I think that I have an addiction to alcohol. I think about when I am going to have my next drink constantly and whenever I am not drinking I think about how much better the situation would be if I were drinking. I want to stop drinking but am afraid it will be too hard. What symptoms will I experience when I try to quit drinking?

It’s impossible to know what symptoms you will experience because it is different for every alcoholic. Many people notice that their body starts to ache, they shake without being able to control it, aren’t able to sleep well, and are grumpy for quite a while as they detox.

In simple terms, you won’t feel great as you detox from alcohol. Your body will crave the alcohol and when you refuse to give in, your body will adversely react to the decision. You will get a fever, could start to shake, won’t be able to sleep well, will lose your appetite, and could even start vomiting.
