How long will xanax withdrawal last?

I have been taking Xanax for years but noticed that it is not doing the job that it did in the beginning. I want to stop using it, so I can try a different medication but need to know how long will have I have to experience withdrawal symptoms when I stop taking Xanax?

Detoxing from Xanax can take up to a week to complete with the most severe withdrawal symptoms occurring in the first few days of detoxing.
