I have a history of PKD in the family and I'm wondering if alcohol will increase the susceptibility to kidney diseases.

Alcohol damages the kidneys functioning by decreasing the kidneys ability to process and filter a persons blood.

Pretty certain if you drink alcoholicly than yes it can increase susceptibility but if you are a normal/ moderate drinker it shouldn’t be a big deal. Remember that alcoholism can happen to anyone at anytime in life.

Regarding your PKD, since you have a family history of it, high alcohol consumption will make you more susceptible to it and lead you with a higher risk for subarachnoid hemorrhage. So, drink sparingly.
