I had a situation where I needed immediate medical attention. Went to SSM in St. Louis after work (I work in St. Louis). They took forever. After waiting over two hours, I went to AMH (I live in Alton) and was able to get in and get out almost immediately.

Horrible place don't go there dr and nurses have horrible bed side maner and they don't even look what's wrong with u they just come in for a second ask what's wrong and then say OK and do nothing I wouldnt even send my enemies there....

This shouldn’t even get a 1 star rating! As an outsider looking in, the housekeeping team gets treat wrongfully and unfairly. People have gotten fired for reasons as of wearing earbuds while cleaning a room which is aloud! They praised the lazy and degrade the ones that do their job and then some! And worst of all you have managers that discriminate! Worst job to work for!

My doctor left with no notice so left us all high and dry. She moved a distance away and after calling now, a month after she left, she still is not taking medicare patients and won't renew prescription refills even though I've been her patient for 4 years. Oh, and once the office staff gave her the wrong file on me. OK, I moved to a new doctor accepting patients in Building B. Wow, they screwed up right away. First they said I could go in and get blood work without appointment which I did - Wrong so wasted my time and fasting. Went for my scheduled appointment even though I didn't feel well and explained to "new nurse practioner" my b/p was going to be high because of such and such. Think she listened to me even after I told her to read my records. She told me to go to hospital and I said no so they refused to be my new doctor. After a lot of nonsense before that point, I was deciding if I should walk out since they refused to listen to my or my history and my high b/p was for a reason. I'm now without a doctor, once again. I do not recommend doctors at Alton. I've been told this is nothing new over there. I come from NJ and just can't believe the poor medical care out here

Went to the ER one Friday night with barely tolerable chest and back pains. I checked in and saw the ER doctor within the hour and was diagnosed with having a severe case of pleurisy. Excellent service and would highly recommend this hospital to anyone in need.

Me and my fiance have sat for about an hour. We came in tonight because he has asthma and is having a hard time breathing and is light-headed and coughing up a lot of phlegm. But all the front desk lady seems to care about is her stupid computer. I think Alton Memorial needs to find better employees to handle the front desk. Because these ladies have no clue how to do their job.

My son is 15 months old and he had a fever of 103 temp and I was at work and got the call that he didn't feel good. I went to the alton memorial take care Center in godfrey and they didn't take my insurance and after I bundled up my sick baby for the second time I started freaking out crying. We went to the alton memorial er and was seen immediately and was treated with the utmost importance. All the nurses and nurse techs were very attentive and super nice and respectful :) it was nice to see all the smiles and friendly faces in there at my time of panic! The nurse techs name was Donna and she was my FAVORITE!! She assured me that I was doing everything correctly and that I was a good mother and that everything was going to be okay and gave me alot of knowledge on what to worry about and what was just a virus! I appreciate all of you're staff and receptions! :) thank you for you're kindness and you're time! I give you five thumbs up!

I had worked there 23+ years and none of the nurses I dealt with would have known me. I got great care from drs and nurses along with other departments! I would die before I went to the hospital on the circle !!!

After giving my numerous experiences my personal opinion of the quality of service was deleted. I said nothing vulgar or out of sorts. I simple said how poorly my more than one experience was. The last very lazy nurse with extremely poor communication issues named Jimmy, does not deserve to work in the ER if he can't handle patients and communicate in a proper way. In my opinion the hospital needs to clean house.

I'm 16 years old and went in with a hyperextended elbow that was dislocated but slid back into place. The doctor wouldnt even see me, kept sending in different nurses just to check on me. I was in horrible pain and crying the whole time. My elbow/arm was swollen up like a football. It was cold to me but warm when touched and I told them my fingers were numb and I could only move about 2 or 3 of them. My whole arm was tingling and numb. They made me wait for 30 to 45 minutes before taking me back for an x-ray. I couldn't move my arm in the slightest and it was stuck bent at about 90 degrees. The x ray tech, or nurse I dont really know what she was, stretched my arm out straight even though I said I couldn't extend it and was crying in pain hardly able to breath the whole time. It felt like my arm was getting broke all over again. They took me back to the room and brought me a Vicodin and a sling. They told me my arm was sprained and to follow up with my primary care doctor. Nobody informed me that my insurance wasn't active any longer at this visit so I thought I would be able to see her and get the correct treatment so I agreed. I took it and then billing and discharge came in trying to do both at the same time. They sent a prescription for ibuprofen to an old pharmacy without even asking what my current pharmacy was. My guardian at the time expressed that she was unsatisfied with my treatment and that they just sent my prescription off without asking. The nurse told her this isn't even my room, I cant change where I sent the prescription. They got into an arguement and another nurse came a few minutes later to read me my discharge instructions but couldnt even finish them because she kept interruptting my guardian who was on the phone talking about what happened with the other nurse to defend said nurse. She asked for both of their names to report to management and she wouldnt give them to her. We left but not without a smartass comment from one of the nurses. Now, after almost two months I still cant use my arm and had to get medical records from them myself because my current doctor who is treating my arm said they couldn't get them. My current doctor did an x-ray of my arm and found a piece of bone broken off and floating around elswhere in my arm. I can't remember the term she used for it, but it was a fracture. The report from my visit says that I was not in distress, I could move all my fingers and had full range of motion, that there was no joint swelling or discoloration of my arm when my whole arm was a pale purple from poor circulation, there is no mention of the Vicodin they gave me, and it says there were no fractures in my arm. I have a copy of the x ray they took there and am on my way home to view it myself. I beleive they made my arm worse and then tried to cover it up and get me out as fast as possible. Never been treated so horribly anywhere else. If I could give 0 stars, I would.

With my sister being in the ICU! The staff are very rude! Would not keep in contact on several accounts. With communication being the main source of any emergency!! Especially very critical situations!! I had to call back and give an ear full. Questions such as "why didn't someone call me back?" She replied day shift did not inform us to!!" I told her so you are telling me that you have piss poor communication?? "Sir please don't curse at me!!" I said it is not directed to you!! And that you do not go through shift change and communications then?? "Sir what does this have to do with me??" I asked what if your family member was in the hospital and you wanted or needed to know when someone was getting released? Wouldn't you want to know where they are going and wanted that phone call?? Her response, Well yes! My response, Ok then why didn't you fucking call? Her reply sir please don't curse at me. My response, ok, sorry! Why wasn't there a phone call made to let us know? Your the one that is fucking in charge of the ICU!! Please don't curse was her response. Ok do you want the number and address where she went? (Her response)! My response,so you don't want to take any responsibility what so ever? I don't need to answer that sir, we are an ICU unit, she was replying. This was so ridiculous!!! Horrible piss poor communications
