A neighbor is withdrawing from meth. Our walls are thin in this complex and I hear her crying. What happens when you withdraw and how long will it last?

I hope she is not alone as she starts this journey to recovery. Her crying can be from physical discomfort or emotional strain. Meth withdrawal includes things like sleeping for long stretches of time, agitation, anger, and anxiety. I would expect her to start feeling better physically in a few days, however, the emotional toll could take considerably longer.

When you withdraw from any drug, including meth, you are miserable. Some people depending on the drug and other factors, are miserable for a short time, others for a long time. It isn't just about the physical withdrawal that makes some addicts cry. For them, there is a psychological and emotional attachment to the drug, and even if they know they must stop, it can be sad for them.
