I was here for fifteen days. The counselor I was signed to meet with me irregularly, wasn't there when I needed her and would rarely go over assignments that I had. The house got wrapped up in a lot of drama and staff didn't know how to deal with it. Techs also didn't seem like they really cared about clients and again my counselor didn't seem like she cared about me. Food was adequate. I liked the craft and DBT groups the best. One thing to be noted is how when there was a bat that came through the house, the tech on duty didn't do her job to get the bat out and it was up to clients to do so. It also seemed like the techs weren't properly trained in disk diagnosis which I think mental health and substance use go hand and hand.

I was a client here and I was horrible and hated every minute and disagreed with everything....however I learned things while I was there and I have to say.... I hated it which today tells me that it was the BEST PLACE FOR ME TO BE!~ I also now agree with 110% of the ridiculous little things I didn't think were relevant to anything. I am 17 months clean and I would like to say thank you to Christine who was an intern there when I was there. I thought she hated me and had it out for me because she was short, to the point, and direct and now I realize she saw thru me. I was given the opportunity to leave treatment and I believe relocate to another facility because I was searching very hard for a reason to get them in trouble reason to have them be wrong about me. I stayed another week before the county decided they spent enough on someone who didn’t want to be there and I was discharged against medical advice but my judge had to accept it. I was so sick I thought I had won the war. I didn’t realize that the county wasn’t going to invest money in someone they think is beyond help which means eventual death for me. Christine took the time to talk to me then about what my choice said to her and she gave me encouraging words and I won’t ever forget her and how just the presence of who she was caused me to search for a way to be like her. She was around my age but she had serenity and peace in life around her and within herself.She knew and accepted herself. She was working and helping others and one of my inspirations and role models. -Thanks Christine if you ever see this. Katie R. Penny and Heidi- I will never forget you either! Your spectacular I was one of hundreds you had you were two women that were there when I began this journey in 2008.

When I graced the floors of the house Imy small grout counselor tormented me on a minute by minute basic. The 30 day rehab program I had an amazing experience at had not been to The Gables in the longest time to review. The staff kept telling me to do it there way re a chronic illness I had lived with and fully understood since I was 18 months old. I’m now 23 although I knew they were horriblly wrong and of course I almost died because I did it there way. The next day they called my mom and told her she had an hour to get me and she was told to bring me to the doorstep of a homeless shelter called The Dorothy Day Center? My mom and older brother when they arrived were told I was going to relapsed, which I had no clue about. I was kicked out of my family house and my father told my mother she should have left me at the homeless shelter. Months llater when the former director of The Gables whould not give my parents there money back telling them we are waiting for for the ambulance bill I said to my mother The Gables does not get the bill, my medical insurance gets the bill!!! Just so everyone knows my family makes sure donations go towards Hazelden! I remember one time when on shutdown my family was coming and I was told I had to bring a friend? Do you think my family would bring me to drug’s & liquid? When I was there they did not trust the cook in the kitchen who definitely appeared to be innocent!!! When I was released I was not allowed to defend what they made me do. I was just had to sit and listen and watch what I called the “Dream Team” make false statements and if would attempt to tell the truth I was forcefully and loudly told to shut the ______ up!!! And sit down. I am Therapeutic Recreation Specialist and had always planned when I achieved at least four years sobriety and you work with addition staff in a professional sense. The Gables staff when I was there did not know the importance of being able to work with the team and client!!! Today as long as I take it a day at a time I hope to achieve 29 years on March 24,2024 !!! I can’t remember I met an individual in sobriety who dated a dear friend and informed me about being a staff member at The Gables driver maybe and enlightened. My mood saying every staff member I had encountered and been horrified and emotionally abused by which was proven was fired. I pray for there happiness and ask god if he can please forgive every single one of them. Especially the those who endangered my life. I recorded every single word of this and if one word is missing I will call my attorney and take action. Do not at anytime release my first last or middle name. If you The Gables or any of your followers release any of my personal information I will have my lawyer take action!!!
