My brother has been a drinker for as long as I remember. He’s going to come and live with me to try and get off it. How long with that take?

He’ll go into withdrawal shortly after he has his last drink (or shortly after he wakes up after that). There’s 3 stages of withdrawal, that usually last up to week in total. It could be longer if he’s been a severe drinker.
