Can you be forced to go to rehab?

My parents recently found out that I have a drug problem. I am legally considered an adult(Age 19) but I do still live at home with my parents. I just wanted to know if it was possible that they force me into a rehab if I do not agree to go?

No, I am unaware of any state that will allow a third party to forcefully admit a non-consenting adult to a rehabilitation facility. That being said though, if you have a problem you should seek help before it is to late.

I am sorry to hear that you are struggling. From reading your question here I know that you may not want help right now but, try and understand that your parents love you and they only want to see you get better and beat this addiction. In response to your question, while they may not be able to force you into a rehabilitation program by legal means because you are an adult and can make your own decisions. They may be able to leverage you into a rehab facility by threatening to disrupt your living situation and kick you out of their home.
