I met a new girl down my block, and I wanted to go over her house but she said her Mom has an alcohol addiction so I couldn’t. What does that mean?

It means her Mom drinks alcohol and can’t really help herself. Alcohol can make people act differently and even be mad or angry when they don’t mean to. It’s probably better if you ask her to come over your house.
