  5. Is my friend an alcoholic quiz?
Asked: 2017-12-15 10:27:54
I’m really worried about my friends drinking but she seems to think she is just fine. Is there some way I can show her she is an alcoholic, like some sort of quiz or something she could take online?

Does your friend try to hide her drinking from other people? Does she need to drink every day to function? Those are the two main things you will find on any quiz. but i’m sure if you search the web you can find one.

You are a good friend in trying to help your friend, if you go to the national council on alcoholism and drug dependance they have a quiz on your website, I hope she will take.

When I was worried about my husbands drinking I found this quiz online. He showed all the classic symptoms like drinking alone. He would wait until I left to go do the shopping and then he would sit in the garage, and drink his beer until he heard me pull in and then act like nothing was going on. And then eventually he would get worse and spend more and more time in the garage, trying to hide his drinking by doing this project or that.

When I did catch him drinking he would just tell me how hard his day was and how stressful his work is. Which I understood stress and just wanted to talk to him , but later it was all about him. He would get super emotional. He would cry and tell me how sorry he was for ignoring me, or not spending time with the kids, how much he loved me, and the kids. How he needed to be a more hands on Dad and help with them.

The next day he was right back at it, so I left the quiz up on his computer in the garage, and he actually asked himself those questions. That is when I knew he finally understood he had a problem with alcohol. He had to see if for himself, probably much like your friend is going to have to do. Then you may be able to get her some help. You can’t help someone who does’t want to help themselves. I was able to check my husband into an alcohol rehab soon after that.

He is still sober 2 years later and is grateful every day for me and his children, and now on bad days and when work gets stressful we go to an AA meeting together, or talk a long walk with the dogs. Or even just hang out and play video games. I’m sorry you have to worry about your friend. I sure hope you can get her to see these questions and begin her healing.
