  5. Why do people get addicted to adderall?
Asked: 2018-09-21 09:13:43
I started taking Adderall when I was in like third grade for ADHD. Well, my dad had a fit that my mom put me on meds, and they stopped giving them to me before middle school. I put on weight and my grades got really bad. I also lost all of my motivation to be social. Well, I picked it back up again in my senior year of high school. Now I can’t stop taking it and buy it illegally. I think I’m addicted, but why can’t I control it now but I could when I was younger?

This is a super powerful stimulant. Taking it wrong is both dangerous and illegal. You can become completely dependent on Adderall to get you up and moving, and you need to learn to cope with life without it. Exercise helps. Your brain may be chemically dependent, but it sounds like a lot of your problems are psychological.

When you were younger, you probably just took what was handed to you and it sounds like it was controlled by someone else. When you take meds ike that as prescribed, then addiction is a lot less likely. When you start getting it illegally and using it when you may not need it, then you become dependent on it and become addicted. It sounds like you associated a lot of the normal puberty problems with ending the meds, and this may have made you even more dependent.
