When I first entered the program back in 2011 my future looked bleak. I had no direction, no drive, no purpose and frankly, did not care to be alive. I had been to other treatment centers but nothing seemed to be working. My family was scared for me. Things were not looking good. Now I can’t wait to get up in the morning and start my day! I am the proud owner of 2 retail shops and am engaged to the man of my dreams! Life is beautiful and every day is another adventure—I am fulfilled beyond anything I could have ever imagined for myself! I had no idea how good life could be!! CR was more than just a “treatment center”—it was a community, both staff and residents became the family and friends i needed, and the support system that was essential for my recovery. CR focuses on the WHOLE person, not just the illness, and that is what makes them different. CR taught me the skills, and helped me form the foundation I needed to get out there and be successful in the world, and I’ve been building on those skills ever since! I’ve made leaps and bounds using the skills I learned from the program and now live a happy life with a strong support system. Thank you Cooper Riis!!!

I was very fortunate to spend a year at Cooper Riis. I was at the farm from May'15 to Oct'15 and Oct'15 to May'16 in the former Foothills Community Program. When I got there I was shocked there was no palm trees and beaches but there were mountains which were amazing to look at everyday. CR instilled structure and accountability which I didn't have. I am Dually Diagnosed meaning I have two diseases of addiction and mental health together. If I didn’t find my underlying causes and conditions I don’t know where I’d be and for me finding that out is all thanks to CR. One of the coolest things I got to experience was being the chairman of peer led Dual Diagnose Anonymous (DDA) which is peer discussion meeting where any resident may attend to share your experience strength and hope of their recovery. I was able to mentor new men entering the doors at the farm. Lodge outings were amazing. What I also learned is how to have fun in recovery. An example I experienced is just picking up a volleyball am asking others to play and having an awesome time- staff joined a lot of the time as well which was awesome.

A terrible experience, I was neglected as a client/resident at cooper Riis. I was sold a very different program from what the experience was. Such a huge disappointment to me and my family. There are many other options for treatment for yourself or a loved one, keep searching! You or the person you’re researching for deserves better.

Their various specialties blend into the holistic approach we were looking for for our family member. The Spring Mill farm campus offers a wonderful environment for healing and recovery from a mental/emotional/physical challenges.

CooperRiis is easily the worst treatment program I have been to. While there are some really great people there (shoutout to Twyla, Mel, Tom, Barry, and basically all the clinical staff), the team that manages CooperRiis is incompetent and cruel. A male patient was sexually abused at the farm, and the administration team chose not to do anything because "men can't be raped". While most of the staff are extremely helpful and warm people, the higher ups, specifically Eric Levine, Emma Lovejoy, and Carrie Hanson, displayed profound cruelty to me and my fellow patients during my time at the Farm. I never expected leaders of a mental health program to act they way they did. The Farm's "psychiatrist" is easily the worst I have ever dealt with. She is clinically incompetent and prescribed me with a high dose of medication meant to treat sometime I am not and have never been diagnosed with. She lied about the behavior of residents to other staff and misses meetings frequently. She is so rude and demeaning, it's shocking someone like that would be working in the mental health industry. There are good things about the Farm, like the beautiful campus and skilled therapists, but the environment created by the higher ups makes CooperRiis feel like a chaotic and unsafe place to try and heal. I do NOT recommend.
