Why is soma addictive?

My doctor has prescribed me soma for a tear I received through playing basketball, but my friend is adamant that I shouldn’t take it as it’s so addictive. Why is this?

It can bring about a feeling a little like a high, that you’d get from an opiate, like heroin (although probably not as strong). Also, there are large numbers of people who abuse this drug, so your friend has a point, but be responsible about it.
