My son was born at Silver Cross and the nurses were absolutely fantastic. They work extremely hard and well. They get everything down in a organized and professional way. They are beyond kind and caring to family members visiting, to you, and your baby. The lactation consultants are always around to help and are also really caring and helpful. The rooms are really nice and clean. They’re updated and all private. The food is also surprisingly delicious. Not at all what I had expected for hospital food. I HIGHLY recommend delivering your babies at Silver Cross.

Please please stay away from this hospital. They have zero care for the patient or their family. Brought my mother in for what we thought was good poisoning turns out she had stomach cancer and was moved to the cancer floor. It spread quickly. The hospitalist came in each day twice a day and talked to her like she was a rat on the street. Then they constantly try to push you out even though you aren’t better . No one seems to be on the same page. Some doctors say you need to stay longer, but then you’ll have other doctors say another. The case managers are extremely rude and one which asked my mom do you even know where you are going when you leave here . Ultimately my mother was discharged only to be brought to another hospital a day later . She began to have kidney failure and passed away within the week. I truly believe silver cross did not care or give her the bedside manner she needed and deserved . She was very young too.

I felt incredibly discriminated against by the emergency room staff. I am a recovering addict, clean for over a year and was refused medication I truly needed because the doctor believed I only wanted drugs. They weren't even good drugs I needed, why would a CLEAN PERSON waste their time with that? Especially being incredibly ill. I was admitted and immediately given the medication I needed. My point is, Dr. Aaron Tabor, you cannot competently and fairly be treating your patients if you cannot put your own opinions, predispositions and beliefs aside for the well-being of your patient.

I have been admitted many times in the last year and they are great. The nursing staff are unbeatable. Very caring, helpful and patient. I can't say anything negative on any nursing or tech staff. They are great. They care, really care about the patient, not only that, I understand that the nursing management (I think that was the name for the managers) protect their nurses from some uncontrolled doctors. To all my nurses, CA's, aides, Tech's and cleaning persons...YOU ROCK! And to all my doctor's, and I have many, I wouldn't have made it without you. THANK YOU ALL.

Wish I could give them NO STARS! My daughter was admitted to ER, I showed up and not one person told me what they did to her prior to my arriving there and when I asked, they gave me a doctor who wasn’t the attending when she was there and he didn’t know. My daughter being 19, signed paperwork for me the mom to be told everything but was not informed of anything. Phones were not allowed in ER but the staff’s phones were going off the entire time. The unprofessinalism at this hospital is everywhere. My daughter was incoherent and they kept having her sign paperwork which should have been shown to me, the parent. Every time I stepped out of her room, something important happened and I was told by the nurse what the discussion was about because my daughter didn’t remember. I finally told them that I’m to be paged or called if someone comes to see my daughter. The ER STAFF out front was laughable. When I arrived, directly in front of me was a security guard, I asked about my daughter, he directed me to 3 ladies, which they asked if I got a lock for a locker because no purses or phones are allowed, no I had not. The ladies sent me back to security and the they referred me to a door with 2 people, and I was ignored, noting urgent in ER I guess, I said I need a lock, so finally got one and the security guard showed us where the lockers were and what room my daughter was in. Then the waiting began and no one asked who we were, we must have been invisible. I’ve been to Mayo Clinic, there, the patient comes first, at Silver, the patient is the least of their concerns. My daughter said the ER Doctor was mean and made her feel worthless, great bedside manner Doc! I can’t say enough about the terrible experience and the people who gave more than one star might be the staff writing things cause that Hospital sucks! I was told they have over 30 beds in the ER Dept.. there was more staff sitting around and chit chatting, with 30 beds you would think they would be busy with patients. I saw an elderly man in the waiting room of the ER Throwing up into a bed pan, Maybe If things moved faster in the ER and the staff was doing their job, that poor older gentleman would have had a bed and privacy to throw up instead of the waiting room. Shame on Silver Cross!

The hospital staff are very compassionate and supportive. I have been in a lot of pain the past few months. I was sent to the hospital for a couple of tests. The staff were very compassionate and supportive. They assisted me when getting on and off the tables as well as walking. They made sure I was as comfortable as possible. They were patient when I needed to take a break to lessen my pain. I always feel comfortable going there for any treatment.

My mother was admitted on Saturday morning. I must say that her nurse Daniela and CNR Alyssia and Kerrrigan were AMAZING! They had wonder patience with my 83 yr old mother and kept me updated from start to finish.

I was the in the hospital with some sort of sickness that was completly unknown. Its basically all went wrong. First of all, my CIT "didn't come though" 1 extra day. Then they "lost" my samples 1 extra day. And to top it off, the surgeon walks in and says this "So I looked at the CIT and saw nothing. We are going to do surgery to see what is wrong. Even if there is nothing wrong, we are still going to remove his appendix." Would not recommend.

They don’t give you no follow up with your results ever!! They will continue to give you the run around for weeks. They told me my results will be back in 72 hours it’s been a week and a half And I still haven’t heard anything and I’m stressed out to the fullest!! Horrible service !

This ER was the closest to my house, but I wish I never searched google maps for closest hospital. I should of driven to some other hospital. Very long wait and Doctors and RNs were unprofessional and not to mention the whole security process when you enter. Few weeks later after the visit, their billing is very inaccurate. Make sure you take notes on which doctor is there to see you. In my case I was billed by 3 and only seen by 1(hospital can't prove the other 2DRs visited me but still wants the money --- what a joke). Definitely never again will visit this place.

We sat in the waiting room at the ER for over 3 hours, we were never told that the wait time was going to be that long. The nurses at the check in desk were eating and drinking, while patients sat there watching. They are extremely unprofessional. There were 5 staff members sitting/standing there, doing nothing, but talking. Maybe the wait time would not be that long, if they actually were getting work done. I’ll be going to Joliet next time, it’s worth the drive.

This hospital is one of the top best I had ever been I had my first gorgeous baby boy here on 3/8/19. I had the most best service ever.A beautiful sweet young nurse her name was Heather she was excellent. I was scare because my doctor made a C-section. she even gave me a hug. This is were my doctors words: The first pregnancy should be a wonderful memory experience . Everything went well with the c section I heard the nurse yelled IT'S A BOY! then my husband was allowed to come in. When my baby and I were at the hospital for four days the nurse was constantly checking on us asking me if I was in any pain or if I needed pain medication. The CNA were wonderful to asking if I needed anything. I am very happy and impressed qith the service I've got if I could I would give 100000000 ? . If you like getting the top most best this hospital is perfect excellent!

Labor & delivery. .. So here's my story. It was all going ok( not great) until it was time to push. I pushed for about 3 hours (while the delivery doctor ran in and out of the room ) screamed at the nurses. Was very rude to them. Made me feel uncomfortable. Not at all calm . Dr asked my husband if he wanted to cut the umbilical cord , he said yes . Baby came out and she didnt even let him do it she did it herself. After labor I had a major headache. I informed the nurses and they insisted I pulled a muscle while pushing.

My wife gave birth at Silver Cross yesterday and we had such a truly amazing experience that I had to write about it. A young nurse named Joelle made us feel extremely comfortable. She was so knowledgeable in her field, and she helped my wife through every step of the birthing process. It's not easy accepting everything you love in the hands of a stranger, but this nurse is truly selfless and amazing. Aside from being on call and having to come in for my wife unexpectedly being in labor, she called her brother to watch her kids so that she could stay by my wife's side AFTER HER SHIFT WAS OVER. I hope silver Cross realizes that they have an angel working for them. Thank you so much Joelle! We are so grateful for your hard work In the delivering of our baby. Huge thanks from both of our families!

Brought in by ambulance. Sitting in the lobby for going on 3 hours now. Guess I’m glad it’s not as serious as we thought. Then another lady out here (who stopped to help with my asthma when no staff could be bothered) ended up either seizing or stroking. In the mean time we’re all out here looking for help and yelling for someone. When staff finally show up they’re arguing about what call to make and using a bed or a chair! Really? Could we be any less professional???? Figured since I’m still...STILL... sitting here another ohhhh hour or so....after having the asthma attack my chest is in a world of pain and yet....we’re not too concerned as we just sit and laugh n chat with our fellow employees. Here’s a thought, if you have nothing better to do but bs, how about at least checking on some of the patients out here, I can see at least 4 elderly patients that may be in need of at least a blanket or something. Oh and wondering around looking for a patient you cannot remember the name of but describe to others might be better done with a little bit of modesty, you know not letting us all know how much professionalism you lack. Kind of like when you told a patient from practically across the room to pee in a cup...think that patient appreciated that privacy???

The nursing staff are SO unempathetic, especially the PEDS floor CNAS and RNs. I was out there originally and I’m 25 years old. They switched me to a room that was so small i had to unhook my Iv and heart rate monitor just to go to a toilet that looks like it was an airplane toilet and just came out of the sink/cabinet.. the post surgery room .. I was finally moved to another room with better staff. I had to wait sometimes 3 hours to take Tylenol (feverish) and I had to wait to take my blood pressure (because it wasn’t in the system).. also the ER is trash. I was waiting 3 hours before someone came in and actually took my bottles of blood that were just sitting on the counter for a while and gave me some Iv fluid and pain meds. (I was pretty much a 9 out of 10 on the pain scale with a bad kidney infection). Edwards is way better.

My husband was in severe pain. He visited an ER at another hospital and they pacified the pain and sent him home. Later that evening the pain was back and had worsened. We went to Silver Cross emergency room where more comprehensive testing was performed and a very accurate diagnosis was reached in two hours. Staff was very courteous, friendly and respectful. I love this hospital.

If I could give zero stars I would. I recently had major spinal fusion along my entire thoracic spine. One nurse had zero clue on how to do a proper log roll and forced me to keep my legs straight after surgery hurting me worse. The nurses had no clue how to position a strap to lift me, a strap they said was necessary and instead of placing it under my bottom they placed it directly on my freshly disassembled spine and pulled from there even when I begged them to stop and tried to move the strap with my weak body because it hurt so much. The nurses were rude and always late on meds and care. I read the reviews way to close to my surgery date and wish I had read them sooner because theres no way in hell I would go there. On top of everything else right before my surgery my family including my children were not allowed while I waited to be taken back. I was nervous and so were they and it sure would have been nice to allow them in before 5 mins before I went back. Everything about the experience was awful and I will never set foot in that place again. I'd rather die. My surgeons were kind of cool. They did a painful surgery. It wasnt fun.

If I know everything I wouldn't have called and asked about my concerned billing that I have never received , I was just checking whether they have submitted my claim through my insurance yet or not. My husband was admitted to this hospital last night to room 6320 and his follow up care is HORRIBLE! This is the second experience that we’ve had with this hospital & both were not good. Each time I was told that medicine and equipment that he needs for his conditions, including his wound were ordered and it was not! Meanwhile, my husband suffers and goes without. I have spoken with nurses & the Clinical nursing supervisor and still have no resolve. In fact the clinical nursing supervisor appeared to be very nonchalant and condescending about my concerns. In fairness to this hospital, I must say that my husband’s Pulmonologist & Infectious Disease Doctors have provided excellent care. However, in my opinion, the overall care & follow up at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox is POOR & UNACCEPTABLE! This is the last time we will admit to this hospital.

I stopped at my dad’s primary doctors office at the Silver Cross location to retrieve his ct result disc which he brought and forgot to bring it back at his visit a week ago with Dr. Jawich. The thin blonde at the desk said, “we don’t keep discs here, you’d have to pick it up where he got the procedure done”. I reiterated that my parents brought it there when he saw his primary and just forgot to leave with it. She went in the back and 30 seconds later stated the same thing. I then asked the other secretary with the pretty wrist tattoo and she was able to retrieve the disc for me, and thanked her before leaving. To the thin blonde I just want to say, why not be a little more competent, professional, and do your job. My mom, who handles my dad’s affairs because he hasn’t been able to talk because of his cancer, also says the blonde is very rude, condescending, and arrogant whenever she makes appointments or has general medical questions regarding my dad. I hope other patients and/or their family members don’t have similar encounters with this blonde. Hire better staff like the pretty brunette who was helpful!

I had been to 2 other hospital and was told I was fine. Went to silver cross and the doctors listened and actually found what was wrong. The sad thing is, it was just a few simple tests. The staff are amazing from the er to the regular hospital. Everyone was on top of everything and genuinely wanted to make me feel better thank you thank you. You all are amazing!

Unless you want to die don’t come here. Sat in the ER for 11 hours before getting in a room. Diagnosed with gallstones. Surgeon won’t do surgery because there’s no infection yet. Spent an entire next day in the hospital waiting for GI doc that never showed. No one can give me a straight answers and the story keeps changing. Haven’t had food or drink all day. How much money will this cost for yet another wasted day. Have a diabetic child at home that I need to care for instead of wasting time and money here doing nothing. Taking time off work for a surgery that is being refused that will eventually have to be done anyways. So I just sit here in pain waiting for these doctors to figure it out. Thanks for nothing.

They were so uncompationate to my wife’s sister aside that her last wishes were to be off life support with all her family present they disconnected her 30 minutes while family was in bathroom and in waiting room while she was supposedly being cleaned yeah rite murdered she died at 730 one phyco nurse kept telling us we had to leave 30 minutes later and harassed us to were to transport her body to funeral and it was family’s first funeral they didn’t know anything worst experience brutally cold staff don’t know what was more devastó get the loss of their sister or cold staff treatment.

Reviewing and rating a hospital isn't nearly as easy as doing the same for say, a restaurant or store. That being said, Silver deserves 5stars. Having both of my children birthed there in the past 18mos was overall a great experience. The personnel we're almost all absolutely fantastic to interact with. All but maybe one nurse between the two births we had were helpful and courteous. Wait times are a part of going to the hospital regardless of what for, so to be upset about a few, or even 24hrs, of wait time on blood test results is absurd... Even when you're told it should only be four. The security, especially that of the maternity floor, blew me away. I was not expecting half of the steps needed to access my wife's room after hours. 10/10 would have another kid here no question.

Thank you Silver Cross Hospital. ♥️ I arrived here early one morning due to excruciating abdominal pains and excessive vomiting. The front desk women were so sweet and offered me pillows, blankets, a basin, etc. I literally didn’t even need to wait 30 seconds until they called me in to be examined in the ER. The nurses in the ER were all extremely rude, which was unfortunate. I was hyperventilating due to the fact that my stomach felt like someone was constantly pressing on it and I literally was having trouble breathing. While the nurse was taking my blood she had the nerve to give me a nasty look and tell me “If you keep hyperventilating like that, it’s going to make getting your blood drawn even worse, just saying” because she thought I was afraid of the needles. That same nurse rushed me in to the next waiting room and at that same moment I knew I was going to vomit, I quickly asked where the nearest restroom was and she ignored me. I asked again but she just turned the other way and tended to someone else. I ended up finding a sink near me and threw up in it because I didn’t want to vomit on the floor. She screamed at me and asked why I would do that. As if I could control what was happening? After the nightmare of dealing with awful nurse after awful nurse, the doctor came in and he was above and beyond kind. He helped me figure out what exactly I had going on, quickly had me transferred upstairs to the observation level, and kept things running smoothly. My nurses in the observation level were SO sweet and all made my stay here so much more comforting. I can’t thank them enough for making me feel the way I did in such a rough time. Although the ER nurses sucked, the doctors were all great, and the observation nurses were so incredibly kind and helpful. This hospital was the second closest to my home but I was so glad I came here instead of Riverside. Thank you thank you thank you!

Wasted 4 1/2 hours of my time here. Staff was OK. Had a sinus infection and told the ER doctor which antibiotics I was resistant to. She prescribed a variant of one of my resistant antibiotics. Still have the sinus infection and will have to find care elsewhere.

Social worker said “I would’ve sent your as* home.” Social worker then said “because if anything was to happen to you, it’s my fault, can't let that happen.” Well those may be your sins so that may be on you. I urge you to turn a strong portion of your life to Allah, fear Allah and stop sinning to the best of your ability because it doesn’t help us. This is the best solution. Staff mocked the notion of a heart attack and accused me of abusing adderall when I never abused adderall, I was prescribed adderall and took it as prescribed, took it as prescribed for the time being that I thought I had ADHD as I was diagnosed as a child but I’m certain now that I don’t have ADHD.

Great experience from ER to my room. Doctors, nurses, and technicians were all professional and top notch. I would recommend the ER and any services they offer!!! Just stayed here again. May 2018. Heart went into A-Fib. The nurses and staff were are phenomenal!!! I can’t say enough how well I feel because of Sue, Amanda, Edelweiss, Katie etc... they took a very terrifying moment and turned into a pleasant and heart warming experience. I highly recommend this Ladies!!!

The young girl working at the front desk earlier was extremely unsympathetic. A girl was sitting in the ER was in so much pain and she told the receptionist and she told her to just sit down. A little while later, a man from the other side of the room noticed how much pain she was in and went up and told her and she pretty much ignored him.

I am just so thankful that my son and the birth had no complications (none of my pregnancies have). I would rather risk dying and drive myself elsewhere than be a patient here ever again. The risk of a longer period of time outweighs the complete incompetency of the staff. I don't feel safe here.

Worst hospital I have ever been to for inpatient things. Slow slow slow ER staff and long wait time. When your in need you do not want to sit for 5 hours to see a nurse. However their Outpatient Wound Care Center is very good. I am a patient there and I am very happy with the staff and nurses. They are all nice and very helpful and seem to care about their patients. For the wound center I am giving them two stars and not none. However, if you are seriously injured or in need of emergency care try to avoid this place if possible. For me its so close that in life or death situation I would come here. I had to rush my Mom here once when she could not breath and was turning blue and I decided to drive to the ambulance entrance and honk my horn to get in that door and got right into a room then and immediate care. Thank God or she may have passed out or died from no oxygen to the brain.

When someone finally came to the desk, their answer was ....you don't see what comes in the back . I didn't know there was a " preferred" entrance. They just told me that they were taking me back soon..let's see how many hours more this will take...stand by more to come....

I figure it's time to add my voice. I have seen an abundance of negative reviews on this site, but that has not been my experience. I had only one experience with emergency care a while ago, and it was handled very professionally and promptly. I ended up staying overnight and being given a battery of tests. All personnel involved were competent and friendly. I greatly appreciated the private room. That was not my experience years ago at another area hospital when I had a very bothersome roommate. Since my overnight visit, I've had several occasions to return for various out patient tests. The most recent was yesterday. Monica checked me in and Sherry did my EKG. Both were very pleasant to work with and did their jobs extremely well.

My family and myself have been coming to silver for quite some time. I always have a phenomenal experience with the nurses, reception and the phlebotomists. I live near St. Joes hospital and refuse to recieve care there. I once went to St .Joes hospital and was turned away stating my problem was chronic and they had no time to invest in my care. Not less than 13 hours later, I ended up at silver cross because my fever was at 105 for 11 hours straight .I was going into shock and having seziures. The few details I do remember were my fantastic care. I have become ill over the past two months and today I woke up in excruciating pain almost like kidney pain. I was fatigued and even developed a tremor over the past two months. The tremors have gotten so bad that I am not sleeping more than 6 hours a week (already have chronic insomnia). My heart rate was at 137 at rest. I waited 4 hours in the er which is not too bad at all. Staff was apologetic and if they only knew the wait at st. Joes is 3x of Silver Cross. When I was taken back, I described what has been going on with me and how much it progressed over night, the nurse was alarmed and said it sounds like there is a serious "storm" brewing in my body but she let me know that i would probably be discharged by the doctor because they dont have the means to treat my tremor. I had one doctor at home tell me i have adrenal failure. When I mentioned this to the young doctor he snarked and remarked "you look well". He did not bother to run anything on me other than typical cbc, cmp panel and a thyroid panel. He said this emergency room is for emergencies and I'm not saying you arent sick, because you do have alot going on, you may even have adrenal insufficiency but I'm not going to be the guy to test for that. I replied "who will then?" Apparently a elevated heart rate, low blood pressure every day, headaches each day for 2 months, night sweats, increased urine output, uncontrollable tremors, and already having a host of other autoimmune disorders didnt warrant further care. It is a shame that i will have to suffer chronically any longer than i have been with more symptoms popping up each day because I doctor refuses to treat someone because" I look well". Pardon me for doing my makeup because I tried to tough it out at work. Pardon me for always being polite and courteous . Pardon me for always wearing a smile on my face even when my body is screaming for help . I work in healthcare and I will say, I will never be present at the hospital as a patient again, unless its being brought in by a body bag. Silver cross WAS the only hope I had left for hospitals and it's a shame I cannot give this a higher rating because of one negligent physician.

Nurses once I got to my room were great. Nurses in the ER/triage?! Sad. Sad as much money as this hospital cost to build and run that they would hire the least empathetic people on the street you can find. Dr McCormick (ER doctor) extremely rude and disrespectful and literally yelled and swore at me over him being given the WRONG information (not from me). I could here him bad mouthing patients that were in his care the ENTIRE time I sat in that room. As he was walking around his “triage”. Coming from the medical background and a long family line of practitioners and surgeons, this alone will make me never want to put my care in those hands ever again. So sad to hear a doctor talk like that, we put our lives in their hands. The stars are for the nurses once I got to my room, they were great.

Simple blood work requires two hour wait. Most inefficient system ever seen. Phoned in to ask for appointment to be told walk in and no appointment necessary. Second experience here and both poor in Outpatient. Staff nice but clearly system is broken and not working. All staff recognize its inefficiencies.

Stayed at Silver Cross Hospital for 2 nights. Every staff member my family and I came into contact was kind and attentive: doctors, nurses, CNAs, nutritionists, support dogs and their owners, and cleaning staff. The food was good for being in a hospital and the private rooms made it easy for a family member to stay overnight. All of this was contributed to my recovery, great hospital!

If you love your family or friends do not bring them to Silver Cross Hospital. My elderly mother was brought here after complaining of difficulty breathing. We were initially informed by staff that my mother had a slight case of pneumonia and she was admitted. Doctors put her on an IV antibiotic. Further testing and cultures ruled out pneumonia and infection. With her age, my mother has some health issues and takes prescription medication and has for some years. However, she was always alert and mobile. After 4 days of being in Silver Cross, due to their treatment, my mother is now bedridden, unable to talk and can barely open her eyes. Now that we were told today that she does not have pneumonia, we had to tell the nurses to stop doping her up because we want to get her out of here. We do not know why it took 4 days to learn she does not have pneumonia but now that we do we're desperate to get her out of here walking, not rolling. Doctors here don't know what they're doing. Stay away!

My daughter was taken directly from the doctors office via ambulance with sob, nausea, chest pain and vertigo. Yes she was triaged, blood work done and returned in a wheel chair and we sat in waiting room for 5 1/2 hours. When I voiced my concern and asked if at least she could n lay down in a room. I was told 50 people where ahead of her and 7 had the same symptoms. What has happened to health care? No compassion. I saw other people in wheelchairs who truly looked sick. No one came b up to them for assistance. I experienced the, same treatment a few months ago, basically they don't care. I even wrote a letter of complain which was never acknowledged. She was admitted. Stay away the nurses have no compassion, the attitude they convey, is that you can leave.

Not perfect but... Like others I have had some long wait times and an occasional snippy nurse. However, my opinion of Silver Cross changed when I had to use a hospital 2 hours from Chicago in a rural area. By contrast, I realized the staff and facility at Silver Cross were far better experienced and equipped. as nice as this hospital looks, you would think the staff would be pleasant. my best experience was on the mother baby unit. they have the nicest nurses I have ever seen. but their ED, on a totally separate occasion, was absolutely horrible. I hope someone actually reads these reviews. I'm a nurse myself and this was absolutely the worst experience. the nurse said about 2 sentences in total. the Dr. was very brief and seemed uninterested. we waited 4 hours to be seen and even if they were short staffed or upset, it gave them no right to lack compassion. they did the bare minimum of patient care and patient intereraction. don't be fooled by the beauty of the hospital on the outside. it means nothing when the nurses lack everything a nurse should be. shame on them. Will never go back unless it's for OB.

I go here for my midwife! & it is the best hospital. All the staff members are so helpful and friendly because I still forgot where I am going half the time since its such a big hospital. The food isn't super gross like regular hospitals & I love how they have a cvs/Walgreens inside the hospital. Plus the little gift shop is super cute. I always feel like it is clean unlike most hospitals. I took a tour of the birthing rooms and they are so spacious and just well put together with decorations. Still 5 star rating but my one complaint is there is never any parking spaces, I make sure to leave 10 minutes earlier then I need to for my arrival just to make sure I have time to find a parking spot

I just had the most awful experience with the on call physician assistant.Gayle Scheetz and her RN nurse Lindsey. M . This two women have made me feel even sicker than I do now. I was judge and treated unfairly and I wasnt treated like a individual in need of help. I can tell you this please dont go to this hospital in pain and worried about your health and have pain medicine at home because Apparently they check all pharmacies to see what medicines you have which doesnt bother me but appreantly it makes big difference because I was told but the doctor and the nurse to go home and take what I had for pain. I literally teared up because I couldnt belive it. The first thing the nurse said was "We don't know you" I still didn't't understand. But it hit me. I was beening profiled as Drug addict and not a Patient. I will not stop until until those two are fired. No person should go through what I just did. While here for a routine doctor's appointment, my daughter fell and hit her head and before I could say anything, here were so many people there to help us, making sure Dianna was okay. it was a real experience and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way because she was taken care of so quickly and properly that we were able to avoid another seizure. Truly awful and I don't know how a place like this manages to function. Went to the ER at 4am on a Thursday morning- seems like a pretty good time to go, right? Sat in the waiting room for two and a half HOURS before I walked out and went to an urgent care instead. Lots of patients left the ER but they never called anyone back. No sense of urgency. No one said a word to me during those two and a half hours. Really really bad. Avoid if at all possible.

A person I really care about came here and was put in the Behavioral Health unit. After missing a call, I tried calling them back. Three times I was hung up on by the same person. Do you know what that feels like, when you're trying really hard to help someone out, who's being institutionalized, and a nurse hangs up on you THREE TIMES? The first time, I simply asked for the patient by giving their name, and I was put on hold. Next, I was told they're sleeping. Okay...? Things were getting sketchy at that point. Finally, I gave them the patient's name, said I understood that they were sleeping, but I needed to get a hold of them. Whoever was on the phone set it down and in the background I heard, "Hang up! Hang up!"

Just go elsewhere, unless it's affiliated with DuPage Medical. Emergency room wait was 6 hours and I was on the verge of having a seizure. Had blood samples taken to check my lithium levels so my psychiatrist can determine if I need a higher dose in order to control my mania. The lady that took my blood said she faxed the results. Nope. She didn't and I had to call to ask for them to actually fax it. This is a very crucial medication for my mental health, my psychiatrist needs the blood results, and here they (Silver Cross) are lying about what they're doing. Let's you know they care... Part 2 of my long list of complaints: My doctor at Sanitas Medical in Silver Cross had been treating me for fibromyalgia for three years. All of the sudden, some of my symptoms are now not fibromyalgia related. They're something else... It's starting to seem more and more apparent that this is a money first, patient second hospital. My condition still hasn't improved. Last, the billing department. Their incredibly incompetent and dishonest. I feel to make sure there are no outstanding balances. They say no. I call the next month they say no only to find a bill in the mail a week later. This time I called two weeks ago. No balance. Today a nearly $200 balance. A balance that I already paid off. Seriously, choose a different hospital. I need to.

2 stars for ER — I have had too many negative experiences for my children here, but the one for myself was fine, since my doctor had called me in ahead of time. 4 stars for med/surg— I was admitted for several days and in immense pain. The admitting nurse did not take my pain seriously until my doctor took her into the hall and confronted her about the way she was treating me and how I was not a dramatic person and certainly wasn’t “faking.” The other staff was incredibly caring and compassionate. As a postpartum mother of a three day old whom I had to be kept from, i was a mess. But they took great care of me. And the lactation consultants... can’t say enough about them!!! Top notch!!! 4 stars for outpatient surgery — busy but knowledgeable and caring. I was here once for myself and once for my son. And both times t was as pleasant an experience as possible. 5++++ stars for mother baby!!!! I have had three of my 5 babies here, all c-sections, and this hospital is AMAZING. Top to bottom—just amazing. The care and compassion and expertise is wonderful. My ONLY complaint is that they’re a little behind on current practices (or were 16 months ago) like skin to skin in the OR for babies who have mild trouble transitioning if the mother is willing and able. I was kept apart from my 5th for hours because he was breathing fast initially. He didn’t need oxygen, just warmth. I felt as though he could have gotten that from skin to skin as recent studies have shown, but their policies didn’t allow for that. That said, I had requested a clear drape for my c-section, and they were able to accommodate it! Their anesthesiologists are outstanding too. So involved and caring. Anyway... I wish I could give this review 5 stars, because the vast majority of my experiences have been beyond positive, but the ER is not great (or hasn’t been in the past—AT ALL), and med-surg is luck of the draw.

Nurse was miserable, doctor was a total mess. I waited over an hour in agony for someone to even acknowledge me, and this is after I was brought back to the triage area.

I have never experienced a wonderful hospital like silver cross. Amazing building layout, every single person who works there deserves a platinum medal. There was a dog who works in outpatient ward, forgot his name. I delivered my son last April. I cannot imagine a better environment like that with wonderful nurses who took care of me n my son. Special thanks to the old man who works at valet parking. When i was pregnant, he used to tell me stay inside from the cold weather n when i see the taxi, ill let u know" what is this? I love him? love every one there. I felt that humanity still exists when i saw those ppl. God bless you all angles.

I'm going to give it two stars. I have had many experiences here and some were ok but most were bad. The first one was my aunt who was here for complications of diabetes and open wounds. She ended up dying here of a stroke when no one was monitoring that she was sitting in bed for two weeks without walking and got blood clots in her legs. That one was a bad one. My dad was here once with bad chest pain and an irregular heart beat that was way off. I rushed him there and we sat in the waiting area of the ER for hours. I was panicking that he was going to die of a heart attack right there on me. I eventually voiced my concerns when he told me he thought he was going to pass out. There was not even a staff member at the check in desk most of the time if he did have an attack or stroke. After almost yelling at a couple people we did get in the back finally. But sat there forever waiting for an ekg. I was mad. He eventually did get diagnosed with a-fib and its better now.

You’ll be closer to a correct diagnosis with an hour of troubleshooting WebMd and a can of Mountain Dew My grandfather had 3 different PhD’s here (Stella, Tierney + 1 other). They sent him home after a week of being unable to figure out what was wrong. Before we moved him to Palos, It took a friend of the family (who is an RN & never met my grandfather) to figure out that he had C-Diff.

Very good hospital with clean room and excellent staff. However, be aware that ER wait is sometimes very long. If you have to go to ER try the Silver Cross stand alone ER at 143rd and near Bell rd (much quicker and they will send you to hospital if needed).

I go to Silver Cross every year for my Mammogram. The staff there couldn't be better, the technicians are very personable and they make the whole experience the best it can be for the situation. My husband and daughter have both been to the ER and each time we have never had any issues. We were met immediately and never waited more than a half an hour. Their injuries/illness was diagnosed and treated with in a reasonable amount of time.

It doesn't matter what you come to the ER for, unless you're bleeding out, it's going to be at least an 8 hour wait. If you're having chest pains, do not think that you will be seen any faster. I suggest going to another hospital, and not St Joes. It's the same as here. And make sure you double check the medication that is prescribed for your babies before you give it to them, or suffer the consequences and lose your beautiful baby.

I am almost 50. Had to have an emergency gallbladder removal. They took me right in opposed to Saint Joe's hospital that treated me like cattle. This is the first time I've been to a hospital where I was treated very kindly taken care of right away, the nurses the triage department, the surgeon, the anesthesiologist, well I can't name everybody but there wasn't one sour Puss in the bunch. Everybody was super super nice and helped me feel very comfortable as I have panic disorder. I would recommend this hospital to anyone who wasn't feeling well. Every night I say a prayer of thank you to God and blessings for every single member of Silver Cross Hospital!?

Incompetence is widespread at this hospital. Don't let the 'look' of a new hospital fool you. You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig. My family just experienced first hand, what many others are saying here. It's a shame that they can't find decent Dr's/on-call Dr's for their ER but make no mistake, that is far from their only issue there. The "case workers" aka insurance workers are uneducated and unqualified. I feel for the few there who have a brain (admitting nurses) and are decent medical professionals, if I we're them I would be embarrassed to work there.

My daughter and I took an ambulance to Silver Cross. I checked out as well as to be expected. And my daughter who has Angelman Syndrome, and CAN NOT TALK! was checked out also, So the nurse talked to me and was Interrogate me like I was on the stand in a court house. She confused me, and then she asked me if I was normally confused. I looked at her and I just stared at her ............. I wasn't a happy person. I said my dad was in the car with me on impact so ask him ............... The tone of her voice changed after that. They made me wait forever in the ER and there was no one in the waiting room.

We have our love one here in the ER since 3:45pm. 7 hours and 15 minutes later we are still sitting in the emergency room waiting area. Totally poor service. Remind you she's 81 years of age, with a few element challenges including cancer. Not one nurse check to inquire anything unless we ask for it after triage was done. I'm sure upper management does not allow this level of customer service to exist. If so, shame on you.

My father stayed on the therapy floor; transported from Loyola. His "case worker," not a Social Worker, called my mother the day my father arrived asking questions, "How is your father getting home? Who will take take care of him? He needs complete care." Mind you, my father was T-boned by a car. His entire right side, shattered! Complete elbow replacement, complete hip replacement. Long story short, my mother and father were harassed from day one by the caseworkers and I have lost all respect for Silver Cross. Hiring caseworkers, not Social Workers. The nursing staff and CNA's care. They truly are for patient's care.

I have been in the ER 3 different times and have never had a problem. The last time was 1 month ago. I thought I had had a heart attack and even though I was in no pain at the time I went there I thought it was best to check it out. After explaining to the nurse in the ER what had happened I was in a room with vitals being taken and an EKG being done within 15 minutes. I was kept overnight and had tests done and never had a problem. The only minor thing was they never brought me food until the nurses had to call because I never received any.

Had a heart attack and had to go to Silver Cross. Doctor put three stents in. The procedure went very smooth and when I was put in my room i had the best care by the best nurses. Usually when you are in the hospital it is impossible to get any sleep. These nurses came in quietly, never put on the bright lights and spoke very quiet and did their best not to disturb me more than necessary. Absolutely horrible, my husband was transported via ambulance at 2am, from a fall down stairs and knocking himself out! He had a 2.6 inch gash on his forehead bleeding and a broken wrist! They took him off the stretcher, put him in a wheelchair where we sat in the waiting room until 630am and still was never seen by a doctor! There was no end in site! After being in my sisters room in the maternity unit until 10:15, I left to get food for her husband and was told I couldn't return to the room because visiting hours ended at 9. So they didn't even allow me to give the food to her husband. Then I returned the next day after she had her baby and was told I wouldn't be able to see the baby, only parents and siblings of the child but not siblings of the mother were allowed visitation privileges. Staff was on edge, rude, and acted as if I was bothering them with any questions I had.

WORST HOSPITAL EVER!! If you value your life, or the life of a loved one, RUN, DO NOT WALK as far away from this HELLHOLE disguised as a palace, as you can get!!! When they were full beyond capacity, I waited 4 days in a dirty ER room and was forced to share a community bathroom down the hall with people with infectious diseases even though I am immune system compromised. When I was finally.moved to a room upstairs and was still very ill with a blood pressure of 90/40, they threw me out in the street at 9:30 pm while my admitting dr was out of town. When I said I could not leave without my dr's approval, they called 3 giant security officers who demanded I leave the hospital room with an IV still in my arm and no prescriptuons. I had a life threatening condition THAT ONE OF THEIR DOCTORS CAUSED, so Mayo Clinic had to rush me to their ER in Rochester, MN to save my life.

beautiful hospital. horrible policies and coordination! my wife hasnt gotten 1solid hour of sleep since delivering our baby about 20 hours ago. everytime a nurse walks out of the room they say get some rest.5 minutes later someone else walks in than sais the same on the way out. and someone after that etc etc. leaving little to no time for rest.my wife is so tired that im supervising while she feeds our baby. i left a note on the door that read" mom could really use some sleep please". nurse ignored the note 10 minutes into my wifes nap and and gave me attitude when i asked about my note. i honestly would not have another baby here.

For a hospital that's located in a well off city the service was horrible. They knew exactly why I was coming in bc I was sent by Urgent Care, they triaged me into the ER, gave me a room an hour later, sat in the room for 2 hours being checked on only once bc I pressed the button for a nurse after not hearing anything for an hour, she gave me a painkiller and water. Another hour later I'm told I have to wait until tomorrow to see an ENT bc they cannot help me there. I asked why did they accept me in knowing they weren't going to be able to help me, he had no answer. So I paid a $300 copay to get one painkiller and watch tv for 2 hours, great!

Worst hospital ever! I had my son back in May of 2014 and my water had broke so they wouldn't check to see how dialated I was. I told them I needed to push so they let me start pushing then told me to stop.. long story short my son was born with no nurses or doctors in the room. My mom yelled for my nurse. She came in and said she didn't know what to do.. are you kidding me? I recently had another son in January and he was 6 weeks early so they tried to stop my labor. They gave me a heart medication to stop my labor knowing I had a heart condition. So I coded on the table because of it. Then they gave me so much medicine I was puking everywhere. Nurses ignored me the whole time I was there, the only reason I had what I needed was because of my family and fiance. My son was in the NICU for 3 weeks and he was not properly takin care of as he was so sick, they also failed to tell me that he had a heart defect. The only reason I found out was asking for his medical records. I will never go back to this hospital as they put my life at risk and both my son's. Worse hospital I have ever been too. We deserve better than that!

To start with this is the second time that a young inexperienced man was allowed to set up my IV- resulting in three pokes and blood all over the chair and me passing out like a leaf =). I have prepped my self for the surgery by not drinking or eating since 6 pm. (Came in at 9pm). They checked me out (blood work cat scan) and said I will get surgery by 2 am. This time window got pushed back 7 times! As more people came in with more serious issues. They finally got me into a room 10 hours after arriving at the emergency and said my surgery will be in "the morning" when surgeon is ready. At 7 am. They told me it is scheduled for 2 pm. At this point I started speaking up, but was told that there are more emergent situations. At 2pm. They pushed my operation to 4.30pm. this caused my appendix to start leaking and by miracle they still pulled off the laprascopic appendectomy without having to cut me open completely. Procedure was completed 18 hours after arrival at the ER which was really pushing it and these guys almost caused me to have a full on rupture!

Do not use this hospital for ER services. Once your admitted the staff is fantastic. However in order to get admitted you 100% must go through the ER. I have chronic kidney stones that need to be surgically removed. The ER nurses are the most unprofessional pitiful human beings I've ever dealt with.

WORST WORST !! Worst hospital ever my girlfriend has been in and out of there for head and neck pain she was just in this morning for horrible neck pain so bad she couldn't move it. So she went to the ER around 2am and didn't see the doctor till 7:30am and when she did see the doctor he told her it was not an emergency that she was there, she had a CT SCAN a few months back and she was confused on if the CT scan would be too much radiation so she was asking if they recommend another one and they got extremely rude and told her it was up to her if she wanted to deny the the ct or not, the doctor came back in with an attitude mind the fact she has a headache and was sleeping and he has two interns in the room.. Saying "he's an emgergency room doctor all he does is read the test and that's all" he's not a doctor. ? So.. Why are you working in an emgergency room then!! I couldn't believe he had the nerve to tell her that it wasn't an emergency ! He also said that neck and head pains weren't emergencies. EXTREMELY RUDE DOCTOR

This ER department and hospital are GOD AWFUL - in 2014 I was taken there via ambulance from my ob/gyn office in Orland Park - we knew I was suffering from an ectopic pregnancy in my right tube, I had previously had an ectopic pregnancy in 2012 in my left tube.. this was my last remaing fallopian tube... upon arrival I was in tremendous pain, their ultrasound tech gave up after trying to shove her wand while I was bearing over in the worse pain ever, she told me she didn't even see a fetus or any sign of pregnancy.. LOONG story short- the next day they released me said I was in the middle of a miscarriage NO! that was not possible as my numbers were climbing up not declining as they would in a miscarriage... all signs and symptoms pointed to an ectopic, they released me the next day and told me to follow up with my dr, twenty minutes after arriving home I felt a burst on my left side and then from my toes to my stomach i felt a tingling sensation and called my aunt to drive me to Palos ER where my obgyn had priv, mind you I from Will county so it was a long drive there

My father went to the ER with an abdominal aortic aneurysm that had ruptured. Whatever the hospital's criteria is for determining patient needs, it needs to be reevaluated. I arrived at the ER after he had been waiting for well over three hours and found him slumped over a chair in the waiting room. Within a very short period of time after being seen, he was airlifted to Loyola for an extremely risky surgery. I was never so thankful as when they said he would receive treatment elsewhere. At the admission of the Silver Cross ER physician, he was hours from death, yet was left to rot in the waiting room.
