I know a Friday night is busy but when you have a patient lying in the hallway and has only seen her nurse 3 times since arriving? Waiting to get a cat scan since 5:30 and I’m still waiting. I asked about an hour ago for pain medicine and I’m still in severe pain waiting.... I’m very disappointed as I lie here on a gurney in the hall freezing....especially since I asked to be moved into a room when I saw one being cleaned and was told they have none...5 minutes later they rolled someone else in still leaving me to freeze in pain in the hall...this was Friday 10/19/18 at 9:39pm

If you have a family member that is confused, don’t take them to this hospital. My family member was there for 8 days and couldn’t find out what was wrong with her. They treated my family member terrible and was discharged with the IV still in and had to turn around to get it taken out. I am extremely disappointed with the care my family member had received there.

I don’t even want to give them 1 star. The ER new “process” is absolutely crazy. Where do i even start?? The nurse sitting at the check in desk who asks you all your history and problems while you’re checking in and for everyone else to hear. (I now know the name and whole medical history of the guy who checked in after me.) Or the doctor in triage who talks to u in a separate room and then goes out and announces to everyone your problem and what he thinks is going on..again so all the others checking in can hear. Or maybe how they put u in a room with another patient and a hard chair and only have a small portable curtain between you and the other patient. Or maybe how in this room only 1 patient gets the call bell..whoever is on that side of the curtain. Pretty sure that’s a safety issue as staff is supposed to make sure everyone has a call bell before they leave the room. Or maybe the registration girl who comes to your room and asks you your full name, dob, address, phone number, marital status, contact info, insurance info while the other patient is sitting on the other side of this curtain and can hear everything. Or how while the nurse is giving me medications and has all my info pulled up on the computer in the room they take the patient next to me out to another room so she has to walk by me and can see all my info on the computer and counter. The blood on the toilet and bathroom floor was pretty disgusting too, but that’s not nearly as bad as the privacy (HIIPA) and safety violations!

I love Penn State Hershey endocrinology office and the dermatology office! My biggest complaint is with the Internal Medicine Clinic on Hope Drive. I continually have issues with getting them to renew my prescription requests in a timely fashion. I have to call and leave angry voicemails on their “prescription line” in order for them to get it in gear! And I don’t leave renewals to the last minute I always send the requests through my pharmacy at least a week and a half in advance if not 2 weeks! And I’ve actually run out of medications and anyone with a chronic illness or on a pill you can’t just stop taking (i.e. birth control) knows you can’t have gaps. I don’t feel as though I should have to chase people down to do their own jobs! The other two clinics I see on site I have absolutely zero issues with they always have open lines of communication, respond to me quickly, and listen to all of my concerns and ideas. It’s just this one office!

The entire time I was talking with the doctor he was on his cell phone texting. They lied on the medical review/summary thing regarding why I was in the emergency room. This used to be the best hospital in the area. Now, they are the worst. If anything ever happens to me and it’s a life or death situation, I would rather die than go back to this place. If anyone decides to go here, make sure you have a good team of lawyers BEFORE you go. I promise you’ll need it.

Their doctors in the E.R. have no regard for their patients whatsoever, can't return calls or emails or anything. Leaves patients in limbo and treats them like dirt. Go to Lancaster General, you may wait longer, but you'll have a doc that cares about you and your opinion.

Before you send a bill to someone, you ought to have someone proof the patient invoice. Your billing department is horrible and could give a person heart failure. You didn’t apologize and your customer satisfaction score is a zero!

Great place to take your kids for care but the adult side of the ED seems to be lacking a bit. The interactions I had with those who cared for me were great but then I seemed to be forgotten. Never received my tests results and have work in the morning so I had to leave. Couldn't even find a nurse to talk to before walking out.

Recently my husband of one month was admitted to Hershey Med Center for what we thought was a very serious heart valve disorder. We came to the ER fully expecting open heart surgery. We left three days later with an odd, but manageable issue with BP. The entire experience at Hersey Med was beyond competent, compassionate and caring. Every team that we were introduced to went above and beyond to make sure we felt comfortable and taken care of.....and we did! So grateful for this facility and their amazing staff from triage to food services to nurses to social workers to maintenance to doctors! All amazing!

It's been a long time since my stay at the Hersey Medical Center Children's Hospital, but I have to say that the team there saved my life back in 2002 when I was 17 years old. At that time, I was admitted in a comatose state after an infection caused viral encephalitis. My dear family were terrified of losing me, especially after I was misdiagnosed at the first hospital that I had been taken to. Once I was transferred to the Hershey Medical Center, the doctors and nurses worked diligently to give me the best care possible and give so much hope to all of my family that I would make it through it all. I remained in the coma for over two weeks, but after awaking from it I found myself in the best of hands. The physical, speech, occupational therapists all worked diligently to get me functioning again and after three more weeks, I was able to head home. I've continued to have ongoing difficulties with my memory, hearing and was also diagnosed with epilepsy in 2012 all stemming from the encephalitis, but it is still safe to say that I would not be here today if it hadn't been for the care I received at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. I praise God for all of you who may have been there during my stay back then and I'm sure those who are there now are just as amazing and are continuing to do the hard work of saving lives and getting people back on the way to recovery! Many thanks to all of you!

My dad is still in HMC and the communication is HORRIBLE. I leave numerous messages for the cardiologists working with my dad and never get calls back. Only when I go into his room and demand one come talk to me do they talk to me. The doctors didn’t want my father eating anything after he had trouble swallowing. Then when I’m in there a doctor tells me they’re resuming his diet. He tries to eat and chokes again. The nurse comes in all mad about him eating and I tell her the doctor said it was fine. She pulls up his record on the computer and shows that speech said he should not eat. They now have him not eating again and said they may have someone available Wednesday. The communication level in this hospital is ZERO!

I have been sitting in the ER for over 4 hours now and I have not met one polite staff they all are very short with u and rude many other patients that are sitting here have said the same wish I could record how a nurse is talking to a patient right now in the blood draw area if I could go somewhere else I would!!!! Maybe a lesson in compassion wouldn't hurt with your staff hope things change when I am actually seen !!! Would not recommend this ER all the money put into this hospital means nothing if your not gonna have staff that has a little compassion and friendliness with sick patients!!

How do I go about speaking to hospital administration? Already talked to patient relations and she was rude. I have a very ill disabled husband, who came in and was in intensive care for around 5 days. I got a phone call from my ill husband today saying he would be home around 5 or 6 PM via ambulance. I said " WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? He said he was being discharged. I knew nothing about this. I am his wife and sole care giver. No care coordinator( or anyone) ever called me to discuss his discharge and his care plan. He cannot be home alone as he is a fall risk and many serious health issues. What if I was not home? I believe they just wanted to get him out and did not want to take any time to coordinate his needs. Probably because he will not get any better. This is negligent and by no means professional.

Wee for starters had to transger from York no biggy. But ive been here coming up on 2 days but awake for 24 hours straight due to them not being able to get us our bed. My son is sleeping fine but my pregnant girlfriend and I haven't even had a f***ing blanket to cover up with. We were told 5 minutes here 10 minutes there and every time its something else. The lack communication skills and more importantly they don't care.

My life has been saved by the Drs and staff at the Cancer center. At 71, most felt I was too old to withstand the rigors of having an SCT. The Drs at Hershey looked not at my age but also at my general health outside of the cancer and decided I was a candidate. My stem cell transplant was done 18 months ago I am very grateful to Dr Shin Mineishi and his staff who have given me a second chance at life.

Time and time again this facility shows that it only cares about co-pays. Needed paperwork completed for my daughter's school because she needs an epi pen due to a food allergy and they refuse. The doctor who wrote the prescription refuses to fill out the needed paperwork unless we come back for another visit. So now if we want the paperwork filled out we have to make an appointment, come in, and pay the co-pay for a specialist. So we'll be taking up the doctor's time not because our child needs attention but because they need more money. I can't wait to find another provider!
