRATEFUL I DID AS IS MY FAMILY N FRIENDS. THANK YOU MAX, KATHY, AJ, BRANDON, AND MY GOODNESS SO MANY MORE I CANT REMEMBER NAMES. OH YEAH TRENT. And many more. Listen this place gave us great counselors. Food. Music. Best thing that ever happened to me. The staff is awesome, most are also in recovery which makes the process more relatable. It's a large college like campus with dorms. Wake every day, shower, get ready for the day (bring your clothes a d cosmetics, I recommend good shoes for running around campus too and a calling card.) Beautiful location too, great scenery. I even had seen a bobcat there one evening! The program is very busy, lectures, groups and so forth. I felt like I was in college. My life started here st Cove Forge, I can't say enough GREAT things about it.

I wouldn’t send my worst enemy to this place. Two members of the detox staff were very kind but the rest were uncaring, controlling, power tripping and demeaning people. Detox consists of being in a building where you are allowed to peruse approximately 400 square feet for 3-5 days. Your options are to sleep or watch tv. There are no groups or counseling. The food is atrocious—I feed my dog better than they feed their patients. No fresh fruit and only salad as a veggie. Meat mounds..let that sink into your imagination for a second. Ants were everywhere in the detox building. Housekeeping came each day but couldn’t do anything to make it seem more clean or presentable. I will be reporting this facility using every means possible. No one should have to endure this place. Side note: I left AMA through administration because I refused to have my blood drawn. Best choice I’ve made in a long time.

Family of a resident. It's been 2 days. I couldn't be more disgusted with this place. Everyone is very polite when they're telling you how horrible their facility is though. This is an edit since I had further experience after my first post... I still don't like this place. I think it's ridiculous that they forced me to take a class that goes completely against my beliefs just so I could see my loved one. Like if I was gonna be a bad influence, 1 class wouldn't change that.

Worst place ever. They are willing to kick out people for no reason and not provide transportation for them if they do so and let them wonder the streets. They are suppose to help people not kick them out for no reason. They probably didnt like her. Also the residents are sneaking in drugs and selling them, and the staff has no idea. They are kicking out the people who are doing the drugs but not the people who are selling them. They should be doing raids in their rooms and helping the people who are doing the drugs. The people they kick out, they wouldnt even give then a ride home or buy them a bus ticket even though their insurance pays for it. The food is horriable, the staff is uncaring and is only there for a paycheck, and their programs just sucks.

My boyfriend went there. I went on a family visiting day where I got to spend 6 hours with him at a family group where families can talk to their loved ones about how their addictions affect them and families can learn about addiction if they aren't familiar with it.

This was the worst experience of my life. I came to this facility and was wrongly placed in detox instead of the partial program. The male and female residents interact regularly and it's dangerous. I had a resident grope me at one point during a meal. There is very little structure and the rules switch day per day. Therefore there is no client handbook. There is no schedule given to clients. Just follow what the techs say! The food was disgusting, barely edible. Smoking is permitted very few times per day.

If you live in PA especially western Pa.... do yourself a favor and don't come here! Go to Gateway or Turning point or Gaizer center or Greenbriar. This is by far the worst rehab I have ever been too. The staff is terrible! Not informative at all! Their is like maybe 2 or 3 staff members that I liked that would actually run a good lecture or group and be informative about the disease and the 12 step programs. For the most part the groups are a joke. Most of time your sitting around playing trivia games or pretty much all afternoon you have rec time which means you can go go the gym (which sucks btw), or sit in the one building and play cards... chess or watch the tv which you can't even hear because it's so loud in there. No couches or furniture in any of the tv lounges or anywhere just those uncomfortable steel chairs. This is what our insurance is paying for ? The food is awful and you barely eat. You don't even get 2nds which is like unheard in rehab. As far as small groups... depending on your counslers those can be a hit or miss as well. The only decent meeting is at night which is run by us as clients is the AA or NA meetings from 7 to 8. Most of time those are decent but it depends on the crowd. Alot of people from jail are sent here so the community whenever really solid either. It's hard to find good positive clients who really wanna stay sober too. Theirs always at least a couple though you just gotta pay attention. I could go on and on but I'd be wasting time. You get the idea I hope without me having to go into more detail. Again I'll say it again do yourself a huge favor and do not go here. Go to Gateway or Turning Point or Greenbriar.

I think this place needs to review its policies. Had a friend there that said that the men and women are not allowed to have relationships yet they are put together in groups and activities. What do you think is going to happen?????? Heard that several men were sent home for having relationships with women in some of the rooms, caught kissing in hallways.. Need I say more.? If you don't want this to happen separate them.. Don't make it their fault it's yours!!

Overall the workers were polite and acted like they cared about your recovery.. that is until your stuff is stolen. You do have a locked bedroom but that doesn't prevent your roommates from stealing your things. When I reported that several expensive shirts were gone along with my makeup- I was told it was my job to secure my things. I don't see how that is possible as you can't drag all of your stuff to every group. Don't forget to bring warm clothes in the colder months. The facility is in the mountains and it is cold. You have to stand outside for your meds and when it's cold and raining - it could be miserable. It was disappointing to learn that the trained counselors were not the ones who facilitated the groups. The groups were run by 20 year old techs with no education. So there are plenty of areas for improvement. I would not return to this facility.

There is a chance they will let your loved one walk off the property at 2am with no ride, none of their possessions, no phone, 3hours from home by car, no phone call to anyone, while said loved one is in a mental fog from mismanagement of their medication. The only way you will know what happened is when the police find aforementioned loved one 2 hours later, 10 miles away still disoriented. When you question nurses about what happened they will get defensive and rude and tell you that this sort of thing happens all the time and there's nothing they can do about it. You'll ask "so really? Patients routinely wander off into the night with no ride and nothing but the clothes on their back and that doesn't raise any red flags?". They will reply "yes people leave at 2am all the time, nothing we can do." Strange place. I'd probably go for greenbrier. I know for a fact they don't have a steady stream of addicts wandering off into the night all willy nilly

The most helpful 28 day program i know of. It is an amazing place that feels as comfortable as a 90 day program yet gives people the opportunity to get back on track also a personal thank you to Farley williams i beleive he is one of the most influentialon staff on the male side and shows amazing leadership in helping men learn how to handle their recovery and most importantly life as men should

Cove Forge disgusts me. My 19 yr old son has addiction issues and mental health issues. The only positive thing I have to say is that they picked him up on time. My son had abdominal pain, shortness of breath and felt that he had pneumonia. He obviously hasn’t been eating well with his addiction. He asked to see a doctor for 10 dys. He left a disturbing message on voice mail that he was getting sicker and sicker. I called an ambulance. Staff didn’t tell him the paramedics were there, they canceled the paramedics, but had him call me. When I spoke to him, he said staff was threatening him. I could hear them in the background threatening him. He said he felt unsafe. Staff and other patients were threatening him. I have called for a supervisor every day and no one has called me back. They get well over 30 thousand per patient and can’t provide a patient with medical care. The so called nurses never checked vitals or lung sounds let alone a basic assessment. This place is a joke. The therapist called today saying he was having behavior problems. Um ya that’s why he is there. If you fail to provide basic medical needs and treat your patients like animals, that’s what you are going to get. I’m not even a therapist and I know that much. Do not go to this place. I will be turning them in

This place is a joke....they breached confidentiality to my friends mother by giving info to her about when he can go and withgood reasons she was NOT to know. Shes very unstable and causes s multitude of problems for friend mentioned. Last time the friend discussed here had went to their detox program the driver was 6 hours lateand then got pulled over and was given a speedimg ticket! Some good role models for staff they have there. Very disgusted with cove forge and their staff

I genuinely don't understand people who were not pleased with Cove Forge... I just left this past Friday and went back the next day to attend their Alumni day. I went in not knowing what to expect, it seemed like a lot of random buildings spread across a huge plot of land, the detox building was a bit crammed and there were a lot, and I mean a LOT of people there. In the men's community alone there must have been well over 100 people. Once I settled in a bit and learned the routine, however, I found out that I loved it. I'm incredibly thankful I went during the summer, because 95% of my time was spent outside amongst musicians, storytellers and friends alike. All the staff was incredibly nice and helpful (save for two specific techs which I'm sure anyone who has been here recently knows the two I'm speaking of) counselor Danielle kept on my ass and really helped me get the treatment I needed. I never spent more than 21 days in treatment with 18 days being the least amount of time I've ever stayed... I asked for two additional weeks at Cove Forge, totalling something like 31 days. I met some of the best friends a guy could ask for and was granted first month's rent at a 3/4 house thanks to the clinical staff. The meals were pretty decent for a treatment center, and the Ropes course was an absolute blast (even though I'm terrified of heights). However, there's a horrible upper respiratory infection spreading around the place that people dubbed Cove Forge Crud. I still have it, but thankfully it's not something I did to myself for once. A little cough isn't going to bring me down the way my active addiction did. I'm incredibly grateful that I had the opportunity to experience Cove Forge and not have to go somewhere like White Deer Run of Allenwood or Greenbriar again. I have a sun tan for the first time in 10 years, I put on some weight and bulked up a bit, I met some really wonderful people and I'm supremely satisfied with my experience. I would highly recommend anyone with the right attitude to go to Cove Forge for chemical dependency. 100%.

overall, a not so goood experience. think the counseliing could be TONS better. felt little to no helpp at all through the couseling sessions. Good thing i got a blessing from God to be able to meeet Tech Cindy, who is the sole reason i recovered. Need more people like her to give the kind of help is actually needed.

went to the hospital my first night there. staff did not bother calling my emergency contact. after returning back to CF I was bounced around from one bed to another 6 beds in 11 days. too top it off I was accused of doing things I had not done. worst experience I have ever had.

I'm thankful for Cove Forge.. I'm from the outskirts of Philadelphia and they drove 5 hours to come pick me up and take me to treatment.. I was there for 34 days.. The Tech's were awesome and caring. The counselors only wanted the best for us addict's And alcoholic's.. It was like a college campus, going from class to class but with groups.. Your outside most of the time, where most Rehab's your locked inside for most of the day, except when it's smoke break time... Alot of people should be grateful, instead of being ungrateful for treatment like Cove Forge.. Be grateful you detoxed here and not prison or in a mental institute.. Where they don't care about how you feel.. Be thankful & grateful for the little things in life!! Life's easy, but living life in addition is hard, nothing is a cakewalk being in rehab, they're not going to wipe your asses for you and tell you your going to beat this disease.. You gotta put your own work into it, if you want to beat this & survive in a life full of addictions.. The only thing they do, is detox you, give you a bed and teach you Way's of keeping clean.. The rest is up to you!!!!

Discrimination is still alive and present at Cove Forge in 2021. I would not send any minority or my dog to this rehabilitation center The text counselor supervisors are unprofessional. The food is subpar if that I got to make two phone calls and saw Dr virtually once it sucked it's the first rehab I went to and I lost weight .. Find another rehab center Cove Forge is not the place!!!
