Are muscle relaxers dangerous?

My dude had a snowboarding incident that put him out of his sport for a decent amount of time. He was unable to move his body without debilitating pain so the doctor gave him muscle relaxers. I havent taken muscle relaxers before and know nothing about them.. is it dangerous to take drugs of this type?

All drugs are dangerous especially if taken with other medications. Also there is a risk of becoming addicted. I would first try a heating pad and some over the counter pain relievers before muscle relaxers ever again.
