Can you overdose from snorting heroin

Took an offer to go camping with my brothers friends. Little did I know - a couple if not all of them do heroin. Crazy I know. When I walked up to them doing it I didnt know what it was because the dude were putting it up their nose and I never knew heroin could be done like that. The response I got when I asked what it was was inpart truthful, but they said it wasnt as dangerous cause they are snorting it. That is the part I dont believe. The fact that I havent done heroin in my life and I know very little about it I have to know if you can overdose from snorting heroin? I dont agree with my brothers choice of friends and there is nothing I can do about the that but I would at least like to be partially educated on the dangerous stuff.
