This was a horrendous place. It was a very dark place. Some staff cared but most didn’t, including the doctors. I already had manic depression and really bad anger issues along with suicidal/ homicidal tendencies. The staff and other patients that always tried to bully me did not help at all. It drove me crazy. In the end I started a big fire and didn’t say anything. I didn’t care who died, including myself. When one of my roommates came out the shower and went into the dorm, she yelled out fire and everyone was evacuated to the recreation room. I played with cops heads until I thought that I might have it worse once I get to the police station and gave myself up by telling them what I used and gave it to them. I’m free now but it was a very dark place at that time to the point where I would carve the devil’s pitchfork onto my skin. Now I’m more positive but very dark in nature when someone angers me. But I use magic instead of trying to burn people instead. And it’s only when I feel bullied or something like that. I even tried to apply as an extra for the #orangeisthenewblack because I knew For a fact I would be the prefect fit, but when they called I had a family emergency and missed that opportunity. But I don’t recommend parents to allow their kids to come here. They will come out worse than when they went in

If I could give zero stars I would!! If you want your child to feel like they’re in a dirty county jail as if they’re being punished for their mental health this is the place!! Dr Mathew Jacob is an unprofessional condescending asshat... who ignored and dismissed my 15 yo. And Donna whose an aid of sorts in “Cottage D” allowed and watched my daughter be assaulted TWICE within 5-8minutes 15 minutes before discharge!! My daughter advocated for herself and filed a formal complaint against Dr Jacob.. I will be filling a formal complaint with NYS.. from the moment you walk in the door of the facility the receptionist is scowling and clearly miserable rather than being a kind gentle face to greet you as your experiencing probably one of the most difficult decisions. Instead the receptionist and other staff stand in there gossiping about children in the facility for anyone and everyone to hear.. The food is horrendous. Staff has no problem putting the kids down even the ones as young as 11or 12.. if your child is polite they’re ignored you MUST ACT LIKE AN ANIMAL in order to get a staff members attention!! I believe their return rate is so low because the experience is SO HORRENDOUS the child will not EVER share the thoughts and feelings that got them there EVER again in fear of being sent back. In hindsight I’ve now been made aware that a local teen who did commit suicide had been a patient at RCPC!! Do your due diligence!! They paint a really pretty picture during admissions!!! Vomit and blood on the unit NO STAFF to clean nor do they give a damn. School is NON EXISTENT my daughters school faxed work that was NEVER given to her.. Crossword puzzles do not count as education!! My daughter befriended an 11yo girl and upon discharge this young girls parents had arrived to visit and my daughter was able to warn them they needed to request her daughter be moved to another unit that the same girl that just assaulted her was targeting their daughter as well and staff found amusement in it and would NOT protect her... I’m praying for that child’s safety... all levels are care are mixed-DANGEROUS DANGEROUS DANGEROUS!! Good luck, if you’re a person reading these reviews because your loved one needs a higher level of treatment, I was YOU... it is difficult, scary and overwhelming don’t be afraid to speak up MAKE SURE your child KNOWS they can and should advocate for themselves... I will do my best to expose the MANY & GREAT deficiency’s of this institution so no other child will suffer like mine did at a time she was seeking help. This is NOT a place a child will thrive.. The staff was wonderful the doctors were great and helped my son if i ever had to recommend this place i would and u have to be a part of ur childs plan and help them with ur child they are not miracle workers but they are professional and wonerful people

Horrible. My son was admitted and stayed nearly 3 months. Every time he had a crisis they called me to talk him down, defeats the purpose of having him in a psychiatric facility. The day they discharged him they told me they couldn't handle him after he had broken lights and got into a fist fight. Left the rest of our family to continue to struggle to help him get the proper treatment he needed. I would never send a flea off of a dog's rear end there.
