I would not have been able to get clean if it weren't for this place. Most of the staff are also recovering addicts so they understand. The food is amazing and there are plenty of healthy options. As for the negative reviews- do not let them deter you from admitting yourself. I almost let them steer me away and thank God I did not. This place saved my life. Recovery takes work. I suspect that the negative reviews are from people who expected to be magically cured just from going. No. They give you the tools for recovery and offer a safe environment to detox and sort out the emotions that we have been masking with drugs for so long. But it takes willpower and hard work. I could not manage the withdrawals at home. I needed this place and I highly recommend it.

Brighton’s staff are superb. Mileu techs, therapists, nurses, doctors, often have first hand experience with addiction and decades of sobriety so they’re able to have meaningful connections with the patients. Unfortunately, the program is extremely expensive and run like an assembly line. If you take the excellent staff out of the equation, you’ll realize that patients are in-and-out like planes at an airport. Insurance companies have a lot to do with this, but treatment centers like Brighton have the responsibility to fight back and lower costs, allowing patients an adequate amount of time in treatment. I’ve heard patients say that the halfway houses actually hinder their sobriety more than help. The incredible staff made me realize that I need to wake up considering the consequences of my addiction. Brighton needs to wake up too.

UPDATE: After posting this, and getting a response from the Ascension Michigan Community Manager, I finally received my first letter from Arbor Professional... It's pretty obvious that they are going back and trying to cover up for the fact that they never once attempted to contact me. I still don't have any verification stating that they will rectify what was put on my credit report. The damage is done! Original Post: What a horrible experience with billing! After paying thousands of dollars out of pocket, on top of the thousands my insurance company had paid, they turned me over to Arbor Professional Solutions (formerly Ann Arbor Credit Bureau) for a total of $293.86. This ended up on my credit report (which is how I found out about it in the first place). No one from Brighton Center for Recovery or Arbor Professional attempted to reach me by phone and they could not (or would not) provide proof that they attempted to send me any letters. When I reached out, they were very rude, and not helpful. I just wanted to pay my bill, and get it off my credit report. They could have had their money, if they just wanted to provide a little help and assurance that this would be corrected. I know how this sort of thing works, and it makes sense why Arbor Professionals did not attempt to reach me. They didn't think the 50% or 60% of $293.86 was worth their time, so they just threw it on the credit report and moved on. This is not how you do business with people who have paid you so much money. It was a small remaining balance, and I would gladly have taken care of it. I still would, if I knew that it was going to be taken off my credit report. Ascension should stop letting Brighton Center for Recovery run rouge, and shouldn't be turning any unpaid balances to little mom-and-pop credit reporting companies who employ sub-par workers who don't provide any customer service or follow their own policies.

It may be premature to leave a review as I only checked my father in yesterday. Our experience during check in was great. The place was nice and the staff were professional, compassion, and thorough. As I drove away, I felt a great sense of relief feeling confident that I left my father in great hands. That feeling changed today when I called to check on him and was told I'm not allowed to call in. I understand and respect the privacy policy and HIPPA laws. I have durable Power of Attorney and Medical Power of Attorney over my father and I left copies of these documents with the facility. In addition, my father signed a consent form with the social worker allowing the facility to talk to me about his care. The social worker instructed me to call today to talk to his therapist. She urged me that this call would be very important. I called once this morning and left a message which wasn't returned, I called a few hours later and a young woman answered. Not only wasn't she unhelpful, she HUNG UP on me! This is a stark opposite of my experience yesterday. I felt so much peace that I had left him in the right hands and now after being hung up on, I'm second guessing the decision. Since in have not talked to my father today, I am beginning to feel concerned. A facility like this should understand the emotional roller coaster that family member go through and the amount of trust it takes to leave their loved one in someone else's care. I was assured I'd be able to communicate with the staff, and even though I explained to the lady that I had three documents that give me the authority to do so, she simply repeated "I can't help you. There are privacy laws." When I asked to speak to a supervisor she told me no. I said I understood they needed to confirm that they had the proper documentation and I asked if she could just take my name, verify the documentation and have someone call me back. She told me "no, there are privacy laws." When I asked what the process was for me to talk to someone she said "I can't help you." Finally I gave up and started to ask her about family and friends days as I want to encourage our family to participate but need more information. Before I could get the question out, I was hung up on. My husband, who runs a home care agency, called back to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor was helpful in explaining what should've happened. And he did take my name to have my father's therapist call me back. But he was not applogotetic and when I tried to talk, I felt cut off a couple times. Maybe he was just in a hurry, but again, it's not easy to go through this. I would hope that a facility specializing in substance abuse rehab would have more patience and compassion towards family members. Quite contrary to today's experience, the nurse and social worker I met yesterday, as well as the other staff, were wonderful! I'm praying our experience here will be more of what I saw yesterday and not a repeat of today. If I were leaving a review based on yesterday, it would be five stars. Based on today, one star. I hope to be able to leave a new five star review in a couple weeks.

Saved my life!! Admit your powerless and fight for your life. You make the miracle happen they just assist. Negative reviews about food and insurance are just not applicable to the quality of care so just do it and admit yourself like I did because there is no reason to live like that ..

This place saved my life. If it was not for Brighton I don't know where I would be. The staff and counselors are the best ! If you need help with a drug problem this is the place for you. Also the food is good to. So if you need help or a loved need help this is the place to call.

Where do I even start, this place is a joke. They only care about the insurance they don't care about your individual health. They are so textbook it's ridiculous. They run this facility like a prison. I guess if you don't have a family or are homeless this would be a "vacation" for you. The only good thing I have to say about my visit is the actual patients that are there with you make a HUGE impact , just knowing that you are not a lone. On top of it the whole time I was there almost all the men were talking about every womens looks and body I mean really I never knew a rehab was a dating place. They try to make family and friends day look so "perfect" ha big frickin joke. I do not recommend this place at all.

I came here for my addiction to cocaine and opiates. This place helped me to get my life in order. The first step is realising you need help. The staff was amazing in helping me deal with my issues and getting my life in order. They helped me with detox and finding the underlying issues that led to my addiction in the first place. I highly reccomend this place.

The negative reviews here are hilarious. They are so obviously written by people who didn't follow the program or have glaring mental disorders; don't fret. I had an amazing time at Brighton... they truly saved my life. I've maintained 100% sobriety from alcohol since leaving after a 10 day stay (combined with AA meetings and therapy afterwards of course... you can't do it alone). It's not perfect. The food is kind of blah (CARBS CARBS CARBS) and the water in the bathroom sinks smells like rotten eggs and makes you gag when you brush your teeth with it but it's well water what do you expect? While I was a patient there were four people cheating on their spouses with each other so don't do that; it's gross and a sure sign that your life is probably way more of a mess than you think it is. There are some bad eggs sometimes; it's a rehab so you have to kind of expect that. They usually give up and go home after a few days to shoot more dope so it's all good. Despite the mental-midgets, I made quite a few friends here that I still stay in touch with. There are plenty of leisure activities to keep you busy as well as educational classes to teach you everything from coping skills to the science behind addiction. There are a few "teachers" (really just staff who have a dual-role) that kind of phone it in but the majority are awesome (VIC AND ABBY ROCK!). Life changing experience. If you're a human pile of trash you won't get much out of it and you aren't going to stay sober anyway. If you have an open mind and truly want long-term sobriety, it's worth a shot. You only get one life.

The impatient care is very good. The staff is nice and wants to see patients succeed. The didactics are very informational. I found group therapy to be my favorite part of the day because I developed a close bond with my peers, making me more comfortable to share things I wouldn't at, say, an NA/AA meeting. The food is pretty good. I habe always been pleased with Brighton until my stay at the Men's Halfway House. We were always told to make 90 meetings in 90 days but there were days I didn't go to meetings because new members can't leave campus. I was unjustly thrown out of the halfway house at 6:30 AM one day, only to be told it was a mistake and was invited back. Although I'd recommend someone going to their halfway house instead of an unsafe place, I felt like BCR didn't put much care into the operation.

Brighton hospital was by far the best rehab facility I have ever been to. The staff, nurses, therapists, and even doctors all care SO MUCH. Literally every single employee there has been in our shoes and knows what we're dealing with. They focus on the core issues of what were "running away from" instead of making us sit through boring lectures. Each program they have is always interactive, even the nutrition class which I didn't think was going to be interesting (it was). I would just like to personally thank everyone at Brighton for all the help they have provided, especially Virginia and Mike Risk. They both worked with me personally and helped me sort out so many personal issues. Thank you Brighton for giving me another shot at life, I will never forget my stay.

This hospital has obviously helped many, but I feel as though they do not truly understand the depths and psychological change long term narcotic addiction can inflict. Their "no mind or mood altering substances" approach is idealistic and not grounded in reality. The idea that people with multiple decades of narcotic addiction can be weaned off in a week is naive. They prescribe unproven and expensive anti-depressant, anti-psychotic, and all sorts of other drugs they think are ok. But any use of a substance Scheduled 1-5 by the federal government is prohibited and "destructive." They hold an iron clad ideology that drugs are bad.. mkay.. The truth is, (although they'll tell you otherwise) they use the same strategy for every patient "because it has been proven to work." But if your not their typical addict, if you're an outlier, if you don't fit the mold, or if you need specialized or individualized treatment. In my opinion, this is not the best place for you.

Those of you who have had a bad experience with Brighton Center for Recovery... you are not alone. I had a boyfriend who checked himself in there, and they discharged him early as well. I begged them not to do so, and they didn't care. Their excuse was that his insurance was insufficient, but it should have been great insurance, as he was a full-time Union laborer. Now he has passed away (a little over a year ago) from what appears to be an overdose. It was the hardest thing in the world for him to seek help, and they let him down. He was only 40 when he died.

Don’t do their IOP (intensive out patient) at least the one in cottonwood heights area. The therapist Alex McCauley is childish, rude, an down right immature. In IOP you are “Suppose” to share your opinions an beliefs an be open with everyone. The group was great, but not her. She’ll get offended an then have tension with you to the point you end up leaving 1 1/2 months early cause you feel so uncomfortable like I did. Don’t go there!

This place has brain washed my husband (Brian is still I rehab and I am writing this from my perspective) they have ruined him and our relationship. I would never ever recommend this place to anyone! Unless you are single and don’t care about losing your life outside of this awful “rehab”

Terribly run place. We went and sat in the lobby for 2.5 hrs waiting to discuss their treatment facility. I was told numerous time that we would get a call in a couple of minutes, never received one. When we left the receptionist said they would definitely call later that day, never did. Poorly run.

Going here changed my life for the better.giving me techiniques to fight addiction and cope with life is some of the best things I've learned in all of my years being on this earth and it's kinda sad how the insurance companies treat sick people in fact it opened my eyes to how we all are products for America to be exploited but it's up too you how you deal with it and turn it around

Tried calling to get information for my sister who is in a 5 day detox center now, she needs longer, was told to try this place and when I called the first time was just hung up on, called back a Joanne answered said I had a few questions she says Ok very snotty, ask if my sister could come from another detox straight there (alot that I have called will not!! So good question right?) Was told we are a rehabilitation center so Just have her call. I would Pray your other staff is not so condescending and rude to people calling or there to get help they are going through enough than to deal with snotty, Condescending b@#@# on top of what they are already going through. And mind you when a Family member calls to ask questions for their loved one they are going through alot also from watching their loved one die slowly from drugs! And DO NOT NEED TO BE SPOKE TO SO RUDELY!!
