I ACTUALLY went through the process, completed the steps and my life, my families life and the well-being of my community are a thousand times better for it. The Staff is Great, The Doctors are Fantastic and the Nurses are some of the kindest Human Beings I'd ever met. I'd like to thank the Hospital for saving my life. Anyone who Rated 1 Star DID NOT follow the steps, DID NOT complete the process. Anyone who Rated 1 star is tragically lost and most likely still suffering, and that in itself is its own hell. God Bless this Facility and its Employee's. Would refer Family, Friends, Strangers and all those suffering in silence of aloud. There is Hope. This place is Hope.

Terrible nurses. Medication given has all but ruined my life. Don't go to Parkland, either. Unless you ABSOLUTELY have to, don't.

Please, please do not send your loved ones here. As someone who was administered into their adolescent program, this is one of the worst places you can send someone in a bad place. If you have a choice, avoid this hospital. The first of my complaints is easy to explain: As someone with dietary restrictions (that aren't very limiting, mind you) I received a broad spectrum of 3 different dishes during my stay of 19 days. The lack of care in the food department caused me to lose around 15lbs. Next, they will discharge patients who are ill-prepared to leave. The only exception to this is, of course, if the patient is more financially well-off, in which case they will keep you there for much longer than usual. I come from a financially blessed family, and I was kept in Hampstead for almost triple the recommended amount of time. However, for those in poverty, they'd often stay from 7-10 days, even in cases where the patient knew they weren't ready to be discharged when the time was up. The staff is also generally unfeeling and lacking in compassion. You'll find the odd staff member once per day that seems better than the rest, but it doesn't make the experience worth it.

It was the worse experience they treat me like it if was fault my son had sever autism Dr brown hardly return my calls and never got my discharge summary and case work parented to care after treating me with DCF because I was to afraid to bring my son home then my son had another breakdown and Hampstead would not take him the reason I gave a hard time at discharge which it was a LIE worse place please don’t send your children there they only care about how much they are getting paid from the insurance

About a year ago my 9 year old son was taken here due to a suicide attempt (he's diagnosed ADHD and autism). They supposedly billed the school district since he would be receiving schooling at the facility, as well as us. His first night there he had a violent episode that lasted about 3 hours. I received a report that night with the details (there was a lot of kicking, punching, biting, spitting, and yelling to the point he had to be restrained - this at the time was par for the course so I was not surprised). The off putting issue is during his discharge, this was not noted in detail and barely mentioned. When I questioned this, the nurse denied it being as severe as I was informed. She was the nurse that was on duty and who spoke to me that night. During intake we were told we would receive ample time and assistance from them to set up appropriate after care. This did not happen at all. We set up a check in call the Wednesday after he was admitted (which was on the previous Thursday) and they said they couldn't give us a definite discharge date but would give us ample time as we live 2.5 hours away and both myself and my partner work full time jobs. I called Thursday starting at 10am to speak with anyone if they had more details because I had to plan my work and his care around this. I called several times throughout the day and no one was available; not the doctor, or the social worker associated with the facility. I got a call just before 8am the next day saying he needed to be discharged ASAP because insurance wasn't paying for any time after that day. I tried to request his stay until the next day (Saturday) and I could be up there by 7am and she said this was no good as insurance would not pay for the extra time. The other concern was the "school" time. According to my son, they colored and did arts and crafts the entire time. I'm ok with this, but please don't inform me he would be doing actual class work the teacher faxed over and bill the school district. My son went in weighing around 60 lbs (he was almost 4 feet tall at the time so very lanky) and when we took him to the doctor after discharge weighed under 50 lbs. When asked what he ate, he said bread and water because all the other food was too seasoned or the texture made him gag (we informed them of his hypersensitive palate and texture issues and were reassured they had meals to suit this - I expected this to mean plain pastas, proteins, and vegetables but I was mistaken). The good part of his visit is he leveled out and they found a good medication for him. However, we did not receive any support from them for aftercare and his discharge information was not sent to us for several months (they gave us a very general overview at the time of discharge but sent a more detailed version that omitted a few of the episodes that were relayed to me by the staff throughout the 9 day stay). If you have another choice, please go for it. I do not recommend this facility to anyone unless they do not have another option.

Scamful, deceitful, unknowledgable, and incompassionate. I wouldn't even bring a dog here to euthanize it. If you want to be lied to, overcharged, illegally billed for medical services not administered, then this is the place for you.

This is the worst place you can send anyone, I would give this place no star review if I could they could literally do nothing for my little brother. My little brother is has severe autism and cerebra palsy and while he stayed there they gave him medication that pretty much made him catatonic. He was miserable tthere he lost at least 15lbs, he would roll around in his wheel chair just to look at a window. It broke my family down to see him the way he was, it was suppose to be a place for children to be helped instead I felt he was neglected. He had scratches on his body when he came home and we never knew the reason why. We took pictures for evidence and what not, hthey could literally do nothing for us. After he left the hospital was the best thing for his health mentally and physically. Do yourself a favor and never come here. I am disappointed and flabbergasted.

this was the last psych hospital i've been to- which was two years ago, so this might be outdated. but from my time there, it was fairly helpful. certain staff were absolutely incredible, and others... not so much. it's clean, which is a huge plus (i've been to some pretty unclean hospitals) and the caf food was pretty good. not the worst place you could go to get treatment.

This place is horrible please don’t send your kids there I put my daughter there for 2 nights few years ago i still feel traumatized when i remember how she looked when i went to visit after she spent 2 nights there her ete almost closed because if the herself harm which they should block to keep her safe and she didn’t eat for 3 days and there was ine elder man watching the 6 ir 7 kids who were there that time I still feel bad for not claiming them that time

My 12 year old spend 6 days at Hampstead for depression. During that time she experienced physical and emotional trauma, that the staff admitted could have been prevented and was a result of staff error. My child is worse off now than when she was admitted. I don’t know if the trauma she experienced will ever heal. This was our first experience with Hampstead and our last. Godspeed to any child staying there.

The one star is because they took my daughter outside, and because they fed her three meals a day, and that's the best thing I can say about this hospital. While she was there for depression and anxiety, they prescribed an antihistamine for anxiety so she would fall asleep instead of being anxious. They refused to change her antidepressant even though it wasn't helping. They prescribed medication to prevent self-harm and she continued to self-harm. They told me they were sending her home and I told them she wasn't ready as she was still talking about suicide. The response I got was that she wasn't getting along with another patient and they were afraid of an incident. When I called the nurse to discuss keeping her, she thanked me for calling as she needed to get home for her daughter's birthday. The social worker had in her notes that my daughter saw no reason to keep on living. She then talked to me about safety planning. The "care" at this hospital is a joke. They should call it daycare for depressed teenagers, because that's all it was. The "adults" in charge of the unit were barely older than teenagers themselves and acted like camp counselors. There was no therapy, group or otherwise. The kids sat around in groups chatting while the "adults" spoke to each other or observed. My daughter attempted suicide 4 weeks after being discharged. I found out that her medication has the interesting side effect of making her more suicidal, yet no one here told me that or tried to change her medication. There was no medication management. There wasn't even any treatment for her self-harm. I finally took my daughter over the boarder to MA. I do not recommend this facility to anyone, even pets!

Absolutely sh*t experience, do not go or send anyone here, ever! I went for exactly a week and it was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. The staff were uncaring and indifferent unless it gave them a reason to get after you about breaking the "rules", which would change every day. I being one of the only 18 year olds there during that week, got told off by the staff for sitting NEXT to another patient (17, who turned 18 in a month) with no physical contact being made might I add. The unit manager called us both aside and told us we were being "inappropriate" and needed to stop what we were doing. When we asked what we did that we should stop, he refused to elaborate and sent us back to the group. The next incident happened when I was trying to calm down another patient who was bashing their head into the wall as the staff stood by and watched, making no attempt to stop them. I came in to try to calm them down and we hugged and then I was reprimanded for that, then later forced into solitary confinement for it, under the accusation that I attempted to ask them for sex because of that! Absolutely insane. They told me I could either spend the remainder of my time there in solitary, or leave. So, I left, feeling twice as suicidal as I was when I came in. The only thing I learned was to make sure I don't fail next time I try to off myself. The chocolate milk was pretty good tho.
