Can opiates cause brain damage?

Each time i put myself through opiate withdrawal I get mental fogginess that seems to get worse every time I go through withdrawal. Is this because opiates are damaging my brain?

Pretty much all drugs impair brain function. However, for opiates they tend to result in memory issues as well as loss. If your addicted to these opiates therefore having to deal with withdrawal on a regular basis, your brain is most likely hijacked by addiction and you need professional help before it gets any worse.
