Are muscle relaxers bad for you?

My wife got in a terrible accident. She can't lift anything or really move her body around. At the doctor visiit she was prescribed muscle relaxers. After taking them for a week or so she has severe headaches and pain is still there.

Muscle relaxers may cause spasms of her muscles so pain in her neck and back are not going to be uncommon symptoms/effects from taking the drugs. Also just as likely muscle tension in her neck and back can cause serious headaches.
