Horrible! As a parent, I can say they only made my daughter's anxiety worse. Her doctor had made an exception for me to bring her siblings. We drove there, checked in, and was almost in the unit. A young lady stopped us and informed me we could not enter. I explained that the doctor placed a special order so we could see my daughter. The young lady went to speak with the Charge Nurse and came back to tell me we would not be allowed and would need to leave. My daughter was standing in her doorway crying hysterically, as she watched us denied entry. At this point, I approached the Charge Nurse and explained that the doctor had approved it, thinking she misunderstood the messages the young lady was relaying. The Charge Nurse, Martha Sanderson, was extremely rude and told me we would not be entering. I used an explaetive and Martha was asked if I needed security. I replied I didn't, but if she felt she needed them she could call them. I then asked if she was going against a doctors orders. She stated she was. I said, "Wow! I have never seen a nurse capable of overriding a doctor!" Here comes security. A male coworker of Martha's stepped away and called. The guard asked me to calm down so other kids do not get upset. I explained what had happened. Martha then said, "Well, let me pull her chart and check her orders." I said, "So, you keep tell me no but you have not checked her chart!?" Martha then rolled her eyes at me. Please picture a lady in her 70's, grey hair, rolling her eyes. It was quite comical! Of course I had something to say, "Martha, did you just roll your eyes at me? This is funny, someone twice my age rolling their eyes at me. So professional!" She then smirked and said, " Nope, there arent any orders in her file." The guard informed me would have to go downstairs and wait. We walked away. Then, the young lady came running after us. She said, "The order was found in her file. I'm so sorry." I explained to the young lady it was not her fault and no need to apologize, someone else owed the apology. We went on in and tried to enjoy a ruined visitation. My daughter was sad and crying most of the time we were in there. Crittenton is supposed to help the kids, but this truly broke my daughter's heart. The doctor had told her to expect her siblings and me, so she was extremely excited. Then, for her to see us, but then see us walk away with security only upset her. I feel if Martha had done her job to begin with, this would have never happened. Martha was too lazy to pull the chart up on her computer to see if I was telling the truth. Instead, Martha got my daughter worked up, which made Mama Bear come out in me. It took her a matter of seconds to find the orders. On a positive note, the security guard was very professional and did a wonderful job. I appreciate his demeanor during the whole situation. Kudos to you, Sgt Young!

My little sister was sent here due to running away and doing drugs. LET ME TELL YOU THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR TROUBLED CHILDREN!!! The staff allowed her not ONCE BUT TWICE to run from their facility! The first time she was found pretty quick the second time she was missing for months!!! We had no idea if she was okay and she was possibly sucked into drug trafficking. Bottom line is DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE WITH YOUR CHILD!!!!!

I was cursed at by a staff member. I was forced to stay in a unit of young children because “they didn’t have enough space for me”. The staff were incredibly rude. Nothing was helpful. All we did was watch movies that had nothing to do with treatment. We also had to write papers 3 times a day about unrelated topics. I was not given my meds until my end of my stay. The doctors were unhelpful.

My son had to stay here for a short time because he was hurting himself, attacking other, and hallucinating. During his stay I found the staff to be friendly and even got to where they knew sound of my voice and would have to go o yeah I need your pin number when I called to check/ talk to my son (which was a lot all day everyday). Now on the other side I did find it a bit depressing that every visit they were watching Annie or inside out ( but the kids were having so much fun having a sing along with staff it kinda made it better). Other than that my biggest complaint would be I came for his daily visits bringing him ice cream and when I got there he had hives on face when I told nurse she said she was curious because he had been throwing up and no one ever notifien me. I asked for some Benadryl for him and to speak with nurse because parents should be notified when their 10yr old id puking and sick. She came quickly apologized and gave him medicine for hives. O and one time they did call me was because he had flipped off a parent there which is a nice thing he learned from his roommate while on his stay. He was only there a short time but honestly he has been doing great ever since and still sees his therapist the recommended yrs later and loves her. So even though there were bad which every place has they got my son regulated by bringing in his personal psychiatrist and doing what he said and back to us there for I will give four stars and say thank you.

After reading reviews on this place we were extremely apprehensive. However, our experience was great. Every single staff member was amazing. They are all dedicated to the children they help. Special thanks to Miss Trish and Mr. George!

I have been to this hospital three times for suicide attempts between 2014-2017. I have a few experiences but heres some that stuck out; I was threatened by a staff member that if I touched a younger kid on the unit I slept on I would be in big trouble, they told me this because I'm bisexual. Which I was moved rooms and had to keep my door open right next to the staff table when a room opened up for the same reason. I was laughed at by the staff for being very attached to a stuffed bear. I remember very clearly them saying, "How could someone like you like stuffed animals?" On the night of my third stay I was having a panic attack because I was scared to be back there and the staff sat and watched me cry and talked about just leaving me in the bathroom to sleep if I didn't stop. This place never helped me and now looking back I do not recommend sending your children to this hospital. Along with my own experience, other reviews are not lying. PLEASE if you want your child to get help DO NOT send them here.

I am going to write this as close to as I can remember. I went here the spring of 2015, riddled with anxiety, depression and feeling suicidal. I remember every minute of it. As many reviews have stated, and no, they are not exaggerating, the staff poked fun at these kids, as if their situations weren't serious. They straight up demeaned their situations. One girl during a group session explained how her mother was physically abusive and she couldn't take it anymore so she defended herself. The staff replied with "You are the child, you need to respect your mother." and so on. I was afraid to speak because every single kid who spoke got cold responses from the staff, about how their illness were their fault, rather than giving coping advice and overall comfort and hope. When asked about what happened that made us happy that day, a girl responded with "I made new friends!" the staff member responded with "Ok you are not here to make friends, you are here to learn how to deal with your illness. You are not supposed to talk to the other girls, that is not what your parents are paying us for." They also make you write a page of how you felt that day or the ~lesson~ you learned. I basically just faked it out because if you didn't fill the WHOLE page they took a point away. I cried almost every day in that hospital. The staff took points from me because I wasn't getting "better", you can also get points taken away for not doing their art projects, yoga, watching their movies, ect. One day I had a horrible anxiety attack. They held me down on my bed (which were rock hard, I had back aches for about 2 weeks) and forced me to drink benadryl until I passed out for a couple hours. I was held way longer than I should have been because I was crying all the time, even though crying is healthy. One staff member told us that she is done dealing with us for the rest of the day, she was ready to go home to get her paycheck. I tried to tell my mom what was going on over the phone, but I saw a staff member pick up a phone on the other side of the room to listen to our conversation, so I could barely speak. Another staff member scolded me for being "passive aggressive". I was 14 at the time and didn't really understand what that meant, I barely spoke at all out of fear, maybe she took that as being passive aggressive, but it was still childish for the staff member to make that accusation. I longed to get out of that place, I realized how much I was taking for granted on the "outside world". The drive home was probably one of the most happiest days of my life, the ability to be free again had me overjoyed. Sorry about the long paragraphs, theres much more to this story but I feel bad for already writing all this out. Please. Don't send your children to this hospital. I hope the staff has changed by now. The therapists were pretty helpful though.

I highly recommend this place if you are out of options and just completly lost.This place is a great start and will guide you in the right direcrion while they do a lot of one on one time with your child to help them reach thier goal.great staff and great therapists.they all work very well with your child helping them with coping skills and being able to express themself in a positive manor.It definitely makes a parent feel good to call your child and says she's happy! She liked group and she was able to have time to do things and also got rewarded for her good behavior.thank you for helping us in the right direction

The showers are really cold and small, they don’t teach u anything! Their staff wasn’t nice they put me on restart for an “inappropriate topic” but I was sitting alone coloring with stupid markers so YOU GUYS were the ones who made me depressed. I didn’t like getting my blood drawn it left a bruise. I lost 5 pounds over there food! We watched to many movies. This one girl went out of control and we had to stay in are rooms for like an hour, they aren’t good and coming them down!

I have been there 5 times and they said if I had to go there again I would be put in residential which is where you have to stay there for like 2-3 months and I feel like it sort of helped me but I still am kind of shaky of what happened to get me there the last time. I've been out for a little over a month and I've gotten better. I'm just afraid if I make a tiny little mistake it will be all over for me. I would like to forget about everything that was bad in my life, but I can''t. So I'm in therapy and trying to get better. I just don't want to ever have a nightmare about Crinnetton ever again. And if your on Unit 10 your lucky. I don't know if Ms. Kyle is still working there but she is really nice but you can't be going around cursing at anything you want. So I hope that this message is somewhat meaningful to you I'm not sure because well I'm not you so yeah. And if you agree to any of the things that I have minsionned then reply back if you don't agree with anything that's okay just don't be posting anything rude online because that just proves your a coward to say it to my face and it might get you sent back there. So please be careful of what you say verbally and non-verbally. And sorry if I didn't spell some things correctly MY BAD!! Staff was super friendly and helpful. Didn't throw a bunch of meds at my loved one. Counselor Josh is great. Nusre I talked with at release was wonderful. Good clean facility! I would definitely recommend Crittenton!!!

My daughter has been there four months. This is her third residential stay. We have seen great improvement and a decrease in undesirable negative/aggressive behaviors. Her case manager has been great to work with. I would recommend this facility.

Worst place to send your kids. I was in this hospital in unit 8 twice at the beginning of 2015 for depression, an eating disorder, and suicidality. "Highlights" of my stay include: seeing the techs make fun of kids who self harm, being yelled at for not disclosing my eating disorder the first time I was there, not making sure kids with eating disorders can't throw up their meals, forcing us to stay in our rooms for most of the day, forcing us to write out a page on a random subject every day. Also, they have this points system where if you act out (i.e.: annoying the staff, crying, etc), they'll take points away which makes you have to stay longer. They also force you to tell other patients in a group why you're there every day, even if it's extremely personal. So, if you love your children, don't send them here.

When I went into the hospital. I had severe depression. I was suicidal. However this hospital is not suited for teens with depression. This is a hospital for teens who are violent and act out. The staff is able to handle more situations with violent kids rather than depressed. When I was there, there was a day I was feeling very down and I did not want to come out of my room because I was crying all the time. Next thing I know a staff member is pouring cold water on me, yelling at me to get up and removing my bed from the room. I did not get my bed that night and ended up sleeping on the wood that was underneath my mattress. I am not saying this because I was 13 and put in a place that I didn't want to be. I have been to other hospitals, and they have helped. This one is just meant for kids with behavioral issues. Not suicidal thoughts. I am 16 now and looking back on it, I do not see how it helped me at all. I would also like to add that all these posts talking about how they watch you shower and everything. Sometimes it is true. They watch you shower. They have had to do it for me. But this is because they do have some people with different situations. It's for safety reasons. Some people do try to hurt themselves while in there. And the food, I stayed in their residential part of the hospital for a month and I ate that food every day. The food is nutritional. If you have an allergy they make different food for you. They don't nessisarily serve what you want but it's a hospital, not a hotel. They don't want you to like it.

Horrible experience; the staff are too strict and only into having you follow the rules, not actually getting better. All you have to do is act a certain way and you'll get out in a few days. Don't believe if they tell you you'll only be there for 3-6 days. The average stay is 5+, and that's only if you have good behavior.

Less then one star is what this place deserves. If you are wanting help, you need to seek it elsewhere. My daughter admitted herself into this center because she wanted help. The staff belittled the patients and did absolutely nothing to help. (Unless being stuck in a room with "Welcome to Hell" written on the walls, being told you are retarded because you are trying to get help counts as "help") This "help" may be fine for kids that are in the "system" but it is def not geared towards anyone who actually wants help with their issues. We filed a grievance with the hospital which wasn't taken seriously, even though we were the fourth family in that weekend to file a grievance. I believe this place has actually made my daughters depression worse as she no longer trusts doctors to help her and will not seek help from any facility again. On another note, their billing department is about as competent as a group of 3 year olds. They have no idea how billing works at all. Only after they can't find you in their billing system, even though you have a bill in hand, you are not able to pay. Finally they found us and was able to make payment arrangements. Then they quit sending the bills all together and I would have to consistently take time to call (they never returned calls in a timely manner) long distance from work! This place is hands down the worst business I have ever dealt with. I am completely shocked it is a part of Saint Lukes Health System.

I took my daughter here because her behavior got so bad if she didnt get her way she would hurt her self or others. She is only 6 with severe adhd. When i went to pick her up after she spent a week in that nasty place i was so mad. Its like living in prison. Your told when to read, eat, go to the bathroom, watch tv, and your told what you can wear out of the clothes packed for you from family.. Ill never let my kid go back to that place for anything!!!!!!!! I called to talk to her and they always told me she was busy and hung up

I was at crittenden center when it was down by the plaza they built a embassy suites hotel across the street Dr. Grace Ketterman I believe was the director or whatever my counselor was russ shandrasky I was sexually abused there it was for the birds you were shot in the buttocks with thorazine and locked in a room with nothing but a mattress if you were lucky the light was on the outside there was a peeperhole in the door they could watch through there was a chapel that had closet doors with little cabinets above them the west wing the east wing I escaped from there just hours after being taken there they took my clothes locked me in a room I described already made me take pills of thorazine they called me Houdini they locked all the girls in the chapel looking for me including in those tiny cabinets Russ would take you to his office and make you perform oral sex on him he said if you told anyone he would make your life a loving hell I mean away from there DO NOT EVER SEND OR PUT YOUR CHILDREN THERE THEY ARE THE LOWEST ON THIS PLANET
