The staff was nothing but caring and attentive to my needs. I highly recommend this facility to anyone in need of help. They failed to document any of my food allergens which resulted in them feeding me those exact allergens. I threw up violently, passed out in my bathroom, hit my head, had cuts in my ears, bruises on my head and temple, and bruises all over the right side of my body (indicating I must have fell/fainted). I told several RNS, TECHs on shift, the medical doctor, the PA, The patient advocate AND the case manager and NONE of them seemed to have any knowledge or regard for the severity of my injuries. I didnt get medically accessed or checked for a head injury until 72 HOURS AFTER THE FACT. I have extreme food intolerances to dairy, soy, gluten and fodmaps. Only 3 out of numerous meals were edible and that i could trust to eat. Several times they tried serving me bread that was not gluten free; as if i was lying about my intolerance or that the kitchen staff obviously didnt pass their saveserv certs or even understand what GLUTEN IS. Pathetic. Okay, so after getting sick; they transferred me to the unit for the disabled or people that need more medical attention; and guess what i got? The epitome of hell. I was promised to see a pyschiatrist or PA EVERY DAY and i only saw them 2 times in a 7 day period. The techs arent qualified to work with mentally disabled staff and it shows with their ignorance and lack of patience for the other disabled patients. The techs and RNS would give this poor old DEAF AND NEARLY BLIND woman such a harsh and cold demeanor which made me so sad. They would constantly just tell her to shush or shut up rather than try to listen to her. Their excuses were "i cant understand her" but im not even a professional; and i was still able to communicate with her, understand her and try to advocate for her to the staff to translate. They still treated her like she was barely human. We were treated like lab expirments; almost every person on the unit was over sedated on high doses of ativan and seroquil. They would walk around with charts every 15 minutes writing notes on us in plain sight. I felt like an animal. When I started reading the fine print in our handbooks regarding the rights of patients in mental facilities: and if i read everything correctly; they consistently break over half of those laws. Don't let me get started on their "group/activity therapist". Its a joke. There's no REAL therapy. Its an unqualified set of women who do origami and play uno with you. Sorry to break it to you, but this is an adult facility. Uno and origami isnt a great source of therapy, unless youre a child. I was raped. When the doctor in the emergency room found out what happened she said I should file a restraining order spend the night and talk to thier in house psychiatrist. Instead Park Royal came in the middle of the night and I went from Naples to Ft. Meyers. I'm disabled and recieved an injection of morphine and they had me sign all these papers under the influence. I was 65 and on Medicare. I thought I was on a 3 day hold but never once did I see a doctor. There were a lot of people in there like me. I have a spinal disease and never once given my pain pills. An attorney came through ask how long I had been there and if I had seen a doctor; She got a court order for the next day. That night I met my doctor for the first time and he threatened me by telling me he could say anything he wanted and keep me as long as he wanted. They had the trial I was released, my family was waiting for me but they still would not let me out. They want me to have a psychiatrist appt. by 3:00 that day. It's almost noon and I have no phone. If I don't have the appt they will send the sheriff to pick me up and bring me back just because I was a victim of rape. Fun story. No Staff so they have to put people who are going through drug and alcohol withdrawal with people who are depressed fun days.
