What happens if an alcoholic suddenly stops drinking?

My friend has been drinking since we were 17 I can’t remember a time, when he didn’t have a beer in his hand. He thinks he can quit cold turkey. Just like that. What happens if he stops drinking like that?

If your friend is an alcoholic, I would suggest he be well aware that he could have a Grand Mal Seizure. Cold turkey is not the way to go here. He needs to seek professional help.
