Is Alcohol a drug?

One of my friends tends to drink a lot throughout every weekend. I'm thinking about talking to her because her drinking worries me. I'm wondering if alcohol is a drug and trying to get the facts before I talk to her.

Yes, it is. Any mood or mind altering substance can be considered a drug. Also, just like any drug put into the body, it has effects. When the drug is no longer taken, the effects go away.
