Hazelden truly changed my life. I now work with guys who need help and Hazelden is always helpful and understanding. It's no wonder that they are the number one facility for addiction. Two years sober and could not be happier with my decision to go to Hazelden.

Amazing place with amazing accommodations. The staff is incredible-therapists, nurses, and doctors. The best of the best when it comes to treatment centers in my opinion. The rooms are spacious & the way it is set up, it is like having your own room. They also have a great rec center with a full gym, pool, and basketball courts. Meetings are offered every night-both AA and NA. There are also 3 beautiful scenic trails, great for walking and clearing your head. Definitely recommend Hazeldon to anybody looking for the best of the best!

I was a patient at Hazelden for a couple weeks until they turned me away at my greatest time of need. My aunt worked in an adjacent program to the one I was attending and she felt 'uncomfortable' with me being in the same building, so against my counselor's wishes--the higher-ups at Hazelden kicked me out of the program. There is too much detail to write in a short review, but quite simply the head of the program, Terry Hayden, made a decision that very drastically went against all the tenets they preach about recovery. And then my aunt breached confidentiality and told many other relatives about my time at Hazelden. After this, Hazelden still continues to solicit me for money! This is a greedy organization that says one thing in their literature, but does not practice what they preach. Additionally, their success rate is very low and I found long-term lasting recovery without them. Don't believe the platitudes. Avoid Hazelden at all costs!

hands down the best treatment center I've been to..the staff (from nurses & doctors to theraputic folk) are knowledgeable in all areas of addiction, and help you get your life back. if you want to get sober, this is the place to do so. their family program changes lives.

All this place cares about is money. I know at least 15 people who went here that it didn't help. Their success rate is NOT good! My son went here and his counselor told me he was going to die! One of the head counselors yelled at my son, degraded him, and belittled him in front of his whole group. My son's group was horrified. When I called head staff to complain I was never contacted back. But they continue to send mail asking for money!!! Most of the families in our family group said they would NEVER come back here. They said it was a sham. Many of the things they do are peer lead. So you are paying other people to do your therapy. There are some good staff here. But there is also a high turn over rate. The bad things that go on here are completely ignored . There are many places in Minnesota that do a far better job than than this place. They do a much better job for half the money. My son us still alive 8 years later.

I was a active addict when I started here and this place is great I learn how to live a sober life because of hazelden Betty ford and I can say the consoler i had never gave up on me and pushed me to better myself. Since I spent time getting sober thanks to hazelden I'm grateful to say there one of the best because I'm 2yrs and 5mths sober thanks to them I would highly suggest hazelden if you prefer someone you know needs help

This place is beautiful. The only reason I leave 4 stars is because of how incredibly difficult it is to find anything as a visitor. It was very frustrating trying to figure out the closest place to park in -3degree weather with bad wind outside. Not fun to walk around trying to figure out where to go. Wish the signs were more clear.

This is my favorite location in the world. I learned so much about myself that I didn't know previously and wouldn't have learned on my own. I was in the worst place of my life and Hazelden showed me how to put myself back together and continue on in life sober and happy. Sure, there are going to be bumps in the road, but Hazelden taught me how to handle life. Do yourself a favor and completely give up what you were doing in your addiction trying to climb out yourself and immerse yourself into their care and teachings. Without Hazelden I would not be here. I don't leave reviews often but this place saved my life!! Only thing I wish could have happened differently was my counselor was not for me and I wish I could have switched but I've been to several inpatients and this was by far the best place I've been too.. I got hung up in the Florida scandals and I'm so blessed to have made it out of there alive to be able to be sent to hazelden by my family.. which insurance didn't cover but they worked with my family financially!! I now live in St. Paul and do outpatient and am sober and rebuilding my life bc Hazelden really taught me about the solution that I'd been pretending to ply for years..!! So thankful for this wonderful place and the staff and most importantly the fellowship I met there.. I met my sisters there who will forever be in my life and give me a home feeling I had been searching for, for so long ❤️

Hazelden is not a place to be successful, my son went there,one of the counselors told me he was going to die so I should prepare myself. Another counselor degraded and embarrassed him twice in front of all of his peers. I called both of their supervisors,but no call back. So I called the head of Hazelden. Again no response. I called and left messages several times,but no one responded. I have known several people who have gone to Hazelden only to relapse after they got out. Hazelden is archaic in there way of treatment,and they have a very high relapse rate. Because of their arrogance they refuse to change staff or their programing. Do not waste your money here. Spend it wisely else where. I have helped 9 young adults to sobriety through other treatment centers, not one was successful that went to Hazelden. Other family members in the family program, were very disappointed also. Hazelden holds onto famous peoples names so others will be impressed. Don't let this fool you! You will find greater success elsewhere! Good Luck to you!

Violated my hippa by telling my loved ones what I should have been given the chance to tell. Was treated horrifically by staff. For goodness sake don't let them keep you there because they will depending on how long your insurance gives them money, like most rehabs but this one is particularly bad because of the way you're mentally abused. Everyone's relapsed who I was there with and I'm pretty sure it's a lot to do with ptsd this place causes patients, that's what they are patients and human beings this place treats people like cattle they plough through, at their worst time. It's disgusting. Never send your loved one here or go here. They also lie about therapy. There is no therapy, at all, they set random alarms off in the middle of the night. It's the most depressing place I've ever been and seen and I'm pretty sure they're responsible for Robin Williams death as he went here right before committing suicide. They need to be sued!

My mother went there. It was evident that it was peer driven with little help from staff at times. On a 1 hr visit I saw so much drama between patients I thought I was in an episode of intervention. People do swear by it however.

Maybe I was 1 out of thousands but my intake was mixed up with some person who's addiction were many, but not mine,which was 1.(never found out because I left there just as addicted as when I got there) so some $28000. out of my own pocket. Though out the "rehab" I was constantly told I'm in denial. I never found out of the mix up until after I left. The facility acknowledged in written the mixed up intake. But refused to let me go through the program again. His addition smoking, alcohol and I believe opioids. I did nit smoke, did not drink at all nor use opioids. I had sadly got addicted to crack cocaine. So much for individual treatment for the individual needs. It ruined my 20 Year marriage. lost access to my 3 daughters I failed the program. It took me years after to overcome my addition. The $28000. I paid was the last money I had. I was left homeless after that. I challenge Hazelton to Deny this. They are 1st a money machine thats their First priority. 5 years & 3 months ago, I got on a plane and left NYC for MN. I wash addicted to heroin and crack at the time. I spent a total of 56 days at Hazelden and my only regret is that I didn’t stay longer. I loved it. I felt comfortable and heard and they took my co -existing disorders extremely seriously. They grounds were beautiful and I made lifelong bonds. This place quite literally saved my life.

I heard from a good friend of mine how Hazelden saved his life and how he turned his life around by going there. Now he is living drug free for 7 months and he won’t stop talking about it. Whole time I have been battling my addiction of Perc 30’s and how I wish I could go to the same place he did but due to my background it’s impossible I come from a poor family of refugees and I never had any of the help he had. I am an only child while he has 4 brothers and 3 sisters who all work at high level jobs to help him I only have my mom I would’ve had my dad to help but he was killed. My insurance is shit because it’s state provided (which means they don’t help) so only option I have is which ever place accepts my insurance and so far in having a hard time finding places that do. One thing I learned in America is if anything is free then it’s not helpful and you won’t get the same level of care as a person paying for his treatment. Only thing I can do is put my trust in god and try to quit with the little help I can receive from my insurance and pray to god it works because I have a mother who wants me around because she has nobody else if I die. So since I can’t afford Hazelden the next best option is the free treatment centers that don’t really seem to help people but just take government money to keep people like me addicted
