The exact difference is the opioids. The hydrocodone in Vicodin, is considered to be less potent than the oxycodone in Percocet.

Oxycodone is sold as Percocet, Oxycontin and is a synthesized opioid as far as I know. Hydrocodone comes from codeine and is sold as Vicodin, or sometimes in cough and cold medicines. Codeine is derived from poppies, so chemically, they are quite similar. They are just sometimes prescribed different ways.

Oxy’s are stronger than hydro’s thats why the doctors don’t give them out as freely.

Hydrocodone is currently the most prescribed drug in the US and it is a synthetic drug that is made from the poppy plant. Its used in combination with other drugs to treat pain, coughs and other illnesses. Oxycodone is used as a painkiller, often given to people with back pain or sports injuries. They are not quite the same, but they are both highly addictive.

They arent exactly the same, but they are both opioids. The main difference between the two is considered to be the strength, thus in Vicodin youll find about mg of hydrocodone but in Percocet therell be around 2.5mg of oxycodone. Both of them are highly addictive and have wrecked families across America, with people dying daily due to their painkiller addictions. If you feel like youve developed a dependency on either, its best to get help from a nearby clinic early on, the earlier you admit you need help, the easier it will be to conquer.

Basically, they are both painkillers, and they are both opiates. So, no, they arent quite the same but if you are caught in the grip of an addiction to either, it doesnt much matter, they have you in a vice.
