I really like this place! My room mate was receiving therapy from a student && I go w/ diana. I mostly see female therapists here, which is good to see as a female. &&& yeah great service! The waiting list can be kind of long... but it's totally worth it!

There are some very caring counselors who helped me a lot! I had 3 different counselors unfortunately, though, 1 left due to end of an internship and my 2nd favorite counselor had medical issues and frequently had to take time off and eventually no longer worked there. MISA group was awesome when counselor that left facilitated it. Good experience with medical records!

She created a judgement free zone and for the first time in my life I feel I can go full throttle deep. She will be sorely missed and a great loss to the Mental Health & Kenneth Young Communities. As much as I do not like writing reviews. This one has to be done. My friend was ecstatic upon being accepted at kenneth young for treatment. He was hopeful when intake started after 6 weeks. An additional two months of intake. He was promised specific treatment. Such as a 16 week drug treatment program and weekly visits regarding mental issues. To which none has been provided. Just cancelled appointment after cancelled appointment. To watch someone so fragile mentally break down in frustration is heartbreaking. I feel helpless watching him suffer. I hope that your facility will be more mindful and maybe not treat him in such a low and disrespectful manner.

I have been going to KYC for about 5 years. The ladies at the front desk are very nice. The guy in billing is super nice too (Bob). They only accept PPO or Medicaid; they also have discounted self-pay for those without insurance. I saw psychiatrist Dr. Jerry Gibbons for about 4 years at KYC. (I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HIM....SEE STORY BELOW!) He doesn't say much/not very helpful during sessions. I was the one guiding my treatment, basically. I would be the one to say which med. I wanted to try, which med. I wanted to stop, etc. He never really offered much feedback, he pretty much just went along with it. It had its pros and cons. The last time I saw him, was THE LAST TIME I ever went back to see him. Long story short, I was beginning to suspect that I had been misdiagnosed (with a mood disorder). He refused to explore that possibility. Instead, he kept insisting that my problem was originating from my personality and that I was just impatient and that I just needed to take mood stabilizing medication. He was aware that I was upset with his reaction (I was tearful and frustrated). He then started telling me that maybe I need a new doctor. There were numerous moments of awkward silence where we just stared at each other bc he wasn't saying anything (I was waiting for him to say if our session was over or what....I didn't know if we were done talking or not...it was so uncomfortable). Finally, he basically said (not in these exact words but essentially...) "well I think we're done here". In the 4 years that I had been seeing him, he always stood up at the end of the session, and walked me out to the waiting area-that's what all the employees do. Not this time. He kind of gestured toward the door with his hand and I got up and walked myself out. After I left that appointment, I broke down crying in my car. I felt so hopeless, completely invalidated, and truly mistreated. This man was causing me to second guess what I instinctively knew to be true. For the next few weeks I was in shock over how rude and unprofessional he was during that session. At no point did I raise my voice or curse at him or anything like that, in order to be treated so disrespectfully. I admit, I was assertive and honest about feeling that my concerns were being disregarded. However, I expressed my concerns in a very controlled manner.

Well I’ve been going to counseling and seeing Dr. Gibbons for over a decade now and I’m still banging my head in the wall literally trying to look for help and answers and like some of the reviews I read they are so accurate it’s not even funny! I truly feel sorry for the patients that had to go through such a difficult situation and not get any help to ultimately leave they’re feeling worse like I do. I have even gone to liquor store right after my appointment it’s been so bad!, they won’t prescribe the right anxiety meds they’re not very open minded or let alone even listen to what you have to say without getting some kind of rebottle or an argument from them. So I’m with you folks out there with the one star rating!!

What can I say? By reading just a few reviews l realized that I was not the only person who was mistreated. For 8 months you had me jumping through hoops, and once I found out that I had to have a hip replacement STAT,l was dropped like a hot potato. When I first met with the Kenneth Young Center l was SO HAPPY, but now I am VERY SCARED. The day after my surgery my SW called me at the hospital and told me that she was no longer with the Kenneth Young Center. That is after the fact that she has ALL of my belongings and I even was told to change my address to the Elk Grove facility and in June I needed a new state ID that was also put in the Elk Grove address and now I have none of my belongings and I am not getting any mail l am a64 year old woman who has suffered enough PTSD in my life. My Mother Father Sister and most of my family is deceased. And for 8 months I told my SW more than my family knew about me and it's to late to tell them because they are all deceased now. I can say that the last 30 years of my life were mentally and physically ABUSIVE and I even talked to my SW about being raped by the father of my first son and my family NEVER knew anything about it and there is so much more that I told my SW and look where I am at now I am in a rehab facility for the next 6weeks and was told and talked into the surgery and that NOTHING would change but that is SO FAR from the TRUTH cause as of now I have NOTHING just a couple pair of PJ's my purse and ALL of my belongings are well I was told that they are at the Mt Prospect office in the SWs office that is no longer with them. After what 3 weeks of texting the person I was told to the day after surgery when I was informed about my SW leaving but WOW yesterday I received a text message from the person who took over and told me that I would be getting my belongings ASAP and I asked him about my mail and a few other questions but once again I didn't get a response from him and all the STRESS I am under right now IS NOT GOOD for my recovery l don't eat I don't sleep all l do is THINK that how can a SW be SO COLD I thought that SW work with you not AGAINST YOU well after reading just a few reviews l realized that this is elder abuse and I have had enough PTSD and ABUSE for 10 life times now I will see if I get a response from who ever reads these reviews and I think you need to know that I don't have email set up on this phone cause my SW was going to set it up for me but I will give you this phone number and MAYBE you can find the time to text me cause there is more but I am hoping that you are getting my point my phone number is 224-623-5388!l am looking forward to hearing back from you but I have a feeling that I just WASTED my time AGAIN!!!!!!! Alone, HOMELESS and SCARED because I WAS told that after surgery I would most likely have an apartment or might have to go back to a hotel for a little while and look at my SITUATION what if this was one of your family members or just be in my shoes for just a day or two cause I don't think you would be able to handle the STRESS I am under TY and looking forward to a response from you but I DON'T think I am going to get one Debi l can't believe that you asked me for a star
