Well let's see, the staff is inhumane, they take pictures with their cellphones and laugh at the patients. They let you suffer with kidney stones because their enlightened view that pain relief is a sin, but yet they have no issues shoving anti depressants and sleeping medications down your throat. You are kept in a disgusting and freezing room for 24 hours having to ask to use the restroom, the bathrooms are disgusting with no seats. The doctors are quacks who work for the state with captive patients because they would never make it in a private practice. You are there 24 hours and see the doctor for maybe a few minutes, they tell me to work on "coping skills" to deal with chronic kidney stones which are literally more painful than child birth. They don't let you even take your own medicine for the suffering because they want to pretend they know more than real medical doctors, because to them there is literally no medical need for pain relief, and instead offer you worthless ibuprofen and tell you that chronic pain can lead to depression but think they can treat depression without treating the chronic pain (the actual root cause of the poor state of mind). That's how utterly ridiculous these creatures are. It is a horrible experience to force someone in a crisis to sit in a freezing room 24 hours a day with abusive jaded cynical staff, with uncaring medical staff who have no business whatsoever in the medical field with their jaded attitudes. What I need is simple, the ability to control the agonizing symptoms of chronic kidney stones, with that I wouldn't have developed any kind of depression in the first place. I don't need 3-5 different psychiatric and sleeping pills with side effects to treat depression which wouldn't exist if I wasn't in chronic acute pain. Also the Doctors are condescending and rude and always act as if they are just so busy and that it's just not possible to get any progress done with your situation so you can move on. No one forced them to work there, if anyone else acted like this at their job they would be disciplined up to job termination. However they have job security working for the state with a captive practice that is forced to see them. Useless grievance system, people have for years I see online spoken up about the same problems with David Lawrence but nothing is ever done because it's a facility run by evil people with black hearts who act as if you got sick on purpose to their inconvenience.

I arrived at David Lawerence in Naples broken, lost, and unable to look myself in the mirror. It is truly amazing what 28 days and a caring compassionate staff can do in the lives OF THOSE WHO TRULY SEEK AND USE what is given here. I emerged with a set of tools to guide me on my new journey. I have today what I have longed for my entire life.. hope, confidence, willingness, open mindedness, teachability, and above all a spiritual connection to a higher power of my understanding. Horrible place!!! If you or a family member need psychiatric help or bipolar, mental health disorders, DO NOT GO HERE. They are unprofessional, hold people in against their will even if they are okay. Drugs, drugs, and more drugs is what they push, clients walking around like zombies all drugged up, and they make it impossible to have someone released, I am in the process of a Lawsuit against them for improperly forcing baker act without proper criteria being met.

David Lawrence Center is an outstanding facility. We have been treated with compassion and professionalism every step of the way. Reception personnel in all buildings have been caring & kind. The assessment & intake personnel have been thorough and efficient. The doctor and therapist we've been assigned are highly competent and are excellent treatment providers, top of the line. From our experience, David Lawrence Center is extraordinarily well-run. This Center is providing much needed services to a highly-challenged segment of the population, and it is doing it brilliantly. It can be very difficult & stressful to work in the mental health field. I commend the Director, the Board, and all of the David Lawrence Center employees for their hard work, and I thank them.

Avoid taking your child here! Although there are a few very nice staff members here but I have to say a lot of them are very rude! Their whole system is very frustrating to deal with and half the staff you talk to don't seem to be aware of the actual policies! Be aware that if you bring your child there for counseling they will be evaluated by a nurse practitioner, not an actual MD. The Nurse my daughter saw wanted to talk about PMS and not any of the other tons of issues teens deal with, like anxiety, depression, moodiness etc. I honestly thought maybe some meds could help my child but this nurse did nothing for us. She sent us home and wanted to "reevaluate" in 8 weeks. I wanted to get Family Counseling with my daughter but was told by a staff member I couldn't do that. My daughter was placed with a therapist who was very snippy and rude to me when i brought my daughter in and asked her a question. Then therapist nevet followed up after the 1st appt. I had wanted to have counseling for me and my child together and was told we couldn't do that. So I didn't pursue it until a few weeks later when i called a supervisor and was told that wasn't actually the correct information. So it seema like a lot of the staff there doesn't know the correct information! I told the supervisor I wanted my child to be seen by an actual MD and she said we could do that, and and she transferred me to scheduling, and as soon as I asked for the appt with an MD the scheduling woman on the phone said "she's already seen so and so, the Nurse." So i explained what the supervisor had told me and then Scheduler connected me over to yet another supervisor and all I got was voicemail. At that point I gave up. Overall, I would say the place is very frustrating to deal with and my advice is to avoid it if you can. It's a 3 ring circus. I will look for a different place now.

If you need to detox then perhaps this is the place for you, but if you require inpatient psychiatric stabilization for a bipolar disorder, say, then stay far, far away from this place. It is not a hospital so much as a group of greedy racketeers trying to get more and more people into long-term detox facilities around the state. My experience at the DLC, which lasted less than 12 hours (I was lucky to voluntarily leave after realizing I'd be denied the medication I've taken for nearly 2 decades), has led me to write this review, the first time I've ever gone online and written such a thing because I feel the need to warn other people about what awaits them after gaining admission. The attending psychiatrist made no effort to understand my medical or prescription history. Instead, he accused my current psychiatrist and psychiatrists dating back several years of "horrible abuse" and unethical practices for prescribing me the medications I take, and he randomly blathered out the names of several atypical antipsychotics to try, as though we were playing medication roulette. As I said No and No and No to all these atypical medications, which are very dangerous for me to take, he mocked, laughed, snickered and made silly noises at me. Furthermore, had I stayed inpatient and allowed them to unnecessarily detox me off my medication the way they wanted to, I would have been at risk of having seizures. Please, people, do your research before choosing to go to this "mental health facility." It is a scheme. If you want this place really explained in about 20 minutes, go watch John Oliver's recent report on Rehab because that is exactly the kind facility this is. It's where it begins. Put people in the system and start making money off of them, then boot them out and invest in a whole new crop. It's called cashing in on the opioid crisis and the state benefits from every single body that passes through the door. But I can't speak for people who really do have drug problems and need to detox. For that I do have great empathy but I was not one of those patients yet was definitely treated like one and lumped into that group. I don't know what would have happened to me had I not been able to leave as quickly as I did. And this is only a foolish Google review. I will be writing more thoroughly to my congressman, Florida DHHS, and the American Psychiatric Association. But they all already know this, and they allow it to continue to happen because it's a moneymaker. Nonetheless, this is only the beginning of a monstrous complaint you all at the DLC have awoken. And to the person who responds to complaints here: I already have Angie's information, so don't you dare repeat it to me in a response, and don't you dare apologize for a negative experience or tell me what you really strive for in patient care. I see right through you. In fact, you'd be better off not responding at all.

As you can see I am a high ranking Google guide so this is not a hit piece this is just fact based upon my extensive experience with David Lawrence Center. TLDNR: Flee. Do not look back. When I was 17 I was committed to DLC because I was having a manic episode of my Bipolar II disorder. They not only misdiagnosed me as Schizophrenic but they had zero interest in finding out the true issue. They filled me full of Thorazine and threw me in a white room strapped to a table with nothing but a camera pointed at me. I left there worse off than I had gone in with a newly acquired cigarette habit and a fear/hatred for psychiatrists. I can not speak to the motive behind their terrible "care" and misdiagnoses but I can only say that it scarred me for life and led to horrible future problems. After many years I came back to Naples with the correct diagnosis and medication, I simply needed a doctor to continue the prescriptions. Instead of continuing the medications that had worked for 10 years, they basically accused me of drug abuse, which had never had a problem with in my entire life. The "Psychiatrist" I saw was not even aware that Bipolar Disorder and ADD often occur at the same time and was not aware that Adderall and Effexor are an effective treatment for thousands of people who have these conditions. He actually looked at me in surprise at how calmly I was sitting across from him considering the correctly dosed and prescribed drugs in my system. So instead of just continuing me on the prescribed drugs I had been issued for TEN years by multiple Doctors in Texas, suddenly he knows better and refuses to prescribe my Adderall and told me I needed to reduce my Effexor. It's almost as if he wanted me to get worse and become a blubbering mess so that they could commit me again. I can not speak to their psychologist other than she smelled horribly of cigarettes and did not seem like she wanted to be there. The ONLY redeeming factor of any visit I have ever paid to this place was some of the intake personnel, they were friendly and helpful, if only that attitude would follow through to the rest of their employees.

As a client I was surprise of the lack of counseling from the clinicians most of them seems clueless they are very lenient with the rules a bit afraid to address the clients my group at the time got away with so much and the techs at crossroads played so many roles and they had to take away outside meetings because of people breaking the rules all that could have been avoided by the clinicians checking people's behavior with more than just a behavior plan both clinicians and nurse are terrible that nurse is always late and always angry the manager of crossroads is nonexistent she is just a name Maggie i think and the clients do not respect the techs because even though they play all the roles they are the messengers and rule enforcers without extra clinical training I hated the obvious weird balance in hierarchy new clinicians new nurse new supervisors would be nice counseling is a big part of recovery and it's nonexistent at crossroads or a big change the techs at crossroads really go above and beyond and they are the reason why I stayed Thalia Julio Nancy Charlie Marc and night tech Niola were all great

Overall had good experiences until today. My counseler was great but Brooke, the woman who works for the financial department was incredibly rude when I asked how much it would be for my appointment, which is not an uncommon concern nor a reason to be condescending. Won't be coming back.

This facility should be more of a homeless shelter it gives other non profit organizations a bad name it helps no one if anything destroys people abilities and lives instead of helping they belittle patients and abuse confidentiality they have volunteers who do the nurses jobs such as moniter patients every move when in reality do these people even understand situations and or circumstances have they been trained proper what's there history backround is it only well enough? Can any of them truthfully relate if so how i believe it in my heart that if they did someone on the inside would think and voice they're opinions on how they could better things up such as have respect be curtiouce help those in need instead of laugh and joke or gossip if they do for what it's worth they charge a ridiculous amout 1,000 plus dollars per day that's highway robbery especially since other facilities with lots more to offer may charge less and work with clientel now of course once your released from this center there's a process you can do inorder to help lower bill but still why volunteers no actual nurces working on floor this non profit organization or whathave you should give people benifit of doughts as for personal hygienes items they don't offer seriously they don't even provide toothbrushes toothpaste etc as for meals they're should be 3 they offer 2 in my opinion prisoners probably get treated better this place owns up to only a name of which when i hear i quinch needless to say i definitely learned alot even throughout one thing for certain is that no matter what not every one is the same and we must go on hoping only for a better change not just because of one's mishalf, possible mistakes, illness but for the valuable of what life is truly worth. As for most who can only rant, rave, review such as myself you never really know what's like unless you been through this yourself or know someone similar if so keep in mind nothing in life is easy no matter the education, history, career, just saying. Sometimes we fall into being labled they only way around that is to do everything you can and be confidant.

I really actually enjoyed my time there. Everyone that works there really cares about you and your recovery! The food was the only thing i will complain about but im diabetic so you know. I will say they probably need a nurse like a real nurse or whatever's next to a Dr. Because if you have health issues they just send you to the hospital and then if it gets really bad they send you out in medical discharge. But I've met amazing people. People who really want sobriety and friendship. Im really glad that i choose the David Lawrence Center! If you need help and WANT it that's the place to go.

It seems every time I come for help with my panic attacks and depression, I can't get it. I wasn't planning on returning to David Lawrence until I ended up in the ER. I'd already had a traumatic experience there that tore my family apart. I was told Dr. Madia was a wonderful doctor and polite. He's intrusive at best. Every time I explain myself he tells me it's not true, "Panic attacks don't last that long." "You're too young to be focusing on these things." Now I'm being drug tested every visit and he refuses to prescribe the medication that landed me in the ER to begin with. My relationships are disintegrating and I'm losing hope once again. Thanks David Lawrence.

If I could give you a 0 star I would, I went here when I was younger for "depression and ADHD" all they did was force me on so many drugs I WAS 11. They ruined my life and made me more depressed. Every week they switched my medication I was just there "test monkey" I hate this place please don't bring your kid here if you want him to be happy

Please if you have any decency do not baker act anyone, or even think this place will help you. It's an absolute pathetic excuse for a rehabilitation center. The ONLY positive thing I have to say about this place is Dr. Lehninger who is the child Psychiatrist. He is amazing! Aside from him the whole experience was awful. This is NOT the best choice for your adolescent no matter what. Very unprofessional staff, unstructured, lack of communication, depressing environment, lack of compassion, no one to help you understand what the protocol is or keep you informed, no one to explain procedures or visitation, etc..... The staff and nurses could be heard discussing what food they wanted to have that the patients could not have, complaining about their own lives, and discussing hours/shifts/pay in front of patients. When we showed up for our post appointment with our appointment letter AND text message confirmation we were told the lady was not in that day. This cost me valuable time, gas, and pay from my work that I had to take off for. They did not care and just said there's nothing we can do. Very disappointed and disheartened. Very unfortunate...
