Don’t worry about my name but I really enjoyed this place. They gave me the treatment I needed in a short amount of time, i really loved Michelle, Roger, Carlos, Alfreda, and Hewitt. I didn’t really enjoy some others but James was cool too. They made me feel happy and safe while I was there. Just what I needed to get better

This facility is a joke. They took a 12YO child and put her on high doses of three strong psychiatric medications within hours of meeting her with little to no background information. This child weighs maybe 70-80lbs and has never been placed on any medication. This is poor practice. How would they even begin to know what medications are working and which ones aren’t? Does she need to be placed on all of them? They continued by trying to do a counseling session for the father with his ex father-in-law. This isn’t a good environment for productive counseling for a father and daughter who are trying to mend their relationship in front of a man who doesn’t respect the father and is in a court case with him! They never attempted to try to make this session happen in a postitive environment and the father got accused of being a bad father because he refused to be put in the hostile situation. The saga continues during the child’s second visit to the facility within months of being released. The facility all out refused to help get the father and daughter counseling and only would allow the mother visitation. A mother I might add who has 8DHS reports and documented physical abuse on her records! This was their focus. They wouldn’t even entertain the idea of allowing the father in. This facility along with the GAL that were involved are a joke and entirely sexist! I would never recommend this facility to anyone!

I just liked the people there. The other kids like me. They are not crazy like the adults make them to be. They should be more considerate. ALSO THE THERAPIST MADE UP MORE THINGS WRONG WITH ME SO THAT I WOULD STAY..): I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE WHATSOEVER! also please teach the kids better things.....not JUST GROUNDING! it gets old when you do it twice a week for a month! It doesnt help.... to be honest! YOU GUYS CAN DO BETTER.........They need to learn stuff like.....medication...anxiety....depression...homoside..and problems that should be fixed like TODAY! Also if you are trying to get a kid to talk...this is not the way to do it! THIS PLACE IS LIKE ISOLATION! The workers were not considerate of the disorders neither the patients past. They kept telling me that i would go to residential.....FOR NO REASON! My parents claimed to wanting me home while i was inpatient...but the facility turned them away! I greatly dont appreciate this! ): IF A PARENT WANTS THEIR CHILD BACK....GIVE THEM BACK!

The only reason your getting two stars is because of sam and jshawn that was the nicest pepole here and Mrs alfreda she was nice but the counselors we're fake and you could tell they would mix your words and watch you 24/7 there was two people in there that were bully's and I kept telling them about it and they wouldn't do anything about it...

We have taken our adopted son there twice in two months with claims of suicide and homicide, spent 3-4 hours there, and they won't accept him. I am trying to get my son help when we are in crisis and they refuse to help. I will NOT be returning. I guess they are waiting for him kill me first. Coincidentally, he was admitted at another facility the next morning with better ratings.

I am on the fence with this place..my son only needs medication changes and once regulated,should be able to go home. I haven't talked with staff about if he is leaving soon,when or if he is able to leave soon,but we want him home and regulated soon. Im half way only because he called me crying last night saying he was scared and his shower was cold. He just needed help adjusting the temp when he showers. So i called to see about getting him assistance with that and the lady who took my call was shockingly rude to me. I about went up there to confront the staff because i take this very seriously. If you talk to families that way..how are the patients treated?? I work in health care as well..i get it gets busy and i get it is a lot to deal with..but you signed up for the job. I expect my child,who once correctly medicated and evaluated with a great care plan,is a wonderful child..to come home very very soon as he has been doing much better there lately and working hard to get to come home and i expect him to be better for it,not traumatized and in a worse state. Not happy with how i was treated when i called at all and will be watching and documenting all contact now. My child is my world,i expect the staff being paid to help him to treat him as such. So far im impressed,but that call has me leery.

I’m not leaving a negative comment just because, I have been here and it is not the place to go trust me. I was admitted late one night around 2am on the weekend. I was held there for 72 pretty much against my will. I was told by the staff that if I would try to leave before my 72 hours was over they would get a court order so I would have to stay for a extra 100 hours. I wasn’t giving my money that was in my personal belongings that they take from you when you are admitted for about two days even though I asked serveral times they would always say they are too busy. I asked for the basic necessities such as toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo/body wash, and even a pillow. And didn’t receive them until the day I was discharged . I waited my 72 hours because I knew if I would to leave against medical advisement they would get a court order that wouldn’t let me leave. When my Time was up I reminded the staff and told them that I was leaving that day and they told me “since I came in on a weekend my time didn’t start until that Monday” and was told that I would need to stay a additional 3 days. However I did leave that day. They gave me wrong medication and I wasn’t even admitted for the right thing. The staff was rude and treated us as children. Staff told us that if we ask for something once not to ask again or ask another staff member because it’s “staff stacking” .Parkside isn’t the place to go if you are needing help.Also, when I was admitted they always ask you “are you trying to killing yourself?” “How would you kill yourself” and more question similar to those. It felt as though they were pressuring me into saying it. (But I never did)

Don't listen to any of the negitive reviews. I've been here 3 times, and they were ALL good experiences. All the staff employed there are really friendly and polite. From the doctors to the nursing staff to the mental health techs, they treat you with respect. Every time I have a mental health crisis, I ALWAYS reccommend Parkside. Best inpatient and outpatient hospital I've been to.

Parkside psychiatric hospital is the most awful place I have ever worked. I had MANY tasks to do, and worked from home almost daily. There are nice people who worked there, but they are ALL paid much lower than what they deserve. I know this first hand as I was in the HR Dept and had access to their pay. It seems like the harder you work and more tasks you take on, the worse you are treated. My director has liked to his superiors many times to keep himself out of trouble. I don't know how the patient care is, as I didn't work on that side of the organization, however, I will tell you that money is Parksides number 1 priority. They definitely do not care about their employees, so I am not surprised to see all of these horrible reviews from the former patients who were needing help and left with more problems than they arrived with. I would love to speak to the CEO, Debra and fill her in on things she is unaware of. I'm certain she would be extremely shocked to know some of the things about how it is run. There is a reason that my position there had 6 different individuals in less than a years time. The common denominator is the HR director.

This is a terrible place to work. It is all politics and no one is ever doing anything right. The supervisors are a bunch of mental patients themselves. The nursing staff has anxiety issues and makes working there a headache. Doctors have really weird rules like for patient's who smoke. The have a rules sheet that says they cannot smoke if they do not follow orders. They treat the patients (especially the morning staff) like little kids. During orientation they tell you all the things that will get you fired and then don't follow through with them. It's all political and a headach to work there.

This is my review of Parkside. I rang the bell the lady who came to the door. Rude woman said sit down someone will be there sometime. Then the evualation with Jennifer. And a training person after we answered all the questions we went back out in the waiting room we were called back and Jennifer proceeds to tell me IN FRONT of my child that I needed family counseling and it was my fault he does what he does and doesn't listen. Very unprofessional I told his counselor and I wasn't too happy. I'm a grandparent raising 3 boys and my oldest is 46 and I have a 44 year old and 37 and 32 year old dang I guess I raised them. So not impressed with Parkside

Unfortunately I cannot give less than 1 star. I was told when admitting her that I can call anytime during the day and if she was in counciling they would tell me when I could call back. This is false . Patients are only allowed phone calls at 6:30 for 5 minutes and that's it ( was actually told first that it was not really an issue , tried to call and was informed first that the time is 6:00, after I told this person I wanted her name so if I called at 6:00 and didn't get to speak to my daughter I could tell them who told me to call at 6:00 because I have had nothing but false information from the staff , turns out it's actually 6:30) tryung to to figure out aside from channel 2 news , where I can start to escalate some of the pure incompetence running rampant in this facility where peopl's children are being kept with no or very minimal contact with thier parents

Do not send your children to this nightmare of a place. My 8 year old spent a week in this hellhole and everyday I spoke to him he told me of a different kid punching him in the face, or of staff members mistreating him. Whenever I would speak to the head Nurse to find out what was going on I was lied to each time. I was told my child was making things up because a staff member had been with him the entire day at all times working with my son one on one. My son told me he spent most of his time in the padded time out room alone and locked in even when he had not done anything wrong except let a staff member know that another child had hit him. The staff are completely incompetent, and lazy. When I asked what the day report stated as far as the things my son was telling me were being done to him, I was told there was no report of any physical incidents. 3/17/2018 I spoke to my son and he told me that a kid gave him a "major beat down" and that a staff member Mr. Herb had told them they could fight and watched them fight. I was furious and wanted to pull him out right then but I decided to wait until the face to face visit the next day to get all sides of the story. When I got to the hospital I was approached by the Nurse I had spoken to the night before, she told me she had talked to my son and the Staff member involved. She said my sons story had changed saying he told her that him and the boy were not fighting they were playing and the staff member involved had told her that he saw the boys roughhousing but it didn't looked harmless so he just walked on by. I asked my son if what she said was true and he said no and gave me the exact same story he had given me the night before word for word. The staff member involved was there so I questioned him on the incident and he gave me a completely different story than what the nurse says he gave her. Mr. Herb said he told them they could fight but it would cost them their levels and other things, he claimed it was to make them think about what they would lose.Now these are mentally unstable kids most cant comprehend that an adult in an a position of authority, telling them they can break the rules at a cost, is not giving them permission to do it.My 16yr son then noticed old yellow bruising under my sons eye. On 3/12/18 my son told me a kid punched him in the eye, when I inquired about the it I was told my son was lying because he had a staff member with him the entire day. The next day he told me of another kid hitting him, I was given the exact same response as the day before. There were no reports of any physical incidents between my son and another child although my son said he reported the kids to staff, yet my son had a black eye that had been there for a few daysI asked the Nurse about his eye during the visit and how it happened since I was first told he had lied to me about being hit. She was unable to give me any answers and gave me copy paper to write my grievances and concerns out on. Just to clarify this was not an official legal document I was given, it was blank copy paper. We finished our visit and I decided I would call the next day and speak to someone. I talked to his therapist on 3/19/18 she said she would look into it. On 3/20/18 the therapist called me and informed me they were discharging my son on March 22nd. I asked why and she told me that the unit was just too stimulating for my son and that he couldn't handle that amount of stimulation I am looking into filing a lawsuit against Parkside for negligence, verbal and physical abuse and false information regarding a minors welfare. These hospitals are put in place to help children learn how to follow rules, accept responsibility for their actions, learn coping skills and ways to manage their outbursts and anger. Its so sad because my child's behaviors are worse now than they were before I admitted him into this place.

I’ve been there 1 time because I tried to kill my self so they put me in adolescent residential and some of the staff members are nice some of them aren’t but if you follow the rules and stuff you’ll be fine I just minded my own business and stuff and I was really sad and depressed because I missed my girlfriend and I would always isolate everyone and so then I told the dr and she put me on lexapro I’m not really a medicine type of person I don’t really take pills if I don’t know what they are but I decided to try it and it definitely helped. It decrease my depression and my anxiety and I feel a lot better and before I came to parkside I was rude hateful I was literally the B word to everyone so after a month being in parkside I feel like I’m a better person then I was before so if you want to send your kid there you should they just got to follow the rules and stuff and you’ll be fine
