Out of nowhere my child has moods of high highs and extremely low lows I think he is taking drugs. How can I be certain that drugs are the reason?

Look for other signs and symptoms of drug use. Is he having problems keeping relationships going? Is he suddenly doing a lot worse at school? Is he engaging in risky behaviors? These are all different things to keep an eye out for if you believe he's using drugs.

Keeping an eye out for other symptoms is a good idea. It's also important to remember that even if he is suddenly having highs and lows, this could be a sign of a mental health or emotional disorder. Having a conversation with him can also help determine whether or not he is using drugs or if there is another problem. Does he seem more reclusive than usual? Are his eyes red and watery, speech slurred, and is he gaining or losing weight at a strange pace? These are all signs to look out for as well.
