Front office was very kind. Really long wait and when taken back for intake, we were treated in a very dismissive and uncaring way. Rude, to be quite honest. Referred with hope for quick action and help for a young teen. Just didn't happen. Basically left him feeling like his issues don't matter. I can handle the rejection, but I can't understand being so abrupt with a young person in turmoil, looking for some support. We understand being "short staffed" and no appointment available. I just have questions about someone throwing up their hands and nearly shouting, there is nothing they can do. There are other ways to share that information , especially if someone looking for help is fragile. Just my humble opinion. They may be great for others.

My daughter, had a scheduled appointment Oct. 22, 2018 with Counseling and Recovery in Sand Springs, OK. We met with Keena for intake. She introduced herself as a case manager. During the intake process she gave my daughter some forms to complete. On one form it asked how many lived in your household. My daughter wrote “2”. Then said “what about *******?” and started laughing. Keena had a blank look on her face. I told her *******was our dog. Then Keena said “no you can not include your dog”. Keena had a form in front of her and said she had questions to ask me. I said ok. She asked “is there a parent NOT IN THE HOME? I said “ YES”, Keena circled something on the paper. Then she asked is there a parent that is disabled? I said “YES”. Keena circled something on the paper. Then she asked is there a parent not working? I said “YES”. Keena circled something on the paper. Next Keena handed me a mental health questionnaire, it was standard. Then she directly asked me “does your child’s father live with you? I said, “no he does not even live in the state of Oklahoma.” Keena did not reply. She asked a few other questions then she asked “AGAIN”. “Does your child’s father live with you? I said “what part of does not live in Oklahoma do you not comprehend?” Keena did not reply. She asked other questions. Then asked again “does your child’s father live with you?” I said “if you really wanna know he’s married, do you think we all live together?” Keena had a blank look on her face. She asked if my daughter had ever had a TB test. I told her I was not sure if that was a standard test given at her age. Then Keena said has your child been exposed to anyone in the home with TB? I asked for her manager. Allie the manger came in very defensive. I told her that being in here with Keena was as demeaning as going to DHS. Which is why I do not sign up for anything at DHS. I told Allie that Keena was asking questions that were not mental health related and asking over and over again trying to get me to change my answer. I asked Allie what “f*****part of he does not live in Oklahoma does she not understand? Then I asked Allie, “to your knowledge are there any other states inside of Oklahoma? Allie said no. I said well Keena does not seem to comprehend that. Allie said these are just standard questions and part of our intake process. I told her that was not true because I have been going to the Tulsa location for about four years. I was never asked any non-mental health questions. Then Allie said the questions for youth are different then the adult questions. I was scheduled an appointment to complete intake and have therapy with Shiron Harris. At this point my thoughts were coming together and I knew Keena was trying to get me to change my answer to turn the information in to Soonercare and get my daughter kicked off the insurance. In fact Keena stated during intake that in order for Soonercare to be billed she needed me to sign the form. I never agreed to be questioned about “non-mental health” things and then have Counseling and Recovery turn that information over to Soonercare or whoever and Counseling and Recovery receive money for turning over my information. Stigma is real and a lot of people will not seek help. Having employees like Keena and Allie will only make stigma get worse. Keena decided to interrogate a person with a diagnosed mental illness on if the child’s father lived in the household repeatedly. She was not looking at her computer or a sheet of paper each time she asked that question. Then after I spoke with Mr. Campbell the director he could not think of a reason I would be asked that question. My daughter had current coverage. She was not being signed up for insurance. Then after filling a formal complaint with the state I was dismissed as a patient from the Tulsa location. I did not care because at the end of the day I will always advocate when dirty mental health care providers are trying to pull a fast one.

I went in and set up sevices but it seems i didnt do it all. I finally went in because they kept hanging up on me for an appointment they told me I need to make. The secretary says its first two clients who come-in a day pnly. She never said that to begin with, she said i needed an appointment.

I had heard great things about this place and was referred to them when I was experiencing a crisis with my child (suicidal thoughts). I called the CALM center and explained to the call taker the situation. The man that I spoke with was extremely uncaring and blasé the whole two minutes I spoke with him. He told me that he would take my information and a therapist would call me back. I was kind of surprised by that response since this was an urgent matter and the website expresses to "call anytime of day or night to access care." He took my name, my child's name and other information about them, told me that a therapist would call me and then hung up. He never even asked for my phone number! That was on June 20th and two weeks later, I still have heard nothing from anyone. Fortunately, I didn't hold my breath for a call back and took my daughter somewhere else where she received treatment that same day. I really hope that this doesn't happen to someone else who needs help and I strongly suggest that this man receive some better training. It's quite obvious he needs to work on his people skills or find a different job.

Wrap around did help with getting my son's diagnosis of ADHD, and attending some school meetings. Other than that the wrap around team spent most of the time talking about themselves and other clients.One of the wrap around team came close to dozing off a few times, even sitting there with her eyes closed There was no follow through on the parenting class I asked them about. Management did not take my complaint seriously.I attempted to receive adult services for myself. The doctor told me if I wanted medication for my anxiety I would have to go to a private practice, (Nevermind that there are several non addictive options for anxiety) and the doctor LAUGHED at me when I left his office.Some months later, I was talking again to the wrap around team about needing help with anxiety and was advised it would probably be best that I not go to them because one of the new doctors was "a real jerk"Bright spots? The doctor who evaluated my son for ADHD. I can't remember his name at the moment. The nurses, office staff and Doctor O'Brian are very nice. There are some nice folks but there are some rotten apples. You might do well, you might be treated like rubbish...good luck!

No insurance, no physician, overwhelmed & Anxious Depression- I was told by friend to try CRS. First visit there I was treated w/concern and left with a glimmer of Hope. A year later I am improving thru therapy& medication. (Bring a book coz the magazines are Old)
