I think my son has been stealing things to buy drugs, does this mean he is a drug addict?

For sure. If he has such a compulsive need to get his hands on drugs that he will steal, then he has probably been a drug addict for a while.

Probably, this kind of behavior normally means that the person has been taken over by drugs, particularly if this isn’t the kind of thing he’d ever have done before. Drug addiction takes over the mind, and this is why it’s so hard to stop.
