My eight year old daughter was dragged by a horse this past Saturday and I brought her in to get checked out. The staff was absolutely amazing! They took the time to listen to my daughter's and my concerns and made it as painless as possible to check my daughter's injuries out. They took the time to explain everything to my daughter and calmed her fears. I cannot express enough thanks to the staff for the care they provided!

I brought my son into ER here due to the main hospital being overflowing with ER Patients. We were greeted with smiles and helpful people from the get go; the people there made us feel special from the front desk to the intake to the night nurses (Danny) to the informative and caring doctor. We had the individual attention that we needed with our crisis situation. They listened and took care of us as quickly as they could. It is not the newest, largest building and the bright shiny facade was not there but the caring people made all the difference and this will be my location of choice (god forbid) with the next occurence. Thank you!

I have told my Family Doctor to put on my record, that I seriously do not want to go the Saint Lawrence Hospital for any reason. Yes, I know that they are close to my home. I hve already gone there many times for Different reasons. I can't say anything good about the experience.The environment, the employees, the cafeteria,etc :-( All I know for sure is I don't want to DIE THERE. I DON'T CARE IF I DIE IN THE no in route to another Hospital. That suits me just fine. I have paid my dues at Saint Lawrence... I 'm finished. I wish that they would demolish the whole thing AND stat Fresh. I wish that Sparrow would wake up and see this. REALTY ! I'm sorry... No Recommendations

I was recently in the St. Lawrence ER with my mother. She was in extreme pain and was left on a gurney in one of the ER rooms for TWO hours before anything was done to help her. I repeatedly had to track down the staff (nurses mostly, but I also had to track down the doctor) to even get her a cup of water. When I arrived at the ER, I was told that they needed to get a urine sample before they could give her meds. No one had done anything to take her to the rest room to get the sample. I asked for a wheel chair and they finally brought one. After that, the RN tried twice to start an IV unsuccessfully. They finally sent in another nurse who got it started. BUT, the prior nurse had taken the pain medication with her and they had to track her down in order to administer the meds! When we finally did find her, she could not have cared less about my mother. She never smiled, never asked if she could get something for her. Nothing. Then there was more waiting. I had to remind them to take her for a CAT scan. After they took her for the scan, she was very thirsty, but we were told no water until the scan was read. The doctor finally came in and said, "Wow! No wonder you're hurting. You broke three ribs." This was FIVE hours after she arrived. Of course, I had to go remind the nurses that my mom would now like some water. They had no idea that the scan had been read and made no attempt to help me get water for her. They just pointed at the water dispenser. Then, the doctor said my mom needed to be checked by the respiratory therapist. That took another hour, and when I mentioned the long wait the respiratory therapist (who was actually very sweet and seemed like she really cared) she said she had JUST been paged. Wow! I was born at Sparrow Hospital. There's a wing named after my grandfather, Richard Foster. My dad served on the board for 12 years. I cannot believe the uncaring attitude of the ER nurses and other staff. Why don't they care? Didn't they go into medicine to help people? I get better service at McDonald's. I really hope that someone at Sparrow/St. Lawrence reads this and pays attention to how patients are treated in their ER. I feel sorry for patients who were there without anyone to help get them some water. They'd die of thirst before any of the nurses would bring them some.
