I’m really worried about my friend cos she’s been taking pain meds over the past few years after a sports injury, and now she’s told me that she’s physically addicted. What does she mean?

If she’s been taking them awhile then her body has now gained a dependence on them to function. So, basically her body reacts when it doesn’t have them, and not in a good way. It makes her feel very ill indeed.
