Can valium cause insomnia?

A month ago the dr gave me valium to take in the late morning everyday, but since I started taking it I noticed a change in my sleeping ability and I think I am experiencing insomnia. I never get over an hour of sleep anymore and when I do its ridiculously random.

It is very uncommon for valium to effect ones ability to sleep. It usually helps knock people out and sleep through the night.
