Never be afraid to come here. Everyone is beyond helpful and gracious here. My husband is a veteran and after we fell into hard times, I did not know who to turn to for help, and I just walked in. Though is was just after hours, the nicest folks came to my aid and I was placed at ease as I struggled to hold back the tears and explain the situation we were in. Not only are they helping my husband, but they are taking care of me as well, and I could not be more grateful for what all they have done so far, and willing to do in the near future. Seriously, if you are a Veteran, spouse (common law and domestic partnership apply as well) or family member of one, do not hesitate to walk through those doors and ask. Even those who struggle to pay the bills or are recently homeless, walk in and talk to them. There are more programs out there than ever before, and they WILL take care of you! God Bless the Topeka VA, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart, you are the shining hidden gem in this city!

This DIRT BAG JOINT could better serve it's veterans as a LAND FILL!!! Drs. Nurses, and everyone who works there are nothing but DIRT BAG LIARS!!! Every time you go there they ship you to a civilian hospital and then YOU'RE STUCK WITH THE BILL. Every time I go to the Topeka VA Center you are treated with the utmost of dignity by everyone staff and other patients. I have never seen a hospital where you walk throughout and you are constantly greeted. I am a member of the Blue Team and the entire team is professional, knowledgeable and understanding during your visit.

The VA hospital generally provides good service. Their emergency services can be lacking in customer service but that's expected in a busy ER.

The attitudes of quite a few workers is not so pleasant, that's not to take away from the few who are helpful. I have been coming here for years but only when necessary. I have had many negative experiences here and at the cboc in junction city ks. Overall, not a fan.

Awesome staff, everyone I have encountered to date has displayed the utmost professionalism and courtesy. My doctor is fully engaged and when I attend an appointment, I know 100% the doctor has been reviewing my records because her comments are always on track. When given a referral, the admin staff always contacts me in a timely manner and I receive those somewhat annoying but helpful text reminders!

they have a great substance abuse treatment program for the vets. also in building 24 they offer activities such as free pool, ping pong, and library for vets. On Sundays they offer bingo and a movie. Best mental health programs for our heroes.

Weeks of unanswered calls for an appointment they sent me in the mail to make. Then I finally get through, sit on hold for 20 minutes, try to make an appointment, I get some "Blue Team" lady smacking in the phone, can't remember my name, and tells me that I need to pick a different day than Monday to set up an appointment. This is medical care at it's best... Welfare recipients get better care and attention than this. SO Frustrating, this is universal health care, no one in the universe cares...

I know that many veterans have had humiliating and poor experiences with the VA over the years and I am not discounting them, however, I feel it's also necessary to point to the fact that there are good, hardworking people at the VA and that when they do an excellent job they be noticed. I've been a patient at the Topeka VA since 2008. I am a third generation veteran to be a patient there. I've used many of the different services provided and have had nothing but dependable, quality care. Every person I come into contact with treats me with respect and has earnestly tried to help to the best of their abilities. I appreciate those that do their jobs well and want them to know they're appreciated.

I came here once for an MRI, from my home VA of Kansas City (which is a filthy, incompetent nightmare, staffed by rude uncaring people). My experience with VA Topeka was both very refreshing and positive. First, it was Clean. Second, the staff could not have been nicer. I had to wait a while (which one should expect wherever they go) but the MRI Team was very solicitous of my comfort and concerns before the procedure. Finally, parking was abundant and close to the building.

Generally speaking, the staff are friendly and helpful however this isn't the case when you're talking about the E.R. they don't take the Emergency part of that very seriously. We are still sitting ... we've been waiting for four hours.... I have never been treated with this much indifference.

After moving to Tulsa and being part of their VA I extrmley miss the Topeka VA. They were so fast getting me in and getting my request forwarded to choice or whoever. Plus the facilities are 100x better than what I'm dealing with now, and thats in a much bigger city.

I have done nothing but spoken highly of the Topeka VA and their satellite clinics since my family (for we have multiple vets) began their care here. Tonight how ever was my first time ever utilizing the ER. We spoke with a triage nurse before coming to see if our concerns were of emergent care and she deemed them so. We drove an hour to bring my mother here. First concern was that the nurse refused to let me back with my mother while they treated her. I understood I had my children with me but upon our arrival my mother was scared and a bit confused. I relented because I wanted her cared for above all else. We waited for almost 3 hours before anyone gave us word on what was being done or for any other explanation of what happened. When the nurse finally came out she was not only loud she was giving my mother's information in front of strangers right in the waiting room. As I was expressing my concerns and attempting to ask questions to better understand she kept cutting my off mid-sentence and proceeded to get louder and all but shouted at me in an attempt to get me to let it go. I ended the conversation with a request to speak to the doctor. He was no better. When he came out most of the other guest had left the area (they were allowed back to be with their veteran) so he proceeded to just retell me what the nurse said. He was irritated with the facts I presented about a prior condition and insisted what we were dealing with was not his (or rather the ERs concern). He left claiming to consult with another doctor. Upon his second return, he too, spoke to me in the waiting room in front of guest again and said he and another doctor had come to a decision about the cause of her condition and told me "when test results come back normal, even low normal you should calm down and go home". He then became louder (he's fairly soft spoken, but he was loud enough to draw to looks of those around us) and proceed to use language that painted his patient, my mother, in a negative light and acknowledged that he wasn't going to try to understand what I was presenting him with because he had made his decision and my peace of mind was no longer his concern. Until this visit to the ER, I have had not one complaint about the workings or staff here at Colmery O'Neil. They even went above and beyond to make a procedure for my mother, which was out of state, quite an easy process. This evening however has highlighted more than ever that the care given outside of primary physicians and the bedside manner of those involved in it has much to be considered. I will be reaching out to patient advocacy. I will be seeing this through and I hope that this experience is not repeated for another at any time. Above that, I will do everything in my power to never have to deal with the ER staff at all. Staff not including the front desk/check in attendants they were truly kind and pleasant.

When i was shot three times and stabbed twice and thrown from a car driving through the ER driveway.The Topeka KS Va saved my life with out the highly trained nurse's and Doctors i would have died that hot day in the summer. But while i was lying there in the parking lot i did die ,and the ER team ,did save my life, and I'll always be greatful to each and every one of them . Waited 6 months to find out I had tear in tendon. Dr.s there said nothing wrong with me and sent me home. I would not trust them to give me a flu shot. Might as well go to Vegas if you wanted to gamble with your life.

My husband did not receive good service by his medical provider at all. I will write a letter to the Governor and directly to the President of the VA and more. This is not allow and will not tolerate bad behavior from a primary physician. A fatal quack.

I can usually find a parking spot, check in is easy, often seen on time or early. I am finding out that the VA doctors either don't care or aren't allowed to care, and in some cases, both. I pretty much waste 4 hours just driving here. but I guess I shouldn't complain too much as I have health "care" and they may possibly read this...

Worst experience with my husband and the orthopedic doctor! He was rude, very disrespectful and smacked his gum the entire time. He clearly did not care about my husbands concerns with a lump causing him pain. He had waited 3 weeks to see a doctor to only be shrugged off and told that he has no idea what he's talking about. Why do I see so many comments with similar reviews?! It disgusts me that this is the way we treat our veterans!

Had an emergency and went into the ER. Took 4 hours for me to give up, and decide to come back the next day. Here we are at hour 3 still waiting to be seen. They have 1 doctor on staff at all times, yet a full lobby of patients. Save your time, go elsewhere.
