  5. What are symptoms of heroin withdrawal?
Asked: 2018-06-01 04:28:25
One of friends confided in me that she is battling an addiction to heroin and wants to quit. She is afraid that the withdrawal symptoms are going to be so bad when she tries to detox that she will relapse and accidentally overdose from the drugs. I want to help reassure her that she can make it through detox, but don’t know what the withdrawal symptom are when someone detoxes from heroin. What can she expect as she detoxes?

Her body will crave the drugs. When she does not give them to her the body will react adversely as it detoxes from the drugs. She may start to shake uncontrollably, have a temperature, feel nauseous, and generally feel as though she has a very intense flu.

When someone detoxes from heroin, they will not feel great for quite a few days. Many people vomit, shake, and suffer horrible headaches. Some people sleep constantly while others cannot sleep at all. Detoxing will be difficult but with the right support it is doable.
