Rehab programs are designed based on the addiction and the addict's overall health and genetic makeup. These days, research shows that addiction treatment is only effective for long-term recovery if the duration is 90 days or more, however; there are programs that can last up to two years if someone needs pharmaceutical maintenance or they can be as short as 28 days for mild addictions.

most residential programs last for 28 days. Some people stay for a period of 90 days, and there are certain programs that let you stay longer. It really depends on how long you’ve used drugs and the type of program that you need to get better.

Rehab will go on as long as you need it to. Most standard inpatient programs are anywhere from 28 to 90 days. Your recovery needs to be your number one priority and going into a treatment program is a positive decision.
