I went to lakeland 2 times. I loved how nice the staff and clients. I ended up being friend with one of the clients there. We went to the same school. Shout out to her. There were a lot of codes called On 4 south but, 3 north was okay. I got a lot of help from Mr Mackie. Shout out to him.

This place gave me nightmares. It's almost like they want to imprison you. We had code green called on fourth floor all the time cause the staff can't handle kids. Oh yeah theifs everywhere don't leave shoes up there. Someone stole my nikes. Never were found. This place didn't help it made everything worse than it was.

We took our son there. He spent 8 days. Daily calls sometimes didn't go thru and I wanted to know everyday he was ok.thank you. I spoke to a psychiatric Dr. One time. The food wasn't enough and my son was hungry amd the food wasn't the best by far. They told us we would know 24 hrs in advance that they were discharging him but we didn't get 8 hrs advanced notice and its a 2.5 he drive from where we live. There was no clear diagnosis all they did for 8 days ended in him coming home medicated and an apt to set therapy and everything else up. Thats it???? So my child who,has never been away from me got no help just medicine. However the staff was kind while we spoke on the phone and in person. We also took our 5 yr old to visit and they hadnt notified us that they restricted visiting to 15 yrs or older. So after driving 2.5 hrs our 5 yr old wasnt allowed causing me to take him to the truck and let my older daughter and my husband to visit. This was after we dropped him off to admit him with our 5 yr old so they could have let us know. Disappointed and now going to,try and get him help in a more suitable better cleaner and better controlled environment to get the right treatment for his needs, not just medicine

Rating a zero should be an option. I sent my son here for help, because the social workers have so much power my name was dragged through the mud all the way up the ladder. I did everything I was asked and because the social worker didn't do her own homework when I reported back to her that she was wrong I was vilified. My son was released before he was stable twice. It's not about the kids there it's about the money end of story. He came home worse than when he left. This place should be shut down and every dept. Looked over there is not enough checks and balances.

My niece was admitted to Lakeland Behavioral Health on September 12, 2018. Like many people on here, I read the reviews and it made me physically ill. To say I was worried was an understatement. She was admitted on a Wednesday and that following Sunday, I made a visit to the facility to see her. I had read reviews about the cleanliness of the facility, that there were worms in the food, etc. However, after the visit, I actually felt much better. We met with her counselor who's name was Katie, who, in my opinion, truly cares about the patients and is concerned about their mental health. I was planning to write a review to calm other parents and caregivers that would naturally come to a sight such as this seeking information after their child was admitted. However, that all changed on Saturday, September 22, 2018. My niece called me crying and said she had been assaulted by another patient. She said she had been punched in the eye and was in a lot of pain. She had asked to be taken to an actual hospital (Lakeland is more of a "nursing home" type facility with nurses on staff but doctors only visit from time to time). They would not allow her to go to the hospital even though I requested it as well. I called the Springfield Police Department and an Officer Fedders went to the facility and took pictures of her injuries and requested that Sierra be allowed access to medical care, the staff at Lakeland denied their request. Later the next day a doctor who was at the facility due to a new admission did eventually see her and ordered an x-ray but this was nearly a full day after the assault had occurred. Not only was my niece denied medical care she was left on the same floor as her assailant and was expected to act as if nothing had happened. In addition, I would like to make known the fact that earlier in the day when I called to speak with my niece I was asked to give permission for the staff to administer Thorazine, I denied it and was placed on the phone with a nurse that explained there were some aggressive behaviors from some of the patients on the floor and while, my niece wasn't one of the aggressors, they were trying to avoid "a big code". The pictures below were taken nearly two days after the assault occurred, when she was discharged. If your child or loved one has been placed in the facility, fight for them, advocate, do what you can to either prevent them from going or to get them released.

My son was at lakeland behavior health system residential and he was there for 10 months and I give them a zero a kid had told staff that my son and 2 other kids where going to start a big fight with everyone and they where not going to do that and the 3 kids that where acused for it said they where not going to do that and the staff didn't believe the 3 kids but believed the 1 kid that had jus got in trouble so they gave my child and 2 other kids shots to go to sleep and that was in called for and they treated my son like a dog I say no to sending ur kids here

Besides the food being atrocious for anyone it was especially bad for me as a diabetic. They had to pump me full of insulin besides my metformin just to keep it in the 200s. So I suggest somebody get on the ball and get some experts in there that can make the food right for all the patients and have a special diet for diabetics. Other than that the staff was wonderful. I came in there barely able to get to the toilet. But you have a very good staff on that 4th floor and through their sweet ways I built my strength up and they remarked on it. Then before I knew it I was being hugged by other patients and that help them and me too. And we did some silly teasing me about things my daughter had said about me. But I got my strength up and was able after that to get free of my daughter's inability to see that it's often her that has the problem. I found a duplex two weeks after I was released from your hospital. That was if an angel came down and found what I needed. It happened in such a weird way but it happened and I know God was helping me. If you could would you print this for the 4th floor. I want them to know that their hard work does help others. And I'm one of them.

I had my daughter placed in Lake land. I have talked to the doctors, and they helped my child. This was 2 yrs ago. My child has been the best now at school. It is going on 2 yrs an she had done a huge turn around.

I would give them 0 stars but only have the option of 1. My niece was sent up there for suicidal tendencies. They kept her for 14 days 2 of which she was hospitalized which I now think was due to overdosing her on sedatives. When she came home it was 8:20pm and she was doped up so much she just went to bed. The next day she was worse than when we sent her up there for treatment. We had to call 911 because she was physically abusive to all family members. She is now at a different facility. I strongly urge you not to take your child here.

I went to this hospital when I was a teenager and the doctor there put me on 600mg of Trileptal twice daily even though it wasn't right for me and left me on the verge of overdose every day.The staff didn't seem to care and the main punishment was being put in scrubs. I would never put my child here. It took months to recover from the damages their medicine selection did to my nerveous system.

I would give 0 stars if possible. I worked here for a year and it was the worst time of my life. The staff spread terrible rumors about each other and steal patients items. The management is TERRIBLE at their jobs. They don't give breaks but don't want employees on their phone. The kids get little to no attention. They have ROACHES literally 3 to 4 inches long. The building is infested with black mold, the kids get sick from breathing it in through the heat and cooling. This place is money hungry and refuses to do repairs. The children do nothing to help them with treatment except for individual therapy once a week. The rest of the time is in school doing easy things. There are 12th graders doing multiplication and division and that are sharing a class room with 8 year olds. The whole system is corrupt there. Please for the Love of Jesus if you want your child/teen to get better, PLEASE DO NOT SEND THEM TO LAKELAND!!! As an employee and someone from the inside, this place is a death trap.

I was at Lakeland last year for almost a month. I was on 4S. Some staff was caring (Ms. Kim), some staff was not. As soon as you get there, they make you get naked to "check" you. I was wearing a hospital gown with nothing underneath, so that seemed very unnecessary and inappropriate. I was told I would go home in one week. I was there for nearly a month, give or take a few days. The first day is hard, the food was disgusting, a girl found a worm in her food. The floors are very dirty and there were roaches near the cafeteria entrance. There were so many fights every day and the staff handled it poorly. I was put on three medications, without my parents consent. They watch you shower and go to the bathroim. The water is always freezing cold. It was hard to get a toothbrush and they wouldn't let us have chapstick. They do rude things on purpose to test you. Some of the staff never got in touch with my parents until the day I could go home. The exercises they make you do are embarrassing and too personal. If you don't talk in group, you have to stay longer. You mainly color in group. I was allowed one book, I had no pillow and the staff at night were very rude. The entire month I was there, we never went outside, nor were there windows to look out. I wouldn't suggest sending your children here.

My 89 year old husband was here for 6 days and was transferred back to Mercy with chest pains. When they called me I got there before they called the ambulance to find him smelling badly . They had bathed him but one time. Because of the meds they had him on he could not care for himself. He had soiled underwear. I hand bathed him before they took him to Mercy. After I got him to a room he told me his foot was still hurting. He had an open sore on his ankle. Because they make the patients sit in a very small room for long periods of time, and will not allow them to nap in their rooms, he also had a sore bottom. His bed had a bottom sheet that you could read a newspaper through a top sheet and 1 thin blanket. I took blankets up there for him. It is cold the staff was wearing layers. I feel really bad for those patients who has no one to look out for them. I would not treat an animal like they are treated.

If I could rate this place a zero, I would. I am a licensed foster mother, and have recently received a 9 year old girl straight out of discharge. She was filthy, body smelled, hair oily, clothing dirty, teeth unbrushed. That was my immediate alarm. She was place on two medications, one of which turns her into a zombie. We are currently working with our own doctor to get this remediated. Still waiting for diagnosis and treatment plans two weeks later. In a loving, stable environment, it has become quite obvious that her issues certainly need counseling, but that are not even remotely out of control or alarming.

This place is a prison for kids. I did not like most of the staff, and can not trust them. They "give" them an allowance to teach them responsibility and they can spend it or save it and take it with them when they leave, well you better get it before you leave because they kept my son's. Just taught him that he can not trust the people who were suppose to be trying to help him. I would never send another child there. Check around before you send your child to this place.

Staff are very thorough and caring. My child is unstable, as are the other patients. I can't imagine trying to help 20 or more at one time. They have to be secure in order to provide the services they do, so that can seem a little "prison-like." Though the communication is a little jumpy - I had to talk with several different people and repeat some things - I appreciate that they want to know the details and the background in order to help my child and to help me. This isn't a resort. It is a psychiatric care facility. They provide what they are set out to do and are limited by certain circumstances, such as insurance companies. But they work with you to the best of their ability. I will continue to recommend this place, and if my child should happen to need to return, Lakeland is my first choice.

I sent my daughter here, thinking that she would get the help that she needed. Instead, she got the complete opposite. The staff are flat out rude, not only to me, but they talk to these kids and treat them horrible. My daughter felt worse than when she went in this place. And I'm not quite sure why they even have a "housekeeping" staff, because the place is filthy disgusting, and there are roaches. As soon as I read all of the terrible reviews on this place, which I should have done before sending my daughter here, I picked her up immediately. They called me her 3rd day here, to confirm starting her on her medication, but they never did. When I asked them why, they said they needed to confirm with me first, which they did. .. I called Sarah, the social worker three days in a row, and left voicemails, never got a call back. I also called Janie the therapist, 3 days in a row, but her voicemail was full, everyday, so I couldn't leave her a voicemail. So I asked the nurses station to please give those two ladies the message to call me, as her parent, I deserve to know what's going on with my child, and her progress. Never got a call back. My daughter wore the same clothes for 5 days, they never got washed. My aunt went to see her, and took her some food, the staff took it from her, and said that visitors can not bring them food, So my daughter asked for a dinner tray, and she never got one, everyone else did though. So as my daughter and I were walking down the stairwell to leave, she informed me that they took the food my aunt brought her, and never gave her a dinner tray. So I went right back up there, and asked them why she didn't get a dinner tray, and they said because I showed up, which was a lie, because she asked for it way before I showed up. Then the nurse asked me if I would like the mcdonalds that they took from my daughter, THREE HOURS BEFORE I GOT THERE!!! DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN TO THIS PLACE FOR HELP!!!! Monday morning I will be on the phone, reporting this disgusting place, and their unprofessional, ignorant staff. And I don't know why they bother setting a password for your child, because they leave the book open for the kids to see it, so my daughter knew her password. She also overheard a nurse telling another co-worker that she would never send her own child there. No, it's not a resort, but insurance has absolutley NOTHING with how disgusting this place is, and how rude and unprofessional the staff are. Insurance also has NOTHING to do with the fact that once your child is in this place, they WILL NOT RETURN YOUR CALLS.

This was the worst place we could have sent our daughter for help! We never spoke with a doctor. They never discussed what their thoughts were on why our daughter was having her problems. They even had her sign herself out BEFORE her father arrived to pick her up. They never responded to her doctor, at home, when he would call or email requesting updates or to speak with their on call doctor. Sadly, my daughter came home with additional issues and was worse off than when she was admitted. I am very unhappy and even more concerned about my daughter because of the lack of support Lakeland provided. I would not recommend sending your child to this facility. You run the risk of your child having more issues and more hurdles to overcome.

I admitted my son here for acute care. He is 7 years old. I had thought of continuing with long term treatment until the unthinkable happened. His therapist called to do family therapy and told me she discussed with my son what would happen if he continues his behavior. She told me he would end up in foster care or residential treatment for life. Keep in mind I'm a 17 year veteran of law enforcement specializing in child abuse sexual assault and juvenile law. My 7 year old was previously diagnosed with learning disabilities and receptive expressive language disorder. He does not process language like that of his peers. I went for a visit after this therapy session and my son was very anxious and depressed. He told me he's going to live in a foster place and he would never see me or his family again. Yes I flipped!!! During that visit I heard a commotion in the next room. I heard the tech say to a little boy "you tried to bite me" then I heard him groan in pain and she said " how'd you like that". I was in comete shock. My son was released smelling horrible . They took his shoes and couldn't find them so no shoes to leave in. The little boys there were all horribly filthy. Never send your child to this place. It's awful!!!!

I was 10 when I was placed here. They said you can see your family if your good, that doesn't work I went 2 weeks without seeing my family, cause they lied to my mom. They locked me in time out when I first got their they said it was for their safety. The time out is a padded room with a magnet on the door that can only be opened with a key.

Awful place. Covered in bugs. Absolutely no good decent place to sit during visitation. We sat in the floor. I was the patient. When i left i couldn't even dress myself due to all the medication i was precribed! I was 14 now 20 and still scared and worried about the children here

I hated it so much I lied about being ok just to go home .I got more help from the kids I met there than the groups themselves. The food is Like the bottom of Poseidon’s foot for gods sake I hated it . This made me hungry more than half the time .Do better ,but that’s besides the fact that I was constantly yelled at one time I was sent into a full panic because of being lectured so many times . Beware: Lakeland is desperate for people to work here yet treat their employees terrible. They threaten employees with their job with a ridiculous point system if they call in sick or go home sick. They over work staff which is never good in a psychiatric, mental health situation. They allow workers to work 16 hour shifts in this high stress environment. Many employees treat the patient and co-workers in an extremely toxic manner. The environment in this facility is unhealthy and does not put the youth's needs first. This is a hospital for victims and mentally ill patients yet the environment is not therapeutic. Employee turnover is extremely high with very low employee retention. Many judges, GLA's and social service agencies refuse to send clients here due to the extremely volatile environment.

Patients deteriorate instead of improving, trapped in an environment reminiscent of a joyless prison. The staff endures mistreatment while their inept supervisors struggle under corporate mismanagement. Despite emphasizing profit, corporate consistently implements harmful changes, directly impacting both the employees' well-being and the company's bottom line. Lakeland's misguided policies breed despair, creating a toxic cycle of suffering for all involved.

Lakeland is a horrible facility for staff and more importantly the kids. It is not result driven it I'd money driven. As long as there is a body in a bed they're happy. Upper management is useless. PLEASE SEND YOUR LOVED ONES ELSEWHERE
