My mother came here after going to 5 other facilities in a 6 month time period. The other treatment centers claimed to offer dual treatment programs for both addiction and mental health needs which turned out not to be the case. Black Bear was the first and only treatment center where she received the experienced and loving care she needed which helped her heal from her addiction and her mental health issues. Added benefit - it is in a beautiful lodge with amazing views of nature.

The program, accommodations, setting, and meals at this place are amazing! What makes it an even better experience is the staff and the connection you will make with others that are experiencing similar issues. Their outpatient group therapy program has exceeded my expectations so far. I almost gave Black Bear a four star review. I prefer the advice of my own doctor and flexibility when choosing a therapist. Communication between the office personnel and the RAs needs work. These are my opinions and the overall experience outweighs any of the bad.

Black Bear was an overall great experience, with helpful, caring and motivated staff. I truly enjoyed my time there and know it was exactly what I needed to do, to change my life. Having said that, the billing aftermath has been a nightmare. I continuously get astronomical bills (after being told I was paid in full before I left), and then extremely delayed response times in how to proceed. The fact this is still an issue nearly three months after I left the program, is disheartening to say the least. I wish I had a final bill, paid it, and no longer had to be reminded of why I went in the first place.

I was there 105 days. And at first I hated the place. But as time went on I realized it was not Black Bear that I hated it was who I had become. And I hated change. It was a tough program that challenged me. There is nothing easy about getting sober. But the people at BBL changed my life. And I can’t thank them enough. If you are looking for a program that takes the easy softer way this program is not for you. If you are looking for a program that makes you reach deep down and take a look at the roots cause of your addiction this program is for you.

Was at Black Bear last year and it was a TOTAL disaster, if I can save ANYONE from going I hope this helps. I waited a year cause I just finished a stay at a facility that did what WAS promised and what a DIFFERENCE. The treatment is archaic - we are in the 21st century NOT 1945. Forced a strip search when they found a thyroid medication they missed on initial intake. No apology. NONE of the treatment promised on website was offered. The programming was the SAME week after week. TOTAL cluster - felt like minimum security women's facility. MANY other options out there. Please search those out..

I went in super excited and it seemed to hit all my expectations. Then things went sputh they r unorganized, understaffed and dont really tell u much when u get there i felt in the dark. I didnt stay long because of these things. They said they would call about my things they withheld from me because they didnt have a key or code to the box it was in which it shpuld be on file for those kinds of stituations. Now struggling to get my things shipped and i have to pay shipping for something that could have been avoided if it was nore put together i was very disappointed i had higher expectations for a highly talked about facility. Needs work and im still dealing with the confusing communication on getting my wallet and phone and other impportamt things of that nature. Some may have a good experience i didnt.

This place saved my life! Best treatment I have been through. I called the 800# for admission process and they immediately got me scheduled for admission. From the moment that I arrived at the gates, I was treated with dignity and respect. ALL of the staff were warm, welcoming and I felt they understood what I was going through. I was treated like a human being instead of an addict. I was put on detox meds that kept me comfortable and I woke up feeling amazing and did not have any withdrawal symptoms. The facility was clean and gorgeous. The food is healthy and nutritious. My therapist came to meet me while I was still in detox and greeted me with a hug and warm smile. Every one of the staff was happy and welcoming and talked to me about anything I needed to talk about. The medical team was also amazing, they didn't look down on me and really cared about how I felt and made sure I was comfortable. One of the ladies on the nursing team even brought me some of her clothes from home because I was so underweight when I arrived that I didn't have any clothes that fit me. I cannot say enough good things about this place!!! I've been clean and sober since I left on May 15th. They even helped me get into an amazing sober living center in Florida when I left and paid my plane ticket to get there. LOVE, LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE!!

I picked Black Bear for grief counseling because my mother had just died. Upon arrival they lied about insurance covering my stay. I was also told it was a dual facility and I would get a therapist asap on my grief of losing my mom. I had to ask multiple times when I'd see a therapist and I finally had one appt after 10 days, she was watching the clock and told me it was her lunch, no comment on my follow up date. I presented multiple RAs and therapy assistants with my need to see a pro relating to grief and I circled "meet with someone" on every morning and evening assessment with no follow up. I was given no access to phones or email as originally told. When I decided I should check out since I was getting no medical attention for my grief, I was told I would have to pay $10,000 if I left and although the handbook said I could call someone to pick me up, I was told I would have to leave, with no call, at 11pm and was sent out into the night alone. I begged to call someone and they said they would not allow it, after multiple random men pulled up and harassed me, the Black Bear van pulled in and the very nice employee apologized for them allowing me to leave and that he just wanted me to be safe. He said if I came back with him they would allow me to make my call for pick up. That wasn't the first time, while under extreme mental distress, that Black Bear watched me walk off their premises asking for another option. They took advantage of my anguish in the wake of my mother's death and I watched them do this to multiple others, Do not trust your family members here.

Had a very good experience here. I owe them a great amount to my recovery! The amenities and grounds were very nice, and the staff were helpful and friendly during all of my stay. I can see where a few people can say where some of the other patients were rough around the edges. It's a dual diagnosis treatment center, so there is that. But, I wouldn't trade my time there for anything. My therapist there accomplished more with me than any of my therapists have before combined in 15 years! They have a truly excellent staff. And nearly all of them are in recovery themselves.
