I have been inpatient here for mental health and outpatient and both is excellent compared to other hospitals. I feel like the staff cares and that my wellbeing is first. The facilities are clean and the food is actually decent. Their IOP program is very helpful for my mental health

I have never been more disrespected or degraded ever in my whole entire life. The staff was awful, I was given the wrong medicine and was denied of the medicine i have been taking for two years. I was scared out of my mind while i was there. I went in wanting help and came out more depressed. None of the patients were treated correctly. All of the therapist were either liars or talked to you as if you were a child. Maggie, one of the social workers at this facility, was a two faced liar. She did not communicate with the doctors. She alone tried to keep me there for 7 days when i was supposed to be there for 5. She is helping the facility make money by keeping the patients there for longer than they are supposed to. This is the worst place for a depressed or suicidal person to be. NO MATTER WHAT, try your best to stay away from here. Columbus springs needs to be shut down now.

Only thing I can say is that this facility DESERVES and NEEDS to be shut down. This place is ridiculous and deserves to be shut down. They deserve only a DAMN lawsuit. Marc of the finance department threaten me with not being able to pay 500.00 upfront, marc kept harassing me for my deductible, two other white people were upset with him because he was demanding me and yelling at me in the hall way, they told me to request to speak to Rafael because Rafael would put you on a payment plan, I called Rafael explained the situation to him, Rafael is unprofessional as well because he never calls you back.. marc found out that I went to Rafael for assistance, and he had all of us kicked out of the program on March 9, 2018 he kicked me out liz out and brad out the same day with unfinished therapy, we were still sick anxious and upset and they did not give a darn, I called my insurance company to see if they tried to get us more sessions and my insurance stated they never requested more sessions just all lies. Due to prejudice this endangered my physical and mental health. This place is to be a safe haven, this place have a mission statement on the entrance that they do not follow. Julie the receptionist does not like like black people she interacts with whites and not blacks and Serena Boss is racist as well, serena manager took my paperwork yesterday and stated she would have the missing part filled out by the therapist serena, to find out by a voice mail that since serena is not my therapist that she cannot fill out my paperwork, as a manager why could she not tell me that in my face yesterday, why would you bother to take my paperwork, so racist, I no other people who have finished their treatment there and was able to get their paperwork filled out. so awful. And lastly we have the high yellow lady at the front desk name laurie she is black but she want to be white acting stated she was a manager, however she can't get nothing right, when you call and ask for a person and she always transferring you to the wrong person, just a joke. I went back up to the office today to pick up my paperwork and laurie the so called manager stated she could not get my paperwork, which was a big fat lie, if anyone has experienced any kind of racism call me at 614-946-9811 lets take them to court. Don't go to Columbus Springs East they don't listen to you and will just let you die my anxiety has been at 10 with this blatant prejudice and racism..Total cluster. Reception is apparently too incompetent to schedule appointments, or answer the phone half the time. On top of that, they are rude and act like scheduling an appointment is an inconvenience. The social worker was rude, completely empathetic and made the process extremely difficult for us all. Serena is a big hypocrite phony and want a be something she aint, she called me stated if you need anything from me just give me a call, I called her three times today and she avoided everyone of my calls fake....Horrible experience, not upfront about what insurances they accept- Rude, unprofessional. Do not recommend.

I have been here twice. The staff DON'T LISTEN. The first time I was here, was horrible. When I tried to speak to the psychiatrist, he will keep increasing the dose of my medication without telling me. He will keep increasing it until I got sick. The staff don't seem to understand anything about introverts and extroverts. They think being around people 24/7 will help you but it won't. I need to have alone time to recharge. The rules are not consistent. It depends on each shift. Some staff members at the nurses station are rude. And, there were times when I will stand at the nurses station but they will ignore me and continue their conversations. You also have to ask them for towels and washcloths all the time. Depending on who is at the front desk, you might wait for a long time. Also, when I asked the nurse to let me outside during outside break. She spoke to me in the most patronizing way and said "Do you wanna go outside?". The same way I spoke to my dog. That annoyed me. The lunch staff are worse. There is a lunch lady that looks like she hates life. And, the lunch staff are just plain mean and rude. I was first in line for lunch. The lunch lady ignored me. She started to serve the person that was behind me. Like I wasn't there. I am used to being treated like I am invisible everywhere else but I do not want to be treated that way here too. Also, on the day that I was getting discharged. Which brings me back to the point that the staff don't listen to the patients. I told my therapist that I won't be able to do PHP or IOP because I am in college(and I could not afford it). I did say that I will be able to do medication management and would get a therapist. Yet, they took me to the other side of the building to PHP. I was confused about why they took me there. I ended up speaking to my therapist and this other mean lady. They wanted me to start PHP or IOP right now. They didn't give me time to think about it. They are telling me to decide on it today. I clearly told my therapist that I don't want to do it THE DAY BEFORE. But, she nodded her head and wrote PHP on the paper anyways. I also asked her for transportation because my bus pass expired while I was in the hospital. They said that if I go to PHP then I will get a ride home...I didn't have much of a choice. After being pestered repeated by two people---I told them what they wanted to hear. After a while, I thought "screw you" and left. I walked a few minutes---stranded because they didn't want to get me a ride. The first time I was here, they called a taxi. My second time, they leave me stranded because they don't know how to listen and assumed that I will go to PHP. I considered hitch hiking but decided against it. I wait 20 minutes then I call my friend(with my almost dead phone). She picked me up and I told her about my terrible experience here. I left a lot of details out of this review because I can go on and on about how bad my experience here is. 9/29/17-10/6/2017(The time I was here). If you are going through something or want to get help for a loved one. Don't send them here! Yeah, there were few positives(like few good staff) but other than that. You should go to another hospital because they don't listen here. They have a hard time letting you go home especially if you have insurance.

Their outpatient program and med management are a joke. It is impossible to get in touch with the staff. They do not return calls for weeks, no matter what the issue. My husband had a very bad reaction to the medication they prescribed but he was not able to get in touch with his prescriber; he needs his meds as he is schizophrenic. He received not help. They do not care about helping their patients, they only care about how much your insurance will pay. When I was inpatient, I spoke to the psychiatrist twice in eight days. They would not give me medication for illness unrelated to my mental health. The evening and night nurses are rude and have no compassion for people with mental illness, they actually sat behind the counter and mocked and ridiculed the patients.

This place sucks. One of the patients on my ward stalked me and other young women for DAYS. Everything was reported to staff and nurses but management didn't care. I even tried to file with police but police don't have jurisdiction over this private company. They set me up with a therapist I couldn't afford and didn't listen to my needs. This place is an absolute joke. Was sent here by OSU to do outpatient (without consent, might I add). It’s supposed to be an intensive therapy program but there’s no real therapy. In the seven days I spent there I saw my counselor/therapist twice, for a total of maybe 30 minutes combined. I did see the psychiatrist once a day for about 5 minutes, and he did seem to be somewhat competent and helpful. Upon arrival they give you a folder which has your rights as a patient (given by the state of Ohio) but they completely disregard them when you bring it up. They don’t care about your rights, you have none while you are in this prison. I’m terrified to even go back for medicine management. They use fear tactics to keep you there— don’t listen. I would not recommend this place to ANYONE.

There are many reasons why I submitted an AMA during my inpatient experience. For starters, communication between staff members is poor. My psychiatrist told me that my social worker felt that I needed to stay in the hospital for longer, but my social worker had told me that she felt confident in allowing me to leave. My psychiatrist also told me that I was resisting treatment, but I countered with the fact that I was attending every therapy session. When I was admitted to the hospital, I was told by various staff members that my boss would be contacted, my landlord would be told why my rent would be late, and other various tasks would be taken care of. Nothing was done until I asked for the phone, which is shared, and made the calls myself. Thankfully someone in finances was able to assist me too, but that is not who I was told was going to help me. Even when I left, the staff seemed to communicate with each other poorly, which continued to affect me. For instance, I needed some copies of my paperwork while I was inpatient. I called, and the woman at the front desk told me that the copies would be made and I would be notified two weeks later. Two weeks passed, and I heard nothing. When I inquired about it, they had no idea what I was talking about. The most recent trouble I have had with them is payment. I established a payment plan MONTHS ago. I received one letter reflecting this payment plan, but ever since then, they continue to send me bills asking me for the full amount. I just received a letter demanding me to pay the entirety of the money that I owe (excluding all the money I have paid thus far). I would love to discuss this with the financial department... but I cannot get ahold of them. In fact, I have been calling them since Wednesday and leaving messages asking them to call me back as soon as possible, and I have received silence. I do believe psychiatric hospitals are important, but I do not recommend this one. That being said, if you are in crisis mode, I recommend finding help wherever you can to save yourself.

Customer service sucks at this facility. I was told my first medication management visit would d them that day to make sure that it was set. Nope. cost $60 with all other visits being $30. Well unfortunately my first appointment they screwed up which I found out after driving up there. So I made an appointment while standing at the desk. Well low and behold I called them that day and I wasn’t on the scheduled. Now both these appointments were before July 1 2018. Well I finally got in after the 1st but the charges changed from $60 to @140 and $30 to $50. Of course I didn’t know that till an hour before my appointment. I’m on disability so I’m pretty stretched for cash already. I have emailed various department heads and the business office for an $80 refund. I haven’t recieved my refund which I should I would’ve made it in there before increase took effect. Haven’t heard from them.

I came into this hospital for the inpatient program and found it extremely helpful. It allowed me to really step back and think about the experiences that got me here, along with having really excellent staff to help me along the way. The group therapy sessions are really beneficial for everybody dealing with mental health issues and I highly recommend it to anyone who thinks they need the extra help.

Please believe all negative reviews!!! When my child was sent there the first thing I did was get on here and read all of these reviews. I decided to put those reviews aside and make her experience a good one, or at least I tried. It was a total nightmare. My daughter was sent to OSU ER by her therapist for overnight observation and to get a head start on medication since she couldn’t prescribe anything and my daughters appt with the dr who could was six weeks away. She WAS NOT suicidal. There they decided, without telling her, that she was going to be “pink slipped”. She didn’t even get an option as the where she was sent. Columbus Springs East was chosen for her. First they bring her in and put a stack of papers in front of her at 4:00 am and tell her to sign them. (She’s been in the ER for 12 hours and is drugged up during all of this) Included in that stack was a paper saying that even after the “pink slip” expires in 72 hrs that she gives up her right to leave. She was started on medication and to be honest the first few days DID help her. Then it came close to that pink slip expiring and they had to find a reason to keep her so they increased her medication(and another person who came in the same day, on the same medication, who also just so happened to have nice insurance) Neither patients needed an increase from 150mg to 300mg. Both were very happy with the lower dose, we as their parents agreed. BUT if you increase the dose then you have to keep them so many days to monitor for bad reactions. Coincidence??? By the second day my daughter was on the 300mg I came in to a completely different person. She was more depressed and anxious than when she came in. The other patient? He left AMA that day and they acted so surprised because we were going to also but decided to give it one more day. Read these reviews! People leave AMA all the time!!! I asked to speak to the Dr to see when my daughter was getting out, because by that time that place was causing her the most depression and anxiety, and he refused to talk to me. The social worker (Maggie?)that called me the day she was admitted never called me again, even though she said she would be keeping me updated. As for therapy.... my daughter learned how to make a box, she learned how to pound on drums, she learned how to sleep with nurses talking and carrying on at the nurses station. She didn’t get one on one therapy, she missed most of the therapies that she did want (that she found out from people who’ve been there before or awhile) because they seem to always get cancelled week after week, and she and her family missed out on family therapy because you guys don’t even care enough to take the time and effort to change the day and time on your website. This place should be shut down. The people in there are nothing but dollar signs to them. Don’t trust them with anyone that you love.

Columbus springs was very helpful and very supportive from the very beginning. Not only were the doctors and nurses very helpful but so was everyone else who was in here. We were all here for a variety of reasons but was able to come together and support each other. I loved my stay and highly recommend it for anyone else looking for treatment.

Made everything worse. No one cared that I’d been the victim of domestic violence. Tried to keep me longer because my insurance was good. Just in it for the money. They treat patients with extreme disrespect. Go anywhere but here.

Staff here are mostly wonderful, caring people who really want what's best for the patients. They are very attentive and do their best to help everyone. Therapists are extraordinary, always giving extra time and attention to the patients, wanting to help them through their problems. Groups are plentiful and directed to helping patients cope with every day life situations. Overall, this is a safe, therapeutic place to stay and get through crises.

My friend signed herself in of clear mind and while there within 2 days spoke to a psychiatrist once. Meanwhile she has 2 kids and plans for care were negated, so she signs an AMA and was still held without her consent. This only causes further stress to her while true healing and care could have been managed as an outpatient, allowing her to both get treatment as well as care for her 2 children. In other words if you have kids seek treatment elsewhere.

I spent 3 days at Diley Med. Center and all they did was put me in a fabulous room and only came in to check vitals, When I checked in at Columbus Springs, they had a variety of helpful group meetings every day. I got to do all sorts of interesting things and all of the group leaders were enthusiastic and very nice. Being a dual diagnostic facility helps to guide people into the right treatment They are very regimented but you get used to it. All in all, I had a very good stay. I opted for aftercare three days a week for several weeks. I'm still in the IOP program as I'm writing this. I would highly recommend this facility as they really try to get involved with each patient in order to offer the right treatment for each patient.

I do not normally write reviews and usually when people write reviews it is because they are upset and negative. However, this review is an absolute necessity! If I could give Columbus Springs East 10 stars I would! If not for the staff, the therapists, the peer supporters, and the overall atmosphere of this facility, I know I would be dead from either substance abuse issues or suicide. This place changed my entire life!!! I could never begin to pay back all of these special people that took my hand and led me out of the absolute darkest moment of my existence. Every single staff member played an integral part in my success, even the negative experiences, because it pushed me to change and grow. The program will only work if YOU work it and have a growth mindset. YOU have to be brave and ready for change and allow this faculty to arm you with the tools you need to conquer your demons. If I am ever asked what changed my life, my response is always, "God, my mom, my husband, and Columbus Springs!" Period. With your higher power, your support system, and Columbus Springs, you truly can come out of the darkness.

Turn in Management here they need to be replaced. What is allowed here is unacceptable . They still care about there staff or the clients they just want the money. They want money so bad that there are clients with COVID. I pulled my sister out of there . Staff seems stressed and over worked can’t heal people when you are overwhelmed.

I just spent 3 1/2 days on Laurel Unit at this facility for depression/ anxiety. They couldn’t keep me any longer because I refused to allow them to change any of my medications. I learned upon arrival that I had been pink-slipped by Licking Memorial Hospital ER, of which I was completely unaware. I was told that I could sign AMA, but that that would actually extend my stay. These complete strangers then have utter control of your life. You are in prison, and they want to keep you there as long as possible. They treat you like an animal. The first thing I was told, in my single conversation with the therapist, was that they wanted me to go to their PHP after discharge, from 9a-2p daily. This person didn’t know me at all. She just wanted to make more $$$ for the facility. I never saw her again. I was again told that I should do the PHP at discharge, even though I had had zero symptoms for 2 days. I am a kindergarten teacher, so this idea was ludicrous… $$$. I spoke only to a nurse practitioner, twice, during my entire time there… and that was not for counseling, just to discuss meds and why she wouldn’t discharge me. There was NO one-on-one therapy at all. The groups were all about teamwork with your fellow clients… WHAT?!?! They overdosed a patient on one of my nights there. I have my RN license and walked her, stumbling and drooling, to her room. The staff watched us go by with no concern or offers to help. I went back to the nurse and asked him to go check on her, which he did not do. He said, “I’m not surprised. I’m sure she’s down for the count”! I returned myself to check on her, and she was completely stooped over, hands on the floor, speech unintelligible. I pushed the emergency button, and the staff finally came down. The nurse I had previously spoken to said right in the room…. “Hell yeah. I gave her a shit-ton of meds.” This dear lady ended up being taken by squad to the hospital to be revived. The evening aid requested that I deliver my roommate’s snack to her this same night. Why was I paying $1,000 a day to be there and work for them? On my last day, twice— not just once, but twice— a nurse came to give me medication that I had already been given by another nurse. If I had been a truly ill mental patient, I’m sure I would have just taken the double doses. They neglected to order my daily allergy medication, which caused me to have two severe asthma attacks on my last day and evening. The day shift nurse was helpful. However, one of the evening shift nurses told me I needed to wait until they got their night med cups filled for the entire unit to help me. I stood there coughing, gagging, and hardly able to breathe for 45 minutes. The 2 nurses remained in the med room and completely ignored me. At least the other clients were concerned for me. After the nurse finally addressed me, she took the phones and placed them on the inside of the nurse’s desk. She didn’t want me to call anyone. I just reached over and took one of the phones. She demanded, “Who are you calling?!?!” Absolutely none of her business. I called my husband in terror because I couldn’t breathe. He was devastated at his inability to help me at all. I wasn’t not allowed to have any chocolate, even though smokers get to smoke 5-6 times per day. The food is truly disgusting. One day there wasn’t even any coffee. The aid asked the cafeteria worker to make some, and she said, “No.” Meanwhile, they make loudspeaker announcements, telling the staff to come down to the taco truck or to the office for cupcakes and ice cream. Several nurses got in a screaming and cussing argument one day because someone had allowed an extra smoke break. This was right in front of all of us… because they don’t see their clients as human beings. The staff uses vile, filthy language all the time. They do not allow you to have visits with your loved ones. At all. They do not differentiate clients by diagnosis. I was in a detox unit, also with violent and schizophrenic patients. The washing machines smell like and make your clothes smell like mold. They had a bedbug infestation on Maple Unit. The nurses and aids told us that they had put another patient in the room, even though they knew about the bed bugs. They come right into group therapy, hand clients their bills, and make them sign that they have been received. Very caring and professional, don’t you think? When you enter Columbus Springs East, you exit the United States of America; and you are no longer a person. The only help I got was from the other clients who were like me, we helped each other survive.

Actually would give 0 stars if I could. Horrible place for patients and obviously staff! Administration is racist and completely unprofessional. Gossip all over the building from the Quality control director being high on cocaine to the scheduler having sex with all the male pcas. Staff are aggressive and completely out of line with patients on a daily basis without reprimands. PCAs smelling like alcohol and becoming belligerent and aggressive with staff with no redirection. Kitchen staff are from the gutter and treat patients extremely rude and unprofessional. Therapists do their job at the bare minimum and could care less whether patients actually get better or not. Nurses there don’t know anything and there are more drugs being passed around by patients than by nurses as nurses do not do their jobs and watch patients take their meds. Nurse manager didn’t even know how to do CPR on a patient that overdosed. Males and females in same room with inappropriate behaviors going on all the time. Being at this hospital is basically like being in a soap opera! Would not recommend this place to anyone serious about getting better.
